Noah Cartwright drifted in and out of consciousness.

Am I going to die?

He lay on his back, unable to move a muscle. It was no wonder. He had fallen from atop that massive dragon. Normally, that kind of fall would mean instant death. The only reason he was breathing at all was Veronica’s armor, which had absorbed the impact. Even then, it felt like a miracle he was alive.

Veronica herself was nowhere in sight. Had she shattered into pieces when she took the full force of the fall? If that was the case, he felt sorry.

Did I accomplish anything at all?

He didn’t know. Perhaps this, too, was only natural. He had no real convictions to begin with. He just followed orders and moved as commanded. There was no way he could’ve ever felt a sense of purpose that way.
