CHAPTER 63 – BACK TO NOW

I can’t believe that Thanatos-sama was involved as well, so this is what Inoue-san thought when she mentioned I had a boyfriend. I guess she must have misunderstood. Although, if you ask me, he was acting more like a doting parent than a lover. But I still don’t know how I ended up with a mansion to my name.

“So all of you got a power-up? How envious and it happened just before the tournament. Talk about being lucky.”

The only thing that Thanatos-sama did was make a wager with my lips at stake. I took a look at my wrist and luckily there was no silver mark there. But that doesn’t tell me if I successfully defended my lips. Let’s just hope I did. I guess all those people earlier at the guild building lost to me and failed to land an attack.

“Well… yeah. My stats didn’t change all that much, but I gained an ability to sense the strength of the opponent by seeing them in different colors. It is a very useful ability.”

“Elrich-sama gave me an ability to temporarily increase my magic attack in exchange for all my defense and agility stats. It is somewhat of a double edged sword but it should be fine when fighting alongside someone else. Also, I can sacrifice all my mana to gain huge boost in
attack power.”

Why is it like that? One could save your life by avoiding dangerous battle and other can ensure a sure-kill method. I looked at Nakamura-kun, but he remained silent. I didn’t bother asking more since one’s status and skills are meant to be secret unless you reveal them to the public.

“So can anyone tell me how I ended up buying a mansion? Is it really mine?”

“I don’t know, but the next day you showed up around noon at our place and dragged us to that mansion saying you bought it dirt cheap since it was in a bad state and apparently haunted. But once you got there, you just chased all the ghosts out so it was all cool now.”

Bad state? The whole place was super clean and new. Even the garden was well maintained. And on top of that all, the furniture looked new.

“Maeda-san you dragged us to clean but in the end about two hundred adventurers showed up and did almost everything with magic and physical work and they were done in mere two hours while the six of us, Nord-san and Colt-san included drank some liquor they came across during their adventures.”

“Is that all? I didn’t do anything weird, or something? Are there any other rumors?”

“Nope, that is all. The only thing happening in the last two days is the king barricading himself inside the library looking for some legendary weapon. He ordered all scholars to find things about Iris and Hephestos.”

Oh my, the King really wants to fight with me over this one. Well as long as he holds a piece of the sword, we will come to fight one day, but I would prefer he remains clueless for the time being.

“Is the King’s sword really called Sword of Light? Did the first [Analyze] really name it like that?”

“No, [Analyze] can be used to determine the value of things as well as attribute and rarity, but it doesn’t give the name of the item. I don’t think there is a skill like [Appraisal] among the natives, only some heroes have it. Sword of Light is the name given by the first king that found it. But from what I learned, its true name should be Amber. No, to be more precise it is Rainbow Sword: Amber which implies that there are others as well, one being in the hands of King of Vilikis.”

I already know that, but it is good to confirm it, rather then simply assuming it only to be wrong later on. But it would be better not to show Amethyst in front of Nakamura-kun even if it is in sealed state. I think he might have [Appraisal] and I don’t want others to know I have a legendary weapon on me.

“Rainbow blade, you said? Then I can assume there are seven in total. How come the others are not known?”

“Apparently, at first they thought that they would be able to find one sword for each element and went on a wild search but only came out with a dozen fakes so they ended giving up the search. I read about it when I first arrived here.”

“How did they realize it was a fake?”

“A real one would have a personality. Legendary ranked equipment, especially weapons, tend to have a certain aura around it. And trust me when I say, making a fake that is of legendary quality is not something that can be done easily. There were also some accounts of damaged weapons, but those most likely weren’t the real deal either.”

So basically, they do not know about sealed status of equipment, but I understand about such weapons having personality. The description of Amethyst says that it sealed itself because it was offended by its wielder. With all this information acquired I bid them farewell and returned to my new home.

***NAKAMURA’S POV***

That girl is more of a monster than I thought at first. When I met with Syrina-sama, she bestowed upon me two skills; [Calm Mind] and [Root of Knowledge]. First one allows me to see things with a clear mind and no prejudice and the second one passively shows some information about anything I am looking at. And looking at Maeda-san made me realize just how different she is compared to the rest of us.

Her numerical values were more or less not that impressive compared to us heroes, but what is scary is the number of titles she possesses and their effects. I was not able to learn all the details, but just her title [Daughter of Death] was really scary with how it allows her to get stronger faster and prevents her from aging. That is one nasty thing since she can’t die a natural death. And not to mention the sheer amount of skills and their high levels, for comparison a person at skill level seven would be considered a master at that certain skill. She has eight skills over lv5, which is a huge deal. It be best if I don’t get in her way in the future.
