Chapter 134: Master of the Lake part 2
While I’d been talking with Iris, the submerged drone had found the escape pod. We still didn’t know whether water had gotten inside. A crack had formed when the parachute deployed, so it was a real risk. It wasn’t responding to calls, but that wasn’t strange if it was in low-power or stealth mode.
The drone dragged the steel cable over and fixed it to the pod’s outer hull. I checked the cable myself, just in case.
Touching a frozen cable like this with bare hands would tear the skin right off. Leather gloves are mandatory for this job. Once I protected my hands and gripped the cable, I could feel that the lock was secure.
Reeling in the cable and hauling up the pod was beyond me alone. Even with Gloria helping, it would have been a stretch.
The smart move here was to wait for Elna’s unit to arrive. The plan
