Chapter 333 Part 3

Crossing the border between the W6 Map and the N1W6 Map was easy.
It seems that just because it’s seven squares away doesn’t mean there’s always some sort of obstacle.
So, what about the terrain here?
There’s considerably less forest.
It’s more of a grassland.
A light-green grassland.

The weather is nice.
And yet…
Suspicious presences were clearly visible.

Clouds.
Conspicuously black clouds.
It’s very likely that some kind of monster will be coming out soon.
Now, what will it be?

 Fuutenki Lv.7
 Fierce God Enemy Target Active
Battle Position: Ground, Mid-Air Wind Attribute

 Raitenki Lv.7
 Fierce God Enemy Target Active
Battle Position: Ground, Mid-Air Lightning Attribute

Wait.
Why are you guys flying in the sky?

I know it’s been a long time since I’ve encountered these kinds of monsters.
I remember trying to challenge them inside a cave to the east.

It’s like each of them is riding a cloud like a surfboard, and using it to fly through the sky.
What’s up with that? I want one…
Wait, I shouldn’t be thinking about that.

There’s some kind of trick with those clouds themselves, isn’t there?
The Fuutenki and the Raitenki unleash fierce winds and lightning strikes, but so do their clouds.
Could those be some kind of equipment?
In any case, they’re quite troublesome.
Since they are in mid-air, the difference in maneuverability isn’t significant.
Though we have the advantage, approaching them is quite difficult.
It would be impossible without taking damage.

However, what about firing off attacks from a long distance?
It’s not ideal.
I think we’ll win eventually if we go that route, but we have to be prepared for a long, exhausting battle.
If we’re going to expend our resources anyway, it’s better to settle things early.

「Rider-Horse Union!」

Which is why I’m doing this instead.
The other Summoned Monsters will be on support duty.
It’ll be an aerial battle.
I’ll leave it up to Aotsuki to a certain extent, but the main hitter has to be me.
I wield the Lion Sage’s Lance.
How much damage can I deal with a single strike?

《【Synergy】Level Up!》
《【Paralysis Resistance】Level Up!》

Did it work somehow?
Yes, it did.
A pair made of a Fuutenki and a Raitenki, huh?
The Fuutenki seems to have a higher attack power, but the Raitenki is more troublesome.
Its lightning attacks cause Paralysis.
Naturally, I wanted to strengthen our resistances, but I went with Resist Thunder.
After that, it was a matter of defeating them one by one.
First, the Fuutenki.
Then the Raitenki.
Well, it wasn’t without us taking some damage, but this was good enough.

I looted their corpses after they fell from the ground…
And I got a Strange Rock Salt (Magic).
Well, it’s better than nothing.

Besides, I sense trouble.
I can see clouds that look like those of Fuutenki and Raitenki in the distance.
So there seem to be quite a lot of them.

And I don’t even know what’s on the ground.
That’s a problem.
But I have a hunch.
What was the Map adjacent to this one?
Right…
N1W5, the Oni Map.
Maybe this place is a continuation of that.

 Deva Emperor – A-gyo Lv.2
 Heavenly General Enemy Target Active
Battle Position: Ground Fire Attribute Water Resistance

 Deva Emperor – Un-gyo Lv.2
 Heavenly General Enemy Target Active
Battle Position: Ground Earth Attribute Wind Resistance

 Deva Emperor – A-gyo Lv.2
 Heavenly General Enemy Target Active
Battle Position: Ground Wind Attribute Fire Resistance

 Deva Emperor – Un-gyo Lv.2
 Heavenly General Enemy Target Active
Battle Position: Ground Water Attribute Earth Resistance

Dangerous.
Is this the Oni Map?
Wait, that’s not it.

These ones are on the ground.
What would happen if we fought them from the air?

No, I can’t.
There’s no way!
Because their interception formation is perfect.
They use walls a lot.
It’s especially troublesome when a stone wall is built right in front of me.
That’s why their defense is perfect.

No, it’s not a joke.
They’re taking almost no damage!
These guys…
The way they fight is completely different from those back in that cave!

What’s more frightening are the Deva Emperors themselves.
They have long scarf-like pieces of cloth wrapped from both arms to their back.
Although it is for a short time, these fly through the air and attack us.
Of course, their weapon is the Tokkosho.
But they throw other things at us too.

A flaming spear.
A lump of earth.
A wind vortex.
A water disk.

They’re very diverse.
None of them was a direct hit, but I did get hit by about half of those.
Wouldn’t it be better to handle this on the ground?
Because it seems like we can engage in hand-to-hand combat.
That’s right.
It’s unthinkable to try to attack these guys from the air!

I’m glad we were able to kill him in the end.
No level-ups.
And no items dropped.

Hmm.
I could’ve forgiven them if only they had dropped a single Tokkosho.
Should I engage with those Fuutenkis and Raiteknis from a higher altitude?
I ought to enjoy some aerial combat for aerial combat’s sake.
And the same goes for ground combat.
Attacking Trolls and Ogres from the air doesn’t seem feasible.
It’s quite troublesome.
Let’s deal with any Deva Generals from the ground as intended.
But not now.
I want to check the Area Portal first.

《Summoned Monster『Kotohogi』 Level Up!》
《Please add 1 point to a desired stat.》

Hmm.
The W7 Map has been a constant struggle, and it seems like this map is equally challenging.
Maybe that alone makes it worth it to try and earn experience points here as well?

Kotohogi’s SPI increased automatically upon leveling up.
I’ll choose AGI as his second stat increase.

Kotohogi Incubus Lv5 → Lv6 (↑1)

But the Info screen continues.
Which is good, cause it would’ve been pretty bad otherwise.

《Summoned Monster『Ignis』 Level Up!》
《Please add 1 point to a desired stat.》

Some level-ups.
It’s definitely more enjoyable this way.

Ignis’s AGI increased automatically upon leveling up.
I’ll choose VIT as his second stat increase.

Ignis Fighting Falcon Lv5 → Lv6 (↑1)

I’ve been fighting mainly against pairs of Fuutenkis and Raitenkis.
I’ve also confirmed that there are other opponents on the ground.
Well, that was within expectations.

 Lion-Dog A-Gyo Lv.11
 Divine Messenger Enemy Target Passive
 Battle Position: Ground Fire Attribute

 Lion-Dog Un-Gyo Lv.11
 Divine Messenger Enemy Target Passive
 Battle Position: Ground Dark Attribute

Let’s ignore these.
That’s right.
Following this pattern, it wouldn’t be surprising to encounter other types of Lion-Dog.

If I maintain the altitude, they will turn passive quickly, and they won’t get in my way.
The problem is?
The Area Portal.

What will come out?
I understand the trend for monsters here.
The question is, what exactly will happen?

Alright.
The center of the N1W6 Map is close.
A strange presence is clearly visible in the plains.

It’s a temple.
It looks quite ruined.
The grounds themselves seem to be quite large.
I expected it to be some kind of Buddhist temple.
And that’s exactly what it looks like!

I descend and enter the temple grounds.
The Area Portal menu is unusable.
Even on the wide area map, I can’t confirm the name of the Area Portal.
Tension is running high.
Let’s proceed cautiously.
An Area Portal release battle seven squares away, huh?
This wasn’t the W7 Map.
So which is more difficult, Defense Valley in N2E12, or this one?
Maybe I should count on 【Heroic Summoning】for this one.
How’s my MP bar?
It’s almost 80%.
Just in case, I’ll use a Mana Potion to heal it to over 90%.

Let’s take a look at the potential battlefield.
There is a large temple in front, and there are some soul-like fireballs on top of something that looks like an offering box.
There was a fairly large space in front of it.
It seems fine to engage in mounted combat with Aotsuki.
Any potential obstacles?
Some stone lanterns and maybe the destroyed bell tower?
They shouldn’t pose much of a hindrance, though.

The lineup needs to be revised.
What’s the plan?
When it comes to ground combat, let’s focus on mobility.

Volff, Obsidian, Oma, Kyokuya, and Aotsuki.
I buff all of us up with my strengthening spells.
Next…
Power Water for everyone.
And a Suttungr’s Mead (Minor) for myself.
I also use Sense Magic.
Are we all ready?
Alright.
Let’s do this.
