Chapter 315 Part 3
Now…
How do I evaluate these opponents?
Would I describe them as strong?
Would I describe them as scary?
Would I describe them as impressive?
It’s hard to say.
But this is what I can say…
This is fun!
Don’t get me wrong.
This is very fun!
The moments when I feel just the right amount of tension are the best.
If I were to receive a direct hit from either the Guards or Guardians, it would probably be a disaster.
Abyss just proved that.
He’s taken an attack from the Guard with the pickaxe with his shield, but was still sent flying.
This made me worry about Kurama, but he seems to be pulling through.
I have to make a quick decision here.
While Volff and Obsidian are keeping the two Guardians in check, I’ll start taking care of the Guards.
These guys are definitely strong and scary.
But, you know…
I can’t help but feel numb, knowing that I know even scarier monsters.
Or perhaps should I say that having Telomere fighting alongside me is scary.
She looks thrilled indeed.
She easily avoids a direct hit from the one with the ax, and retaliates by shooting flames at close range.
Then she clobbers it on the head with her hammer.
She does this with a really nice smile on her face.
This is definitely the deed of a man-eating fiend.
After getting really close to the one with the sledgehammer, I position myself within its arm joint.
Then I go with a decisive punch and a throw before finishing it off with my Tokkosho.
This is just the standard combo.
I’m glad that I’m able to bring these big guys down regardless of the equipment I’m using.
Aside from Abyss, I thought this would be especially tough on Kurama, but…
It seems that the fact that the number of Guards was cut in half pretty early on had a very positive impact on his performance.
Yes, he is doing very well.
The one with the pickaxe is now at the mercy of Telomere, and Abyss and Kurama are taking turns attacking it.
As for me, I’ve broken the elbow of the one with the mace just before slitting its throat with my Tokkosho.
The Tokkosho was set to Steam Magic.
It looks like it’s dishing out a nice amount of damage.
Alright, who’s next?
Just the two Guardians now.
I’ll be taking care of the left-handed Mizar.
Let’s let the Summoned Monsters take care of Algol.
Telomere is with them, after all.
There is no doubt that that Heroic Spirit will meet with a terrible fate.
So, what about these Guardians?
They’re certainly superior.
This one is not only very powerful, but it also has a solid fighting style that utilizes its shield, leaving very few openings.
But, you know…
If the enemy leaves no openings, all I have to do is create one myself.
The problem is that it is left-handed.
I’m not used to fighting against left-handed opponents.
Surprisingly, creating an opening has taken me much longer than I had expected, and I ended up keeping the Summoned Monsters, who had already cleared Algol, waiting.
Of course, I won’t let you guys touch my prey.
I’m sorry, guys.
Wait a little longer, okay?
《【Fire Magic】Level Up!》
《【Water Magic】Level Up!》
《Summoned Monster『Abyss』 Level Up!》
《Please add 1 point to a desired stat.》
I was supposed to be used to fighting against opponents with shields, but it seems that left-handed opponents are still giving me a hard time after all.
I had a little trouble finishing it off.
And the damage I’ve taken from receiving multiple shield bashes from it wasn’t small at all.
I need to get used to fighting this kind of opponent, or I might be in trouble in the future.
Abyss’ DEX increased automatically upon leveling up.
Let’s choose AGI as his second stat increase.
Abyss Skeleton Fighter Lv5 → Lv6 (↑1)

Abyss’s HP bar seems to have recovered quite a bit while he was waiting for my battle to end.
No abnormal statuses on him either.
Should I review our lineup?
Abyss will be fine, so he can stay.
The one I should be concerned about is Kurama.
No, there’s something even more troubling than that.
These Heroic Spirits had no items on them.
They haven’t dropped a single thing upon being defeated.
The passageway is a simple straight road.
There are a few steps here and there, but this doesn’t hinder our movement at all.
We encountered the same kinds of Heroic Spirits two more times along the way.
But since on both occasions they had one less Guard than they had on our first encounter, we didn’t have to struggle as much.
I took on the initiative to take on the left-handed Guardians as my opponents. The left-handed Guardian took the initiative to take on the opponent.
I want to get used to fighting them.
That’s my wholehearted wish.
However, if I fight the same kind of opponent over and over again, I’ll eventually get bored of it.
And we don’t want that to happen, do we?

Looks like there were other Heroic Spirits around here.
But the characteristics of these ones are immediately obvious.
They’re all women, right?
Are you prepared for hand-to-hand combat?
Still, these ones are somewhat different from the other ones.
These ones aren’t wearing heavy equipment.
All three of the Guardians, who I’m assuming are of a higher rank than the Guards, are wielding rapiers.
Two of the Guards are using bows and arrows, and Coalsack is using a dagger.
Coalsack is the only one among them that is completely black.
Judging from their composition, it can be seen that their nature is completely different from the Heroic Spirit party from earlier.
I wonder if fighting these ones will be even more fun?
「True Fighting Spirit!」 「Bless!」 「Meditate!」 「Intelligence Attack!」
However, what I do remains the same.
I can’t change it.
I have to give it my all.
This is natural since I have no further information about them.
《【Sword】Level Up!》
《【Light Magic】Level Up!》
《【Steam Magic】Level Up!》
Was it an enjoyable battle?
Not at all.
Just as I expected.
They were all speed based fighters!
If it weren’t for Volff and Obsidian, they could have ended up checkmating us.
Good grief, they were very treacherous.
In the end, the match ended before I was able to perform any Joint Locks or throwing techniques on any of them.
Be free from obstructive thoughts…
Be free from obstructive thoughts…
Hah!
No good.
My mind is filled with wicked thoughts!
What time is it?
It’s about 4:20 PM.
We’ve come across a change in the passageway that was once a straight road.
It’s a fork in the road.
The path to the left seems to be going down.
And the one to the right seems to be going up.
Up to this point, the passage seems to have been gradually descending.
So, would heading right be the correct way to exit this place?
Besides, there’s that…
The path to the left keeps descending, so we should probably not take that path regardless.
We’ve been warned about that very clearly.
It’s Cerberus.
It appears to be sleeping face down in the middle of the aisle.
Well…
Of its three heads, the one on the far right appears to be awake.
The other two had their eyes completely closed and seemed to be asleep.
The awake head casts glances at me, but makes no attempt to show interest.
What would Adele do?
I suppose she would try to pet it.
And then Irina would stop her.
I can imagine such a scene.
Of course, I wouldn’t do any of the sort.
I’ll simply continue quietly towards the right path!
《Summoned Monster『Kurama』 Level Up!》
《Please add 1 point to a desired stat.》
The time is 5:20 PM.
Has the time to undergo a Class Change come thanks to all of the difficult fights he’s been having?
No, I suppose the Heroic Spirits do yield quite a bit of experience points after being defeated.
Kurama’s DEX increased automatically upon leveling up.
Let’s choose AGI as his second stat increase.

《Please go to the Status Menu to access the Class Change options》
「Gishashah!」
Yeah…
I wonder if he’ll become a little quieter once he becomes a Gohou?
Though in a way, that feels a bit sad.
I deploy an Instant Portal and get everything ready for a Class Change as usual.
Well, I’m already sure what option I’m going to go for, but let’s do the usual anyway.
《This Summoned Monster cannot be fused.》
Fusion Identification, check.
Now let’s take off his equipment.
Let’s double-check the Class Change options, shall we?
Class Change Options:
Gohou
Rakshasa
I can’t go wrong here.
It’s an immediate decision.

【Gohou】 Summoned Monster Battle Position: Ground
An Oni who has converted to Buddhism. Uses weapons to attack.
It has a physique comparable to that of a human, and is skilled enough to be able to perform both at the vanguard and the rear guard roles.
It can use any kind of man-made weapon.
《This Summoned Monster cannot be fused.》
I immediately occupied its vacant Skill slot with the Two-handed Spear Skill.
For now, I can just give him the White Elephant Long Spear, but…
Oh well, I guess I’ll make him a new spear someday, whenever I have some extra time.
Even so, the change in appearance is so drastic!
He still has the harsh face of an Oni, but the major difference is that his horns are gone.
His hairstyle also resembles that of a Buddhist statue, tied into a single knot on top of his head.
Like a man bun.
There’s nothing cute about it.
What about his equipment?
Well, he had already been wearing the same gear as Goki was using when he was a Rakshasa.
So there’s no need to make any major adjustments.
He might be a bit slim compared to Rakshasa, though.
I also had him try swinging a few weapons for a while, but I don’t think he’ll have any problems with that either.
In fact, it feels like he’s better suited for fighting with two swords.
We had a few more fights without changing the lineup.
What’s the result?
It looks like Kurama’s fighting style has become more sophisticated.
And he doesn’t do his old cries anymore.
His attitude of actively participating in battle remains unchanged.
He still attacks repeatedly as if absorbed into the battle like always.
However, his happy-go-lucky attitude has disappeared.
Oh well.
At least he has definitely improved in terms of fighting power.
That aside…
I should reconsider my lineup.
I can see a light at the end of the cave.
It’s probably the exit.
The time is 5:40 PM.
It should still be bright outside.
So I have to bring Telomere and Abyss back and replace them with other members.
I could wait until nightfall before proceeding, but I’d like to see the terrain while it’s still daylight.
Let’s recall Telomere, Abyss, and Kurama.
And while we’re at it, let’s use the Magic Cloth to repair our gear.
《【Alchemy】Level Up!》
Alright.
I wasn’t expecting that Level Up.
Oh yeah, what should I summon to replace those three?
It’s going to be night soon, and my destination is W7 Map.
I want to improve our fighting power.
I summon Senki, Ninetails, and Tigris.
Well, I’m sure this lineup will make it work somehow.
First, let’s figure out what kind of terrain is up ahead.
