Chapter 348 Part 1
348
It’s been a while since I had pasta for a meal.
Rice is good too though.
Dinner today was a bit of a curve ball.
Well, this is fine too.
Now then.
Our current position is southeast of the S2W5 Map, close to the border with the S2W4 Map.
It seems like we could shorten the distance if we move diagonally towards the S3W4 Map.
But I’m afraid of the unknown, not knowing what might happen.
No, in fact, the S2W4 Map is an undead hell engulfed in a permanent night.
It’s not a bad idea to stay here to farm for some experience points.
I mean, as long as it is without stress.
If the battles get too heated, we’ll have to move.
There are large undead creatures like Skeleton Mammoths on that map.
Although I don’t think they’ll get too heated.
After I’m done tidying up, I’ll recall Bunraku.
And who do I summon?
Let’s go with Volff.
Let’s focus on exploration as well.
At night, we might encounter monsters I’ve never seen before.
What should I use as my main weapon?
I’ll go with Indra’s Secret Sword.
It’s likely that my opponents will be related to Horse-types.
This weapon should be good for mowing down at the horses’ legs.
Before I could use Call Monster, we were attacked.
Volff sensed the enemy’s presence before that, though.
At first, a Bicorn with a Bicorn Knight on its back appeared all of a sudden.
But these numbers now seem a little higher than usual.
However, we anticipated this.
And we have countermeasures.
I’ll use Indra’s Secret Sword wrapped in cold air to strike at the Bicorns’ legs.
Delivering a hard blow to their forelegs is relatively easy.
However, you have to do something about the attacks of the Bicorn Knights on their backs.
Having Florin and Telomere here to help keep those in check is a blessing.
When things go well, it seems I can sever both forelegs and also inflict damage on the hind legs.
This Indra’s Secret Sword truly is a very powerful weapon.
If all you care about is the fruits of battle, this weapon is definitely the right choice.
Even so, I still feel a sense of discomfort.
Is my training still insufficient?
Burka Lv.4
Demon Enemy Target Active
Battle Position: Ground Light Attribute Dark Attribute
It looks like a horse shining faintly in the darkness.
Its fur is chestnut-colored.
Both its tail and mane are long, making it very noticeable in the dark.
And there’s a group of about twenty of these here.
But something feels off.
This feeling, where have I felt it before?
Ah, that’s it.
Whatsitsname… Sivka?
These remind me of that Phantom Horse.
No way.
Could it be?
Yes indeed!
Most of these twenty monsters are illusions.
But that’s not all.
They’re not just ordinary illusions; coming into contact with them causes damage.
They explode!
What on earth is this?
It’s a terrifying attack.
But what about walls?
The explosions could be blocked with a Stone Wall, but it was all about timing.
These monsters could easily avoid my walls.
Or rather, they can leap over them!
Even though they’re illusions!
No, isn’t it precisely because they’re illusions?
Even if they come into contact with Yukiwa and explode, it will take no damage.
It seems like these explosions aren’t treated as a spell, but a purely physical attack.
There was no point in trying to hit these illusory phantom horses with offensive spells.
Moreover, I thought the number of phantoms would decrease as they exploded.
But they seem to be increasing, right?
No, it feels like those who have exploded are being replaced with new ones.
It seems that Volff, Florin, and Telomere are unable to distinguish between the phantoms and the real ones.
What to do?
What should I do?
An area-of-effect offensive spell?
Too cumbersome.
Let’s smash the ones that appear in front of us!
I’ve somehow started to understand how these guys work.
There’s one main body.
The Hexagram Seal is effective, but the phantoms already generated won’t disappear.
After killing the main body, four illusions seem to have disappeared.
So there are four illusions per main body.
For example, right now, I see five Burkas in front of me.
Which one is real?
There should only be one real one among these.
No, it’s better to take things seriously here.
I’m prepared to accept damage from the explosions and go after all of them.
This is the most reliable method.
All markers are set to the same display:
Supplementary Phantom?
But let’s not worry about that.
It’s faster to take them all down before more can appear!
These monsters are certainly strong.
But more than that, they’re a pain to deal with.
Too troublesome for my taste.

The skin of a Burka’s rear.
The chestnut hair is slightly thin for horse hide, but it’s damp and heavy.
The larger the piece, the higher its value.
I obtained one piece of these for every four horses I’ve skinned.
I take back what I said.
If you’re going to give me items, then I’m willing to make compromises.
You can come and attack me more often if you want.
Or rather, I should be able to summon these, right?
But it’s a shame.
The main bodies and their illusions do get detected by Call Monster.
But they only come halfway towards me when I try to summon them with it.
It seems they turn Passive quickly.
Well, they seem likely to attack us eventually, so should I just leave it like this?

They’re the same familiar faces I saw earlier today.
That’s right.
The only change here is that they’ve changed their mounts from Hippogryphs to Nightmares.
Is it just my imagination, or are their Levels higher than the ones I fought during the day?
No, there’s something else I’m more concerned about…
The Nightmares.
These horses’ hides are pitch black, but their eyes are deep crimson in color.
The color of blood.
For some reason, just looking at them gives off an atmosphere of fear.
And it’s starting at Level 10 from the get-go; isn’t that quite high?
How powerful are they?
I’m curious.
And their numbers are also concerning.
There’s almost twenty of these horses.
There’s something I want to say to the riders:
Even though you have such impressive horses, aren’t you lacking in ingenuity?
I thought the same about the ones riding on Hippogryphs from earlier.
What’s the difficulty level of these Nightmares?
They seem to be much tougher than Burkas.
I haven’t been able to slice through their forelegs with a direct hit from Indra’s Secret Sword yet.
Well, the riders still usually end up falling to the ground along with the Nightmares as a result, but still.
However, we don’t have to deal with the hassle of fighting like with Burkas.
That’s helpful.
The Nightmares’ valiant struggle is truly worthy of praise.
Even when they fall, they immediately get up and let loose with dark strips.
Very commendable indeed.
Even when they get attacked by Florin or Telomere, they don’t flinch from having their blood sucked.
Even when possessed by Yukiwa and having their MP bars drained, they don’t seem to care.
Even when their MP bars are depleted from Volff’s attacks, they don’t stop moving.
Hey, Death Knights.
Why don’t you follow your horses’ example?
How come you’re the ones who get demolished by a single blow from Indra’s Secret Sword?
Well, perhaps this is because I go to chop off their heads when they’ve fallen off their mounts?
Neither the Death Sorcerers nor the Death Archers can endure such a blow.
The Death Knight and Death Soldiers do try to block with their arms.
The Death Soldiers get both their arms cut in half alongside their necks.
A second blow is enough to cut the Death Knight’s neck in half.
But I’ve never managed to sever the head of a fallen Nightmare.
It’s terrifying.
And they don’t have any armor on them.
The fact that they can constantly shoot out dark strips is somewhat troublesome, but for me, there’s no doubt that these ones are much easier to fight than Burkas.
Well, I owe that entirely to Indra’s Secret Sword, though.
Nevertheless, Abyss is calmly engaging in combat with the fallen Death Knight and the others.
Well, it’s understandable.
At first, he managed to get a few direct hits on the Nightmares.
But then he ended up being blown away.
It’s the tragedy of being lightweight.
Of course, Abyss took some damage, but he wasn’t bothered by it.
He’s still moving energetically.
Yeah.
As an Undead, Abyss is technically already dead.
But he’s still very energetic.

One side is jet black and shines depending on the angle it is viewed from.
It’s somewhat thick for horse hide and a bit stiff.
The larger the piece, the higher its value.
Even after we’ve defeated so many of these guys, there’s only one item?
This is an affront to Professor【Dissasembly】!
It didn’t seem like we were going to win this one, though.

Thanks.
