「Tch, it looks like the cow hasn’t been subjugated yet. It can’t be helped, let’s go to the southern forest.」
Three days have passed since then, but it seems that the cow monster has not been subjugated yet. In the meantime, it seems that a considerable number of adventurers have died. The three warriors step forward with their shields at the ready. The gray wolves seem to be five in number.

On a closer look, I see that a black wolf, one size larger than the others, is standing behind the five gray wolves, watching us. The black parts seem to be inorganic stones. Black stones cover the area around its eyes and forehead, like a mask. They also cover the area around its neck, like a mane. It looks as if it is protecting its vital spots like the rock dog. What a troublesome opponent.
Keane nocks an arrow and shoots it into the gray wolves’ faces one after another. Even so, the gray wolves are still coming at us. The three warriors are holding up their shields while using body enhancement and lowering their centers of gravity, so they managed to hold them back without allowing any to break through. From behind their shields, Faye, making use of his long reach, thrust his spear into the gray wolves. One of them makes a big leap and jumps over the shields, but Faye’s spear pierces its belly in mid-air. When Faye knocks the gray wolf to my feet, I launch three stabs at it with my magical energy-imbued sword, effectively killing it.
The black wolf is only looking at how we are doing, showing no signs of moving. Three of the gray wolves have been defeated, and there are only two left. Unable to break through the shields, they get pierced by spear and arrows one-sidedly. At this point, it is only a matter of time before we claim our victory.
Suddenly, the black wolf makes a wide detour into the river and charges at Keane. Keane is currently wielding his bow, so he cannot deal with it. I protect Keene with my shield while activating body enhancement. I lower my center of gravity and use my shield to block the charge of the black wolf, but along with a sharp clang, I end up getting knocked backward as I receive an impact greater than what I have expected. It feels as if a lump of iron is charging at me. It is absolutely not the weight of a wolf. The steel shield also ends up getting dented. Appraisal!

I pick up my shield and put away my sword into its sheath. If I don’t hold up my shield with both hands, I won’t be able to defend against this wolf’s attack. One warrior comes to assist me. It seems that the other two warriors and Faye will deal with the remaining two gray wolves.
I sense a flow of magical energy from the wolf. Is it using instant step? Then, the mass of earth in front of the wolf goes up and condenses.
「It’s coming! It’s using earth magic!」
The lump of earth covered with magical energy attacks me. It would be a disaster if I were to take it head on. I quickly hold up my shield at an angle. The lump of earth bounces off my shield and flies toward the river. The warrior steps forward. While I was distracted by the earth magic, the wolf jumped out at me, so the warrior is blocking it with his shield.
Keane moves to the side of the wolf with instant step and sends its hind leg flying with his short sword.
「Alright, aim for places that aren’t covered with black stones! Your attack will be plenty effective that way!」
On a closer look, I see that although the areas around the joints of the legs are covered with black irons, the base parts of the legs are not. Thanks to Keane sending its hind leg flying, the wolf’s mobility is greatly reduced.
「Hehehe, sorry for the wait.」
Faye and the others join the fight. The gray wolves seem to have been wiped out. Afterward, we surround the front of the black iron gray wolf with shields and send its limbs flying one by one. While the black iron gray wolf, which has lost all four limbs, is crawling on its belly, we stab it with our spear and swords and finish it off.
