Chapter 321 Part 3
After the meal, Juna and Master had a few drinks.
Who would’ve thought…
As for me, I excused myself by saying that I wanted to do some night hunting.
「Hunting, around here?」
「Is it not allowed?」
「No, but haven’t you had enough for today?」
「If I walk a little further ahead, you should probably find some monsters.」
「Ah, I’m sure there are some. But they could end up being boring opponents.」
「As he is now, Keith might not find hunting those satisfactory.」
Is that so?
Well, I would appreciate it if the fights were worth it.
「There aren’t many monsters around here. But if you go a little further north, you should find some.」
「Please be back by tomorrow morning! Ah, I’ll make arrangements so you can go through the mansion’s gate on your own.」
「Sure.」
Half of it was just an excuse to refrain from drinking, though.
After that, I saw myself out.
I’m now in the middle of the forest at night.
However, if you look at it from the sky during the day, you’ll see several mansions in the area.
Even after checking the surroundings with Call Monster, I found no monsters.
Actually, can I use the area portal menu here?
Maybe.
I check on the wide area map.
The name of the area portal is Shirakabe Castle.
Maybe this area portal is quite large?
It certainly feels like that.
Oh well, anyway…
Let’s make a lineup centered around traveling for night hunting.
Volff, Obsidian, Florin, Oma, and Kyokuya.
Traveling is our priority.
I’m actually the slowest one in this formation, though.
According to Master, there’s a chance that the monsters in this area aren’t even worth my time.
I’m not sure how much of that I can trust when this comes from Master and Juna’s standpoint.
Well, if they end up being too weak, I’ll make the necessary adjustments.
A forest spreads out to the north.
How is it going so far?
I’m sure these are too weak for those two.
But it’s not all that easy.
Long time no see, Kobolds!
That’s right.
There are Kobolds here.
So, are they too weak?
No, they’re actually quite strong.
This is what they looked like when I tried 【Identify】 on them:
Kobold Guard Lv.7
Demon Enemy Target Active
Battle Position: Ground Dark Attribute
Kobold Knight Lv.7
Demon Enemy Target Active
Battle Position: Ground
Kobold Fighter Lv.10
Demon Enemy Target Active
Battle Position: Ground
Kobold Archer Lv.10
Demon Enemy Target Active
Battle Position: Ground
Kobold Fencer Lv.9
Demon Enemy Target Active
Battle Position: Ground
Kobold Ranger Lv.9
Demon Enemy Target Active
Battle Position: Ground
Kobold Shaman Lv.7
Demon Enemy Target Active
Battle Position: Ground Dark Attribute Fire Attribute
Kobold Assassin Lv.9
Demon Enemy Target Active
Battle Position: Ground Dark Attribute
Their levels are high, and some of them seem to be quite strong as well.
And it’s a group of 20 of them all of a sudden.
Not bad.
Not bad at all, right?
But as expected, Master was right.
There’s something about them that just isn’t satisfactory.
That’s how I feel.
【Material】 Ear of Rice Raw Material Grade C+ Rarity 2 Weight 0+
A bunch of rice ears. The variety is unknown.
【Material】 Tangerine Raw Material Grade C Rarity 2 Weight 0+
A slightly small mandarin orange. The variety is unknown.
Still…
It seems that these drop different items here.
They also drop plums and peaches, but I don’t care about that anymore.
Ear of Rice.
Rice!
They’re giving me rice!
I wouldn’t find them to be satisfactory opponents?
Forget about that!
I’ll call more of these Kobolds and show my appreciation to them for their harvest!
Of course I’ll hunt them.
I want more of those Ears of Rice.
To think that you can enjoy eating rice in this game.
A new possibility has emerged.
This is a turning point for this game.
Of course, I’m making full use of Call Monsters, but some other monsters were drawn in as well.
Like these ones:
Holy Wraith Lv.8
Demon Enemy Target Active
Battle Position: Ground Light Atribute Dark Attribute Spacetime Attribute Fire Attribute
There’s three of them.
Looks like these ones are the ones you encounter when flying here at night.
Aren’t these the same ones that used to fight alone on the W2 Map?
Here they come in groups of three, and their level is quite high.
They’re a little tough, but they still don’t feel like a formidable enemy anymore.
I’m glad that the Five Elemental Seal works well against these..
Noble Orc Lv.10
Demon Enemy Target Active
Battle Position: Ground
Where did I fight one of these before?
Try to remember.
This one is followed by four Orc Leaders, all of which are of high level.
There are some regular Orcs as well, but they’re just a common mob, so I’ll omit them.
But the Noble Orc didn’t leave any items behind!
The same goes for the Orc Leaders.
What about the regular Orcs?
Nothing either.
Hmm…
Have I managed to grasp the monster patterns in this area?
Which of these should we be wary of?
I guess that’s gonna be the Kobold Assassin after all?
Not even Call Monsters can detect its presence.
In that case, Florin should remain vigilant.
With my current lineup of Vollf, Obsidian, Florin, Oma, and Kyokuya, fighting these is easy peasy!
I can also handle these opponents with my bare hands halfway through.
That’s right.
Let’s change the lineup.
I’ll choose Taylor, Florin, Peptide, Yukiwa, and Kurama.
We’ll have the crab and scorpion as frontliners, so they’ll be our wall.
Leaving Kurama in the center seems to be the most balanced way to do this.
What about me?
I’ll be targeting the enemies that seem to be the most troublesome first.
It might be good for me to train my weaker Skills.
Perhaps I should use the Lion Sage’s Foil as my main weapon?
Let’s go with that, together with a Petrified Wood Tonfa in an irregular dual wield set, and just in case, I’ll also keep the black rope on hand.
Of course, I should use my javelin and kukris.
Well then…
Kobolds, come!
Come at me!
Actually, no, that’s not it.
Please let me have your rice!
《Summoned Monster『Taylor』 Level Up!》
《Please add 1 point to a desired stat.》
Hmm.
Should I continue to have him performing as our wall?
Taylor doesn’t care about his MP getting drained.
He has no Skills to use it for.
Well, he’d be in trouble if it weren’t for me using Dark Heal on him.
Taylor’s AGI increased automatically upon leveling up.
Huh, that’s weird.
Let’s choose DEX as his second stat increase.
Taylor Karkinos Lv3 → Lv4 (↑1)
DEX 11 (↑1)
AGI 11 (↑1)
INT 6
STR 36
VIT 30
SPI 6
Skills
Pincer Strike Aquatic Water Attribute Earth Resistance
Nice and simple.
Though he’s a little too simple.
Well, I’m sure he’ll have his time to shine.
At the sea…
I hope that he will do well when I decide to train the Dolphin Apnea.
《【Rapier】Level Up!》
《Summoned Monster『Kurama』 Level Up!》
《Please add 1 point to a desired stat.》
The time is 9:40 PM.
We’re not done yet.
Even though Kurama just leveled up, I won’t be replacing him yet.
Kurama’s VIT increased automatically upon leveling up.
Let’s choose STR as his second stat increase.
Kurama Gohou Lv1 → Lv2 (↑1)
DEX 21
AGI 18
INT 10
STR 22 (↑1)
VIT 22 (↑1)
SPI 10
Skills
Sword Dagger Two-handed Spear Buckler Block Evade Hide Night Vision
Anyway, Kurama isn’t using his shield at all, probably because he has Taylor and Peptide on both sides.
So he’s dual wielding a sword and a dagger.
Looking good!
Hmm?
I can’t let myself lag behind him now, can I?
《【Rope Arts】Level Up!》
《【Jump】Level Up!》
《【Acrobatics】Level Up!》
《Summoned Monster『Peptide』 Level Up!》
《Please add 1 point to a desired stat.》
I haven’t been using the Lion Sage’s Foil much lately.
But when I do, it always feels so fresh.
And I get used to it quickly.
Since I’m also using a tonfa, I used Intelligence Attack as well.
Was it effective?
It probably was.
Though I can’t really tell if Kobolds are my opponents!
Peptide’s DEX increased automatically upon leveling up.
I’ll choose AGI as his second stat increase.
Peptide Desert Scorpion Lv3 → Lv4 (↑1)
DEX 22 (↑1)
AGI 18 (↑1)
INT 7
STR 21
VIT 21
SPI 7
Skills
Pincer Strike Sting Evade Conceal Hide Ambush
Deadly Poison Fire Resistance
Peptide’s Deadly Poison is very strong.
I know it’s atrocious, but it also interrupts the Kobolds’ calls for friends.
Oh, well…
There’s nothing wrong with becoming stronger.
However…
Let’s finish our night hunt here.
The time is 10:50 PM.
Let’s go back to Juna’s mansion.
Though I could also use an Instant Portal and log out here…
But it’s a bit scary.
So I should probably play it safe and head towards Juna’s mansion.
