It was very fortunate that there was only one enemy, otherwise we might have been in some really deep shit if they decided to launch a surprise attack at us.
Fortunately, the effects of my spell enhancements were still ongoing.
With only one tiger to deal with, taking care of him didn’t take all that long.
We just paralyzed him and then I finished him off with my lightning blade.
Honestly, no other result should have been expected here.
I even managed to get some actual Drop Items this time (crazy, right?)
【Material】Forest Tiger Skin Raw Material Quality C+ Rarity 4 Weight 4
Skin of the Forest Tiger. The stripped patterns are quite popular in ornamental crafts.
So it’s like a classic leather.
Hmm.
I wonder if Man-eater Lion would drop the same item?
In order to find out what can drop from Man-eater Lion I moved further to the south.
It was not its skin, but something else which could have been expected.
【Material】Man-eater Lion’s Fang Raw Material Quality C+ Rarity 4 Weight 0+
Fang of a Man-eater Lion. A strong canine tooth used primarily for shredding meat.
【Material】Man-eater Lion’s Claw Raw Material
Claw of a Man-eater Lion. Not too sharp but very tough.
After a while I dispatched a substantial amount of Man-eater Lions, but had no luck in obtaining their skins as a Drop Item. On the plus side, I also managed to get some items from tigers and snakes.
【Material】Forest Tiger’s Fang Raw Material Quality C Rarity 4 Weight 0+
Fang of the Forest Tiger. Unusually sharp to the point that it requires careful handling.
【Material】Forest Tiger’s Claw Raw Material Quality C Rarity 4 Weight 0+
Claw of the Forest Tiger. Unusually sharp to the point that it requires careful handling.
【Material】Venom Python’s Fang Quality C+ Rarity 4 Weight 0+
Fang of a Venom Python. Has a bag filled with poison at its base. It has the effect of gradually sapping the victim’s HP and physical strength away.
I gladly took all of those items with me.
However, there was one thing which continued to bug me ever since I have arrived on this map.
Why do I keep encountering enemies that can be turned into Summoned Monsters?
Also, are there any more enemies here?
It would be nice if they weren’t, but somehow I highly doubt it.
Aaand of course my hunch turned out to be right!
Battle Hawk Lv7
Monster Target Subjugation Active
Battle Position: Air Fire Resistance Wind Resistance
This time it was a hawk, which means it was Helix’s time to shine.
He chased after him, but much to my surprise he proved to be quite a tough nut to crack.
Of course it can’t hope to best Helix who is strengthened with my spells, but its agility, speed and the ability to make precise movements despite moving at such a high speed was commendable.
It was probably on Obsidian’s level.
That’s amazing!
The rest of us stayed on the ground ready to intercept the Battle Hawk in case it even came closer to us, but looks like it won’t be happening.
I guess I could try attacking it with some of my spells, but at this rate I would just end up wasting them in vain.
In the end, we had to let Helix and Obsidian take care of the Battle Hawk.
They defeated it, so no complaints here… well maybe aside from the fact that the feeling of uselessness in this battle made me a little salty.
I’ll have to come up with a way of handling airborne enemies in the future.
【Material】Battle Hawk’s Wing Quality C+ Rarity 3 Weight 0+
Wing of a Battle Hawk. The feathers salvaged from it are usually used in the production of Feathered Arrows. Also Quill Pens.
The hawk’s Drop Item were its wings.
Meh, that’s pretty standard I guess.
I wonder what are the demons lurking at the Relay Portal here like?
Should I go check them out?
Then again, it is very probable that some other party is going to be battling them already.
Ah well, YOLO I guess. Let’s go for it anyway.
I was still fairly far from the center of the S1W3 map.
But as long as I have Zangetsu with me, I should be able to arrive there by noon.
Let us be on our way then.
After a few hours I have arrived at my destination after repelling countless monster invasions.
The place itself is a little strange.
It looks somewhat like a Wind Spirit’s Village, but it’s not quite the same.
Along the river that’s coming through the village, there is a fence erected on a stone base.
There is also a gentle slope that has a field on it.
All in all, this place is bigger than the Wind Spirit’s Village, probably much closer in scale to the town of Remut.
It even has a well-maintained cobblestone road and two stone towers with a gate at the bottom of them.
Suspiciously enough, the gate was opened.
Yeah, there’s nothing strange about it, like, at all.
Could it be that the Relay Portal was behind that gate?
I guess I’ll know the answer once I check it out myself.
But first let’s do some recon work from outside the village.
Neither Helix nor Obsidian detected anything abnormal about the village and its surroundings.
I also couldn’t detect any people or enemies, even after using Sense Magic.
Welp, looks like we can go inside without worrying too much.
I entered the village while staying atop Zangetsu’s back.
Man is it rough in here or what?
There was a time when the Wind Spirit’s Village looked like that too, but it wasn’t as bad as it is here.
Basically, plants are running wild all over the goddamn place: grass, trees, ivy, you name it, it’s here.
Everything was literally buried under the plants, but there was no fruit or flower as far as my eyes could see.
Also, apparently I cannot log out as long as I am here.
This is bad!
This is extremely, extremely dangerous!
Something was telling me this place was bad news, but to such an extent?!
Anyway, looks like my destination is the square in the center of the village, seeing as it had less plants around it which in turn were more bizarre than the others.
Okay then. Let’s change the team here before proceeding any further down this rabbit hole.
Also, should I use Instant Portal here, just to be on the safe side?
The current party composition is Volff, Zangetsu, Helix, Obsidian and Heather.
First thing first, this place looks to be too narrow for a horseback battle, so Zangetsu will have to go back.
Instead, I will summon Jericho as the member of the front guard.
Obsidian was also replaced by Shishiko.
I was a little worried about what to do with Heather, but I decided to keep her in the active party for now.
I still have around 80% of my MP left, so all’s good in that department, and if I start to run out, I can always replenish it with Mana Potions.
I enhanced us with spells as much as I could, and treated the avant-garde with Power Water.
It seems to be as effective as ever.
I also gave some Stung’s Nectar (Slight) to Heather.
Just like Ninetails, she immediately showed a desire for more, as expected of someone who’s heart is a demonic one.
Of course I used both of them on myself as well.
As for the weapon I should use… I think I will try using a mace for now.
If I find it to be lacking I will just switch to another one on the fly.
All right, I think I’m about as ready to do it as I can be.
Now, let’s get ready to rumble!
When I arrived at the center of the square, an event message began playing.
As I thought.
No one has opened this Relay Portal so far.
《Oh pitiful visitor!》
《Cry and despair!》
《There is nowhere for you to run!》
《All we want is to see mortals suffer!》
《And revel in the world’s destruction!》
As soon as the texts disappeared, something began to emerge from the grass surrounding the square.
What are those?
Phantom Beast Master Lv4
Event Monster Target Subjugation Active
Battle Position: Ground Fire Resistance Wind Resistance Earth Resistance Water Resistance
Chimera Lv1
Event Monster Target Subjugation Active
Battle Position: Ground Fire Attribute Poison Attribute
Exorcising Monk Lv5
Event Monster Target Subjugation Active
Battle Position: Ground
Light Resistance Dark Resistance Fire Resistance Wind Resistance Earth Resistance Water Resistance
Nue Lv2
Event Monster Yokai Target Subjugation Active
Battle Position: Ground Lightning Attribute Poison Attribute
Oi oi oi, isn’t such a combination really dangerous?!
「Lava Magic! Breath! Mediate!」
I immediately selected and executed my spells.
I have a mace in my right hand and a tonfa in the left.
I strengthened them as well.
Now what do I do?
We have to be quick or else this will turn into a real shitshow real fast!
「AWOOOOOO!!!!」
Volff howled loudly, signaling the beginning of the battle!
