Irina finished taking care of everything right about when I collected my 7th Ancient Stone from the many Raptor bodies on the ground around us.

『Sorry to make you wait.』

「What new Summon Monsters did you guys choose?」

『I’ll tell you about it later, but do look forward to it.』

「Hmm… And Muret reached her Class Change too?」

『Yep.』

With Irina’s fairy Muret reaching her Class Change, Irina now had two options to choose from.
Heather went from a Fairy to a Silky.
But Irina chose the other option.
She chose to change her Fairy to a Pixie.
Muret didn’t look too different on the outside.

「It doesn’t look like she changed that much, huh?」

『Her wings are a little bigger though.』

「Really? Can you tell something like that?」

『Yep. No doubt about it.』

「Did she get some more attributes?」

『She used to have only the Water and Earth Attribute, but now she has the Tree Attribute and the Wind Attribute too.』

Muret and Heather frolicked together around us.
But… How could I best express it…?
I couldn’t let myself get deceived by her outward appearance.
The two of them looked very cute together, but I couldn’t let myself get fooled by that.
They had incredible power within them.

There were four birds of prey watching for any enemies around us.
On top of that, three wolves kept watch on the ground.
After a short break, we started moving again.
We got on our horses, and started heading to the Wind Spirit Village.
I wanted to check how the Wind Spirit Village was doing.
The time was still 10 AM.
It would probably still take a while for Fiona and everyone else to arrive.

But thinking about it more thoroughly…
Where were all these monsters coming from?
What did their supply lines look like?
What about their chain of command?
The more I thought about it, the more a headache started to grow, so I stopped.

The problem was with the many centaurs around us.
I wasn’t a big fan of counting.
They were moving around, so counting them all was impossible to begin with.

But I would put the rough estimate at a few thousand…
And those were just the Centaurs close enough for us to see.
Since the Wind Spirit Village was under siege, there were probably just as many on the other side.
In total, maybe five or six thousand Centaurs?
I really didn’t want to imagine there being ten thousand of them.

『What is that!? Just how many of them are there!』

『What are we going to do, Keith?』

「I’m thinking about it right now…」

『I hope you’re not thinking of charging into that many Centaurs!』

「Yeah. I’m thinking it would be nice to run into the village though.」

『Eh?』

『Eh?』

「No, I’m joking! We’re not doing that. Don’t give me that look.」

Yep. It was a fleeting thought.
But how were we supposed to get rid of so many Centaurs…
It would be nice if we could take care of them the same way we took care of all the Raptors from earlier, but the Centaurs were smart creatures.
It was a very tough problem.

「I’m starting to recall what Fiona told us when we first left the village.」

『I think we got off relatively well, actually!』

「I think she mentioned kiting… I’m thinking of making use of that.」

『Yes?』

『Kiting? As in let the Centaurs follow us while we run away?』

Yep. Exactly that.
Those Centaurs, no matter how strong and smart they were, wouldn’t be able to resist running after us.
Although, getting rid of them while running away would be a tough task.

If we had Fiona’s army with us, we could probably encircle their whole siege.
But eliminating all the Centaurs would probably be a different story.
There was a difference in our army’s mobility, and the Centaur herd’s mobility.

「It would be great if we could lead them to some sort of trap…」

『By kiting them, you mean?』

「If we could get Fiona and her army to wait for us somewhere, we could probably lead the Centaurs to them.」

Looking closer, the siege did not just consist of Centaurs.
There were rhinos too.
Panzer Rhinos?
It looked like there were about 20 of them huddled together.
I also saw a figure sitting on the back of one of those Panzer Rhinos.
It was probably the Majin controlling the monsters.

「I guess I’ll try talking to Fiona.」

『That was our role to begin with, though…』

『Are we going to go from scouts to decoys!?』

「Probably, now that you mention it.」

Well, wasn’t that nice.
I was glad they understood me so quickly.

Conclusion.
There was really only one way to find out if our plan would work. We just had to dive in and do it.
I was also very grateful for【Telepathy】.
It made communication with Fiona very easy.

『Lay a trap, you say, but what do you mean by that?』

「A wall of spears and a mass of archers behind them, I suppose.」

『In other words, you want us to intercept them while they chase you, yes?』

「I suppose spells like Pitfall, Light Explosion, or Dark Explosion would be nice too.」

『Ah, and wall spells?』

Yep. Her prediction was right on the money.
Fiona reading my mind made things a lot simpler.

『You think you’ll have the freedom to contact me while you kite the herd of Centaurs?』

「I’ll leave that to Adele and Irina.」

Yep, I could have them act as my messengers.
Hey, why are you two giving me that look!?

『I guess I’ll leave the details to you, but… Are you sure you’re going to be okay?』

「Well, I’ll try to stay alive.」

Well then.
It was time to put our plan into action.
What was the first step of our plan?
It was simple. Harassment.

『Keith! Don’t you think there are too many monsters!』

「We’ll cut down the number a bit before we get to Fiona’s army.」

『So you want us to contact Fiona when we’re close enough?』

「Yep, I’ll leave it to you, Irina. I’d love to dedicate myself to harassing them.」

The monsters we were planning on kiting were, of course, the Centaurs surrounding the Wind Spirit Village.
If we charged among them, letting loose area-of-effect attack spells on the way, we could probably pull most of them behind us.
It would also be an opportunity to take some shots at the Majin controlling them all.
I could see five Majin.
There were two Insanity Bards at Level 4 and Level 7. Both of them were riding Centaurs.
I also saw three smaller groups of about 20 Panzer Rhinos each.
Each of the groups of Panzer Rhinos was headed by one Beast Tamer.

We charged in.
As expected, nearly half of the enemy forces still remained around the other half of the village.
And in the case of the Panzer Rhinos, unlike the centaurs, they stopped chasing us after a short while.
Well, that was fine.
I could take them down later.
I’m definitely coming back for you guys!

For the time being, I started heading south.
I didn’t bother counting how many Centaurs were behind us.
Shooting arrows at the Centaurs to our side, we kept provoking more of them to chase us.
While I was at it, I renewed the strengthening spells on our horses.
After some time, Adele and Irina ran out of arrows.
They ran out of arrows earlier than I expected them to.

I let Helix and the other birds of prey take over the role.
Their main role would be to provoke more Centaurs to chase us.
Some of the Centaurs even fell into an Enraged state.
I was a little worried about the fact that I lost sight of the Majin.

But we still kept heading southwards anyway, pulling a big herd of Centaurs behind us.
I would have to keep up this fatal game of tag for a while.
