Chapter 292 Part 1
《【Hide】 Level Up!》
《【Conceal】 Level Up!》
Well, my skills are improving, but…
This last battle followed an unprecedented pattern.
Three Majins came to attack us as always.
But they weren’t riding Lesser Gryphons.
They came riding Svadilfari Slaves instead.
And they were followed by a pack of about twenty Garms.
I was surprised at first, but we still went ahead with our surprise attack.
And what was the result?
Of course, we completely annihilated them.
Modulus and the others used their spider webs to restrict their movements,
I thought that the Garms would be more of a threat, but there was no need to worry.
We had a chorus of two Mermaids.
And Kiyohime did her thing as well.
Most of the Garms were affected by the Charm status effect and withdrew from the battle.
One of them even turned on its allies, starting a fierce battle with each other.
Hey.
That actually works well for us, doesn’t it?
I guess it does.
It helped, so I can’t complain.
Besides, Garms aren’t very resilient, so as long as we intercept them in time, it’s all the same.
If there was a problem in this last battle, it was Indra’s Halberd.
Its long handle makes it unwieldy for swinging around.
How did I deal with this?
I let go of it.
Then I grabbed one of the Garms by the neck and twisted it.
This also proved to be very effective for eliminating them.
But it was all over too soon.
After the battle ended, Irina seemed to have an exasperated look on her face for some reason.
Don’t worry about it!
Really, don’t worry!
Still…
Time to switch Kotohogi out.
His MP bar is running very low.
I could let him recover here, but considering how this last battle went, that’s a different story.
Let’s bring someone who can act as a wall to counter the Garms’ attack power.
I recall Kotohogi and summon Jericho.
There’s been some changes in Adele and Irina’s Summoned Monsters.
It seems that both of their Mermaids leveled up at the same time.
And they can now undergo a Class Change.
They’re coming up nicely as well.
What were their choices after some consultation?
Adele’s Mermaid, Me-chan, became a Lorelei.
Irina’s Mermaid Tear turned into a Mellow.
Their appearance didn’t change much…
How strange.
Back when Nias Class Changed, she underwent several changes that couldn’t be seen as well.
Hmm.
Have my expectations and efforts been wasted?
I dare say I was looking forward to more visible changes!
What time is it?
It’s 6:10 PM.
I’ve already finished the third White Elephant Spear.
I’ve also just finished my portable food dinner.
This portable food is surprisingly delicious.
It feels like I’m having a rice ball.
While I was waiting for the Majin to attack, I killed time by sparring with Goki.
It’s boring to only fight with wooden swords.
Boring!
But I know why.
Our shields.
They’re quite sturdy, and carrying them is the right way to fight.
It definitely is the correct way to fight, but the flow of battle ends up becoming quite linear.
Isn’t it good to be able to read how a battle unfolds?
So what do we do?
We’ll fight without weapons.
I’ll challenge Goki to hand-to-hand combat.
I usually do this with Senki, but today it’s Goki’s turn.
Hmmm.
I can expect him to put up a tough fight.
But that’s exactly what I want.
「By the way, are you still okay with the time?」
『We can stay until about 7:30 PM』
『Unh… I want to get my Arachneeee…』
Is that so?
I guess she has some big expectations for today.
But don’t you think that staying up too late is poisonous to your health?
Well, I’m embarrassed to say that myself.
《【Javelin】 Level Up!》
《【Speedcasting】 Level Up!》
The time is 7:10 PM.
My level ups are fine and all, but…
Adele’s wish seems to have come true.
Her Big Spider Mo-chan has reached Level 8.
She quickly Class Changed her into a Room Spider.
Then she recalled her Lorelei before summoning her Succubus I-chan.
Without a single second’s worth of hesitation, a new Arachne appeared after Adele used Fuse Monsters.
What quick work!
And Irina’s ability to make a coat for the newly created Arachne was also admirable.
How splendid!
The Arachne’s name is A-chan.
What does that look like?
The only thing that can be confirmed is her face.
She has straight, shortly-cut black hair.
Her flawless facial features give her a very secretary-esque look.
She also gives me these “high school teacher with black-rimmed triangular glasses” vibes.
She looks like an intellectual.
Speaking of appearances alone, doesn’t she have something in common with Margrid and Irina?
Yes, although it’s just in terms of looks.
「Now that you’ve reached this milestone, you can log out, right?」
『I agree.』
『I have to prepare her equipment first!』
Just like yesterday, I decided to leave settling the bill for the commissioned equipment in the Silent Bamboo Woods for tomorrow.
Adele and Irina leave.
Now…
We still have some time left.
At night, I won’t be able to confirm the presence of any Majins, let alone that Kim Kui Slave.
Let’s keep hunting.
What’s my lineup going to be?
It’ll remain unchanged: Goki, Goukame, Modulus, Kiyohime, and Jericho.
Let’s keep going.
This’ll be over so long as I can quickly get rid of the Majins.
Since Modulus and Kiyohime are here, I can expect them to quickly be able to neutralize two Lesser Gryphons and 1 Majin with a high chance of success.
The rest is up to me.
That’s right.
With three Lesser Gryphons and three Majins, our odds of winning are more than enough.
But I had forgotten that their new pattern was three Svadilfari Slaves and three Majins.
And that they come with a pack of Garms, too.
This time there’s only around 10 of them.
But they can still end up being too much for us.
I have high hopes for Kiyohime here, but I think it would be nice to set up some kind of trap with a Spell.
And this is that Spell.
「Magma Field!」
I cast this Spell immediately after canceling my Instant Portal.
Those Garms are going to have to run on the ground covered by my Magma Field if they want to attack us.
That’s our trap.
Kiyohime’s Charm is very effective as well.
This time, two of the Garms start biting the leg of one of the Svadilfari Slaves, despite supposedly being on the same side.
Kiyohime’s MP bar seems to be decreasing, but I don’t mind.
Kiyohime wraps herself around the Svadilfari Slave’s leg to prevent it from moving, and starts sucking its blood.
This also inflicts the Poisoned status effect.
And what am I doing?
I throw my spear at the Exorcising Priest from atop of a tree, then follow up with a Kukri throw.
Then I jump down from the tree, driving my Indra’s Halberd into the neck of the Svadilfari Slave it’s riding.
Then I pull.
「Decisive Thrust!」
It is listed as a 【Pole Weapon】 Weapon Arte, but…
I gave it a try.
It seems that it strikes, then stabs, then slashes.
In that sense it’s more of a triple attack than just a thrust.
I can’t use it!
I expect an apology from the game’s Admins!
I had high hopes for this move!
I wish there were more decent Weapon Artes!
Basic attacks are much better than this.
They’re way, way better.
This doesn’t feel good at all.
It’s frustrating.
Before I know it, I’m letting go of Indra’s Halberd and find myself holding the Exorcising Priest on a sleeper hold after it fell from its Svadilfari Slave.
Then I press my Tokkosho against its ear and unfold its blade.
The blade goes through.
If you don’t get rid of this guy quickly, the Garms will come to attack me despite them taking damage from my Magma Field!
I leave neutralizing the Svadilfari Slave to Jericho and Gouki, and turn to face the Garms.
Most of the Garms were rushing in despite taking heavy damage from my trap.
Was the Magma Field a failure?
No, it wasn’t.
I set my Tokkosho to Lava Magic.
I could finish them off with a single blow of this weapon.
Some of them took two hits, but the reason why almost all of these were one-hits was probably that they’ve been constantly taking damage from my Magma Field.
The problem is that all of the Garms attacked me at the same time.
So I not only used my Tokkosho, but I also defended myself with kicks.
I also relied on headbutts.
It wasn’t very refined.
But despite that, it worked out just fine.
Killing them this quickly was huge.
I won’t be getting angry because I’ve been forced to run around kiting these dogs.
Well. I’ve taken quite a bit of damage.
So I guess I am going to get a little angry after all.
Time to vent, I guess.
Let’s take it out on these Svadilfari Slaves.
The two horses, whose movements were restrained by Modulus and Kiyohime, became the recipients of my venting.
Thank you for your sacrifice.
