“Former.”

A moment later, a massive tremor and deafening roar rocked the volcano.

A fresh wave of dust clouds engulfed the area, quickly blotting out the sun once more. Cecily couldn’t see well through the haze, but it looked like Doris’s group had been knocked over while fighting the tentacles. Screams and curses came from beyond the veil of dust.

Luke, too, was down on the ground. He likely couldn’t keep his balance because of the swords on his back.

Cecily alone managed to stay on her feet. Luke looked at her.

“I’ll bring Lisa back, no matter what!” she declared.

“W-Wait, I’m coming too!”

She took off without looking back. There was no time to waste. If she didn’t make it, the Former’s sacrifice would’ve been for nothing. She couldn’t waste the chance she’d given them. Hurry. Run.

Move!
