As might be expected, the king had concerns about Char handling it alone, so His Majesty decided to place a noble in charge of internal affairs, under Char to manage the orphanages.
But it was still the right move to put Char in the spotlight.
When the word spread throughout the Empire that the Imperial Princess Char was now in charge of the orphanages, the news was well received.
She is said to be diligently visiting orphanages and getting familiar with the children.
She did not look down on the children, but was able to interact with them on the same level, which the children were happy about.
Perhaps they are close in mental age, but let me not think about that.
The issue of subsidy is also being reviewed after hearing the situation regarding the local orphanage administrators.
Viscounts McGrath’s family has been stripped of their property, which was confiscated by the Empire, and then distributed between the orphanages as a temporary grant.
I heard that a considerable amount of money had been collected from all the shady dealings. Thankfully, it was to be put to good use for the children who will one day be responsible for the future of the Empire.
Now Saya and the children will be able to rest easy at the orphanage.
「Touya-niichan, is the food ready yet?」
I was thinking about Char as I stirred the pot, and it seemed that a good amount of time had passed.
「Hold on a minute, it’s almost ready」
I tasted the soup that had plenty of oak meat in it, placed it in Dimensional Storage and headed for the dining room.
I took turns serving it in bowls for everyone. When everyone had been served, Saya began to give thanks.
「Let’s begin the meal with thanks to God’s grace and to Touya-san for making it. Thank you for the food」

I could not help but share in the happiness as I watched the children’s smiles.
