He could feel the energy within him become agitated.

(This piece of shit.)

As the energy within him moved, the very next instant a large golden inscription lit up beneath his feet.

(This is!?)

All of his power that was just starting to roil about was quelled and suppressed fully. At the same time, Kazuki felt a few different pairs of eyes all fall on him at once.

(These are experts!)

Kazuki could feel it. Two people were watching him from the far left side of the library. Both were at the 2nd stage, not much of a threat to him but to the far right, nearly 300 feet away, a man sat at a desk reading a book. His eyes casually glanced in Kazuki’s direction for but a moment but Kazuki clearly felt his strength.

(Another 3rd stage Mage. Is this man has strength.)

Kazuki let out a long breath and turned away from the smug guard in front of him.

(My head has gotten too hot. Like big brother said I need to cool it before I run wild like a fool. I need to think.)

Kazuki returned to the first floor and ignored the guard at the top of the second floor and sat down at a nearby desk to think.

(To steal the books I need it out of the question. I can handle the guard up there as well as the two 2nd stage Mages but to take on an unknown 3rd stage…)

Kazuki’s eyes wandered over toward the 3rd stage Mage, who was still casually reading.

(That might be difficult. Not to mention once I’m out of the library doesn’t mean I’m off the hook, this city is full of strong individuals.)

Kazuki’s eyes wandered around the library. He saw many people quietly enjoying their stories or researching maps and other things for their own purposes. He even saw the small boy from earlier enjoying some type of picture book.

*Haaa*

(How do I overcome this? I can’t force my way up there without a fight, plus even if I do I don’t know which books to take and that directory orb thing is incredibly slow-moving. By the time it shows the way to all the books I need, all of the soldiers of the city will be upon me. Think, If I can’t use force to break straight through, is there some way around?)

Just as he was thinking this a woman walked past and bumped into a table near him. In doing so the woman dropped the book in her hands.

“Ah!”

The woman fell to her hands and knees and began to tap the ground repeatedly.

“Oh no oh no, where is it?”

Kazuki could see there was a problem and went over.

(Hmm, this woman, she’s blind.)

Kazuki picked up the book.

“Miss, I’ve picked it up for you. You can get up.”

The woman slowly got up to her feet and gave a slight bow…in the wrong direction.

“Thank you sir.”

Kazuki waved in front of himself.

“Um, over here miss.”

The woman blushed in embarrassment and turned in Kazuki’s direction and bowed again.

“How embarrassing, thank you mister.”

The woman held out her hands for the book and Kazuki handed it to her, though before he let it go he noticed what it was and became curious.

“This book is?”

“Hmm, are you interested? This is a good one. It’s called [Age of the Lost] It’s about a young man who falls to another world and has to reclaim what was stolen from him and become the strongest while rescuing the ice princess. I’m almost done with it but I have no more time today and have to go back home soon, that’s why I was rushing just now, sorry.”

“There’s no reason to be sorry, you did nothing to me.”

The woman shook her head.

“I’ve wasted your time. Those that come to this library are usually important people, surely I’ve wasted an important person’s time with my clumsiness, so once more sorry.”

Kazuki smiled at this woman but didn’t argue with her. However, Nunully and the others would laugh if they heard this young woman call him important.

“Actually, I was more interested in the dots in the book. That’s braille, right?”

The woman hearing this took on a pink hue on her face.

(How embarrassing, to think I confused what he was saying.)

“Yes, this is braille, as you can see, I can’t see. If not for braille, I wouldn’t be able to read these amazing stories. Simply by running my fingers across these raised dots, I can see a brand new world in my mind.”

Hearing this woman’s words, an idea flashed in Kazuki’s mind.

(Braille, could I use it, why couldn’t I. Yes, this should work. If I can’t go through the mountain then why not fly over it or dig a tunnel beneath it.)

Kazuki began chuckling in excitement but his laugh caused the young woman to think he was actually laughing at her and she started to pout.

(This man, how rude. Is he making fun of me because I can’t see.)

The woman’s face scrunched up in displeasure and she began to turn to leave, that’s when Kazuki got another idea and grabbed the woman’s shoulder. The woman had no idea what was going on and was about to scream when Kazuki spoke to her softly.

“Please wait a moment. I want to thank you.”

Again the woman’s face scrunched up.

“Help me, for what? Sir, I don’t know what your intention is but I wasn’t born the night before. Do you really dare try and take advantage of the blind?”

Kazuki shook his head but he felt dumb the next second because the woman obviously couldn’t see that.

“No, you may not believe me but your words just a moment ago have truly helped me, so I simply wish to return the favor. Believe me or not, it doesn’t matter because I’m still going to give you a big gift.”

The woman scoffed.

“Sir please leave me be, I want nothing from you. If you don’t let go right now I’m going to call the gua…”

Kazuki released her before she had finished talking but at the same time his palm gently covered both of her eyes and his ki stretched outward.

With a soft push, her body fell backward. Kazuki kicked a chair forward and it quickly caught her. The woman was left stunned and was about to scream for help before she heard Kazuki speak softly once more.

“You truly have helped me thank you young miss.”

The woman was left completely confused but the very next moment, she felt a warmth in her eyes. She quickly covered her eyes in fear that she was bleeding or injured. Why else would she feel such warmth from her eyes from out of nowhere? It had to be blood or something else right? That’s what she initially thought but she realized she felt no pain whatsoever. As a matter of fact this warmth actually felt gentle, comfortable.

It was like bathing in the sun, that sensation you get from the rays of light falling upon you. The woman felt something strange being forced out from her eyes and if one were to see this, they would see a few drops of black blood spilling from her eyes. The woman couldn’t help but wipe both of her eyes feeling this new oddity and as she did she gradually reopened her eyes.

A bit of fuzzy light entered her eye and the woman became both shocked and confused. She wiped her eyes a bit more and the world around her slowly became focused and clear. The woman blinked several times. thousands upon thousands of books were aligned on large shelves right next to her. On the other side of her, there was a desk and several chairs. A little bit down the way, a small child was quietly reading something and enjoying every bit of it.

The small boy realized he was being watched and turned to the young woman. The woman was staring at him with a confused look but the boy simply smiled at her and shyly waved. The woman in returned smiled before she covered her mouth.

(This is…This is.)

Two streams of tears began to run down her cheeks. If the woman didn’t have a chair right now then she would have directly fallen to the floor from taking all of this in.

(I can see. I can actually see.)

Kazuki’s words reverberated in her mind as she remembered what he said to her.

[“No, you may not believe me but your words just a moment ago have truly helped me, so I simply wish to return the favor. Believe me or not, it doesn’t matter because I’m still going to give you a big gift.”]

(A big gift, this is what he meant. He truly wasn’t lying but how did he do this and I don’t even know who he was.)

The woman then got up from her seat and rushed around the library.

(He must still be close. My benefactor. It hasn’t even been a minute. If I can find him, if I can find him.)

The woman ran past a young man with narrowed features and crimson red hair in the shape of a fohawk. She took one glance at the young man before shaking her head.

(Definitely not him.)

Kazuki smiled as the young woman rushed by him.

(Sometimes its fun to help people as well.)

Kazuki didn’t understand why the woman was blind in the first place. In this world, there were many people that could heal such ailments with ease. The only thing he could figure is that the woman was just dirt poor and couldn’t afford any help.

(Well its a good thing it was only returning her sight. If she was actually missing an eye or something, that would have been…Haaa, I don’t want to think about it.)

Kazuki returned his attention back to the directory and tapped on the screen a few times.

[Braille basics]

Kazuki tapped the title and smiled inwardly

(Let me show them how I go over the mountain.)
