Chapter 231 Part 4
『Wow! Amazing! This is so cool!』
『Kyaaaa-hooooo!』
『Hey, just try not to fool around so much, okay?!』
『Now I’ll have to level up my own Wind Magic and get this spell as soon as possible!』
Oh.
Everyone got used to is surprisingly easily.
We got into the air properly, and Haruna, Konohana and Hyodor-kun already went ahead of us.
Seriously, they can behave like such kids sometimes.
Once you forms a Party with someone, you can cast up to 2 AoE spells on the whole party without the need to actually touch them.
No physical contact is required as long as the members you will be casting spells on stay withing your field of vision.
So everything should be fine and dandy as long as I won’t lose sight of them.
After spending a little while on getting everyone used to the flight controls, we all decided it was high time for us to head south.
We fly through the sky.
I wonder how much distance we will have to travel, and if we will reach our next point of interest before the spell duration is going to ran out?
On the way to the south we were attacked by Canabuns, but with all of us gathered together we managed to repel them without any major difficulties.
After the initial group that was attacking us got wiped out, the rest quickly fled as far away from us as they could until they became passive again.
This current setup we’re having makes fighting enemies surprisingly easy and painless.
The time is now 10:30 AM.
We didn’t had any additional random monster encounters all the way until we reached the Relay Portal at the border of S3 and S4 maps to have a short break to recharge my Fly spell again.
All in all, traversing half of the map took us around 40 minutes.
That was way too fast!
Speaking of “Half the map”, I think the exact distance corresponds to the one it takes to reach the southern caves from the Wind Spirit’s Village in the W2 map.
Time-wise, it takes an hour to get there on Zangetsu’s back, not counting the time needed for all the battles with random monsters that might happen along the way.
So we got here like, what, twice as fast?
Nothing short of amazing.
And how is my MP consumption doing?
Well, the decrease is certainly greater when compared to the time I only used it on myself.
But overall it does not seem to be all that big of a problem, at least for now.
If that’s the case, then I might as well continue my experiment.
「Alright everyone, can you do something for me? Can each of you summon two of your Summoned Monsters so we can form parties of two Summoners and four Summoned Monsters?」
「O…kay?」
「Huh? Are we going back on the ground already?」
「No, we’re staying in the sky for now, so make sure to summon the types of monsters that also have the ability to fly.」
「Huh.」
「I will join Hyodor-kun.」
What exactly is the experiment that I wish to perform?
I want to check if the effect of the Fly spell will keep working in the Union state as well.
That is what I want to verify.
I summoned Helix and Cotouly, just like before.
The monsters that Hyodor-kun summoned were a hawk and an owl.
Yup.
Good thing he has something that can be used in the air.
If he did not have any of the flying monsters then that would be infinitely more inconvenient for me.
Adel’s monsters are the Owl Fuu-chan and the Hawk Ta-chan, While Irina chose the Battle Hawk Sky Eye and the Owl Byakuya.
Haruna and Konohana also come with Hawks and Owls.
No, wait, both of them have a Fighting Falcon and a Giant Owl added into the mix.
I should have expected as much.
「Do you have any idea at all what kind of enemies we can expect once we’ll get to the S4 map?」
「Most likely Floating Heads, Puppet Trees and Demonic Monkeys.」
「Good to know. So as we are now, the only ones capable of attacking us would be… Floating Heads, right?」
「That’s right. Their normal drops are nothing to write home about, but they have a chance of sometimes dropping jewels.」
「Really? That’s great. Think we can get much jewels from them if we farm long enough?」
I swear to God, if he ever asks me that question again I will personally strangle him. Asking me, with my shitty Drop Item luck, about chances of obtaining Drop Items?! You wanna start a war maybe? Because that is exactly how you start a war!
「Just a little heads up: when fighting them, do be careful of when they close their eyes, because that means they are getting ready for a special attack. Basically what you want to do is to slap them to death before they get the chance to retaliate.」
「Keith-san, how can you slap them if their faces are so big?」
Thank you very much for your input Irina but that Tsukkomi was unnecessary.
Oh well.
Hopefully now we’ll be able to reach S5 map without that many stops along the way.
About 10 minutes after we took off, we were attacked by Floating Heads.
That was much sooner than I initially anticipated!
We tried to run away from them, but they were gradually closing the distance between us at an astonishing pace.
But that works to our advantage in one regard.
While they are focused an chasing us at full speed, they won’t be able to use their special attack.
Guess that’s one thing we can be grateful for.
『What do we do?』
『I will intercept them. Just wait for a little while!』
I have to take them on because I’m probably the only one here who’s good at casting spells on the fly and used to conducting aerial battles.
「Fly!」
We’re dividing into three pairs, and then…
「Commence attack!」
『On it!』
『Here we go!』
We all spread to have our respective battles at once.
Purely out of curiosity, I decided to see how the enemies look from up close.
And it’s the absolute horror.
I don’t want to look at them anymore, so let’s just crush their eyes to be done with them as soon as possible!
I know I did that to satisfy my curiosity, but that was not what I wanted to see!
Now I’m going to have nightmares about it for a week to come!
The corpses of the Floating Heads get partially buried in the wetlands below us.
Even if we weren’t using any attack magic, the battle was still flashy.
But it was also still like the one taken straight out of a horror movie.
The Floating Heads were still bleeding from their necks for some reason.
Alright, now’s the time for me to do some damage!
I said that, but despite my accurate spear attacks, the MVP’s were still my Summoned Monsters, that fact absolutely cannot be denied.
Haruna slashed one of them with her knife, killing it.
And then something shiny appeared in her hand.
That shiny thing was an Opal.
I don’t understand.
How come she managed to get a rare drop from the first enemy she killed, and I can’t get it no matter how many of them I kill?!
『With how easy they are to kill, I feel like we could hunt them for the remainder of the day!』
『But we shouldn’t be forcing ourselves, right, Adel-chan?』
Yup, Irina’s right.
If we keep it up for too long, my MP bar is going to get exhausted sooner rather than later.
Even so, we’re lucky that the Floating Heads are so weak.
Were they always like that?
Or is it that the Fly spell is just too convenient?
But.
It doesn’t seem to work for Sphinx or Spinks.
We still have to go out of our way to block their special attacks.
So if we engage them in mid-air, we might not be able to handle all of their attacks properly.
It may be better to intercept them in the ground battle.
And besides, maybe we’ll find the possibility of another way of fighting them on the ground.
When I fought them before, I could not afford to try the sealing technique.
As the number of people increases, the EXP obtained will be lower, but consecutive battles will be possible.
Maybe even a series of night battles?
But that’s assuming that everything will go as planned.
On the S4 map we happened upon 4 more Floating Heads and obtained 2 more Topazes from slaying them.
Why are we getting so many rare drops here?
I don’t get it at all.
The time is now 11:20 AM.
We have finally arrived at the S5 map.
If not for all the battles earlier we would have arrived earlier, but there’s no point in dwelling on it now.
We are now at the Instant Portal, preparing to eat lunch.
「This really is a desert!」
「We really reached the S5 map, huh? I didn’t think we’d get here so soon.」
「But let’s take a break before we go any further, shall we?」
「Of course. First we eat, and then we continue the journey on foot.」
「Eh? We won’t be traveling by air anymore?」
「No. for now we’ll go by foot.」
They will understand why later, because fighting with that monster will be inevitable, since I plan on using Call Monster to summon it.
Now then.
I am having Bunraku prepare a meal for six people.
Meanwhile, I showed them my Large Scorpion, Peptide, as promised.
「Oh! Is this rare?」
「It appears at the Twelve Palaces, but it won’t join the battle until it’s summoned specifically, right?」
「Yep.」
「Keith, is it present here?」
「Yes. In the daytime, it tends to attack people by burying itself in the ground.」
「And at night?」
「It doesn’t attack as it tends to be sleeping.」
「At any rate, we should still be careful.」
「Well, I guess. For now we should all Log Out and then come back later. Are you all fine with that?」
「「Yes!」」
What a great chorus, you guys.
Everyone then said goodbye to each other and Logged Out.
Well then, now that everyone has Logged Out, I think it would be a great moment to change the composition of my team.
Peptide is going to be called back.
And Zangetsu and Volff will be added to the lineup in his place.
What is our goal for today?
That should be obvious, really.
It is the S5 map’s Area Portal of course!
