Summoner is Going c236 – Part 2
During our chat, right when Adele and Irina were done with their business, Mio came out with a few dishes.
It looked like a platter of food.
Huh?
Was it already that time of the day?
I checked, and found out it was 6:20 pm.
Our chat went on for a scary amount of time.
It wasn’t much, but I did buy something too.
I got this:
【Weapon: Horseback Spear】Tempered Iron Horseback Spear Grade C+ Rarity 4
AP+16 Power 4+ Weight 4+ Durability 250
A horseback spear that is specially designed for assaults on horseback.
It does not have a blade and therefore cannot be used for cutting.
There is a triangular pyramid-shaped plate between the tip and the handle to protect the hands of the wielder.
A weapon suited to dealing huge amounts of damage by cavalry charges.
It wasn’t that strong of a weapon compared to the spear I was currently using.
But there was a reason behind why I wanted to use this weapon.
It was because of my new【Horseback Spear】skill.
In my case, there were many opportunities to fight on horseback.
It would be a good weapon to have on hand.
It seemed like a bit of a waste to not use a weapon specially geared to that fighting style.
It wasn’t cheap, but I could afford it.
There were no problems.
While I was at it, I also bought a Silver Necklace for Gengetsu.
It was something haphazardly but together out of parts, but the size managed to fit right.
The silver necklace that Jean used to use before it was inherited by Ligand was too small for Gengetsu.
I bought myself another one without any reservations.
Looking at Gengetsu’s fighting style, it was definitely a must-have.
The last thing on my to-do list was to fix my weapons and armour.
I asked Helga for help, and she was more than happy to help out.
It had been a long time since my last repair so as expected, the repair cost me eight Magic Stones.
What a scary amount.
Combining all the small repairs of every weapon and piece of armour together added up to quite a large amount.
I had just enough magic stones to cover the repair. I didn’t want to think about what I would do if I didn’t have enough.
It was a very real possibility. I didn’t tend to spend my free time staring at my inventory, after all.
I continued chatting with the people at the stall as I watched Helga repair even the weapons and armour belonging to Adele and Irina.
As we continued talking, I stumbled upon an interesting-sounding piece of news.
It was about rubber.
It was on the rubber equipment I had run into in the past.
What about it?
「The people at Kaya’s place have been asking us for our opinion on their rubber equipment.」
「It definitely does seem like it could come in useful somehow.」
Yep, I remembered hearing a similar story in the past. Maybe.
Wait, probably?
I had a feeling there would be a lot of information already lying around on how to make vulcanised rubber…
The time was 8:50 pm.
After a very long chat, I decided to call it a night.
But before that.
「Just to be sure, but I’ll be the only one to log out here, right?」
「Yep, makes sense.」
Yep, that was right.
That was our initial purpose for coming all the way to the Wind Spirit Village after all.
With this, using Return Home, we could instantly teleport to three places whenever we wanted to.
If I were to use Return Home, the spell would send us to the Relay Portal at the southern end of the S5 map.
If Adele were to use Return Home, it would send us to the Grey Forest, the Area Portal of the S3 map.
And for Irina, it would send us to the Wind Spirit Village.
It would definitely make our future operations a lot easier.
As soon as Irina came back, we were back on the move.
Well, having said that, we were about to call it a day anyway.
We all recalled our Summon Monsters and formed a party of just three members.
Our preparations were quite simple.
「See you later!」
「Thanks!」
Adele and Mio exchanged lively greetings.
It’s already late, so please try not to yell so much, you’re being a bother to those around us!
But that wasn’t something I could say out loud.
We left the Wind Spirit Village.
As soon as we left the village, Adele cast Return Home.
The surrounding scenery shifted in a moment.
The next moment, we were suddenly in the Grey Forest.
Wow! It really was a very useful strategy!
「Well then, we’ll part ways here, I suppose.」
「See you tomorrow!」
Adele and Irina decided to log out.
Of course, using an Instant Portal, though.
We quickly decided to meet in the Grey Forest the next day, and they were off.
The time was still 9 pm…
I still had the time to do some more hunting.
I just had to make sure I didn’t die.
If I died here, I would lose everything.
But it was still a manageable risk.
I also still had nearly 70% of my MP bar still remaining.
I would do just fine.
Now then, what kind of Summon Monster team did I want to go for?
In the unlikely event that the hunt would result in my death…
I wanted to make sure my Summon Monster team was the strongest it could be.
I mainly wanted to try hunting…
Float Heads.
Of course, both Onimushas and Bugbears would be welcome too.
Well then.
I decided to go with Volff, Bunraku, Gokame, Telomere, and Peptide.
My basic idea was to call monsters to me and then intercept their attacks.
I would be in the front, along with Peptide and Gokame, and Bunraku would be fighting from the back.
Volff would be a watcher and a scout.
Telomere could support us closely from the skies.
It was a good strategy.
But what was my goal?
I wanted to level up Peptide, and I wanted to level up Gokame and get his Class Change.
If possible, I wanted to try taking care of both of those goals in one night.
Well, I just had to try it and see what would happen.
I used strengthening spells.
Of course, this time, at triple the efficiency.
I was finally starting to get used to the new system of casting strengthening spells.
Of course, I was sure to use【Resist Thunder】too.
I used Call Monster to call the monsters around me.
Any monster would do, as long as it was nearby.
I’ll convert all of them into experience points!
The Float Heads that night were a bit different.
If I had to give a reason as to why, I would say…
Because I managed to pick up two gemstones as item drops in a row!
Thanks.
【Disassembly】, thank you so much.
And on top of that, they were good gems like opal and topaz too!
But there were some things I was concerned about.
Their item drops were good, but there weren’t that many Float Heads around.
It almost made me cry.
The only way to clear my mind off of that was to continue slaughtering other monsters.
The most common monster that night ended up being the Bugbear.
I also tried some unusual spells while I was at it too.
I wanted to try using Heat Body.
The first time I tried using it against an Onimusha, the effect was tremendous.
It was way more effective than I imagined.
Originally, there was little merit in using joint locks in large group battles.
Because it wouldn’t make sense to immobilise one enemy, only to be attacked by all the other monsters in the swarm.
Well, of course.
Well, having said that, in all the battles so far, I was employing a style of fighting that depended on my Summon Monsters quite a bit.
But still, Heat Body was quite the amazing spell.
It allowed me to kill the Onimusha in no time.
Apparently, the greater the contact area, the greater the damage.
My whole body was essentially turned into a Prison Guard’s Black Rope.
I could definitely use this for great things.
I meant to hunt with a serious mindset, but using Heat Body was just too much fun.
Besides the Bugbears, I also used it on the Float Heads.
Was that even okay?
Well I could make a one-night exception.
I found out quite quickly that Heat Body wasn’t so effective on the Float Heads.
And throwing a Bugbear was a lot easier than using joint locks to keep it in place.
《Summon Monster『Peptide』Level Up!》
《Please add 1 point to a desired stat.》
Even though Peptide didn’t get to play a large role in fighting against the Float Heads, he still managed to score a level-up.
And quite quickly, too.
The monsters in the area were definitely on the strong side.
The stat that went up with Peptide’s level-up was VIT.
I put another point into AGI.
Peptide Giant Scorpion Lv3→Lv4(↑1)
DEX 17
AGI 13(↑1)
INT 7
STR 17
VIT 15(↑1)
SPI 7
Skills:
Pincer Strike Sting Conceal Hide Ambush Poison
Thanks.
