“You saw it!”
Nunully was a mix of emotions but the overarching one she felt was jealousy.
Seeing the serious look she had, Kazuki wanted to chuckle. He found her act cute, like a little pouting doll.
Kazuki crossed his arms as well and played it up.
“Of course I saw, why wouldn’t I when it’s right in front of me like that. Too bad I didn’t get to see more. Next time I’ll have to tell Mei to pull the top as well.”
Nunully puffed her cheeks as though she were going to explode.
“What do you mean!?”
“What do you mean what do I mean, I mean exactly what I said.”
Nunully’s anger and sadness boiled over and she threw another pillow at Kazuki. Kazuki caught it and thought she was playing again. He was about to send it flying right back at her but Nunully was clenching both of her fist’s and already had tears streaming down her face.
(Shit, I fucked up.)
Kazuki dropped the pillow and sat next to Nunully but she turned away from him.
“Nunully, I…What’s wrong?”
Nunully turned around and punched Kazuki in the chest but her average strength compared to his enhanced body, Nunully’s fist and wrist ached right there on the spot.
She grabbed her wrist and rubbed it pitifully while staring daggers at Kazuki.
“Do you really not know? No, knowing how you think, you know exactly what’s wrong, and you’re probably coming up with a million excuses to sway me away from my anger.”
“Wait a minute, I’m serious here, I really don’t know why you’re mad. I mean me seeing Tsura was not my fault and besides it’s not like we’re in a relationship so if that’s why your mad I…”
*Thud*
Nunully punched Kazuki in the chest again. Her glare more vicious now than ever before.
“You idiot! Yeah, we’re not together but you know how I feel, and to play it up like that…Do you just not care about my feelings at all?”
Kazuki’s eyes went blank for a moment.
(This girl. How can she like someone like me? I’ve only shown her my selfishness and greed, yet she likes me. What in the 7 realms of hell goes on in that mind of hers?)
Nunully felt more and more pissed with Kazuki’s silence and threw another punch at him. This time though, Kazuki caught it. He then sent a wave of ki into her now sore wrist and helped soothe it. Nunully felt the warmth but with her feelings out in the open, this warm energy from Kazuki only felt cold.
“Why, why are you healing my wrist. Why even now when I want to be angry with you, you even try to take that away from me? If you don’t care then don’t care but tell me! Otherwise, it’s like I’m hanging over the side of a cliff and you keep showing me a helping hand that never lifts me up. Why won’t you say anything?”
Kazuki didn’t know how such a simple incident as seeing Tsura’s lower half naked turn into something so serious. He couldn’t help but sigh inwardly. Looking at Nunully, he truly did find her attractive. As a matter of fact, she was one of the most beautiful girls he had ever seen but there was more to that then love. Kazuki knew that but in his heart and mind he honestly didn’t understand what love was but he knew it was something more. He didn’t feel love for Nunully but he did care for her.
Kazuki stared at Nunully and the room became quiet. Nunully got scared for a moment. She felt like Kazuki was finally gonna say it. He was finally gonna tell her to screw off. Kazuki opened his mouth and the tears coming down from Nunully’s face only increased in volume in fear of what was to come.
Even Nunully didn’t know why she was so afraid. No that wasn’t true. She knew if he denied her, that she would never recover.
“Nunully, I will be honest with you. When it comes to love between you and me…I don’t love you.”
Nunully heard that and it was like a bomb went off inside of her. Her head fell down lifelessly and her tears poured out like a faucet. She squeezed both of her knees with her nails as hard as she could, just trying to replace one pain with another. Her stomach felt empty, yet twisted with knots and gouged out with shovel all at the same time. Her heartfelt as though someone was tearing it to shreds.
Kazuki continued.
“I don’t love you but I do care about you.”
Another blow was felt. Wasn’t this just a pity price. Something to console her a tiny bit. This only added to the heartbreak. Nunully stood up and turned to run away.
“I understand. I won’t bother you anymore. I’ll find my own way…”
Kazuki grabbed her and pulled her back down beside him before she could say anymore. Nunully didn’t expect this and was visibly confused.
“Wha…What are you doing!?”
“You asked me a question so don’t leave until I’ve finished answering you.”
Nunully panicked and shook her head frantically.
“What more do you need to say. You don’t love me, I understand. Anything more, anything more is just trying to dig at the wound.”
Nunully tried to stand again but Kazuki gripped her tighter, not allowing her to leave.
Nunully couldn’t fight him but she wouldn’t look him in the eye if she could help it. Kazuki understood this. She wouldn’t lift her head but as long as they were in the same room, she would have to listen to him.
“Nunully, it’s true that I don’t love you but you’ve seen my memories. I had the capacity for it when I was younger but then my father disappeared. Then my mother, as well as my sister, betrayed me and my brother. They killed him right in front of me. After I ended up on Earth, I had already lost something, and just when I started t get that missing piece back, my mother and sister sent a monster to Earth and took Granny Master from me. Every time I’ve loved someone, they’ve been violently ripped away from me. I told myself never again. I thought I sealed that part of myself away or rather I thought that thing inside me that lets me love was already gone but I’ve been thinking about something lately.”
Kazuki gently grabbed Nunully’s chin and lifted it up so he could see her eyes. Looking into her dark blue tear-filled eyes, Kazuki smiled.
“I realized that allowing my feelings to be cut off and torn away hasn’t helped me and instead has only isolated me. Doing this, keeping everyone and everything at bay is only giving power to those who I hate. It’s allowing them to continuously weaken me, weaken my mind. To cut off my feelings in totality only corners my thoughts and tears at me. What I’m trying to say is…I don’t know how to love but…”
Nunully’s tears began to fade as she whispered.
“But what?”
Kazuki took a deep breath, he didn’t know why but he was starting to feel nervous.
“But I’m willing to try lo…love.”
Nunully heard this and it resonated within her but ass he thought about it, she began to pout.
“What does that mean to try to love? You have to be clear about it.”
Kazuki was a little stumped. He scratched his cheek feeling shy.
“You know, try means try. Damn, why is this so difficult to put into words.”
Nunully wasn’t letting this go. Such an answer was as good as a fart in a desert, useless.
“No, what does try mean? Does this mean we are going to do things that people who love one another do? Like…like, like.”
Nunully’s face went bright red with lewd thoughts. Kazuki chuckled as he watched the shade of red on her face deepen and turn even her pointed ears a deep red.
“Hahaha. You sure you want to skip straight to that. I mean I don’t mind in fact I’ve been feeling a bit backed up for quite a while. If you want to step through that door I won’t stop you but I was thinking maybe we could start with a date.”
Nunully heard him mentioning being backed up and her thoughts went down a rabbit hole, only to snap back to reality once she realized she was thinking far ahead, while he was thinking about the first step. Nunully’s mind was spinning and she didn’t know how to respond.
“Hmm, Nunully can you even hear me anymore. Guess my joke was a bit much.”
Kazuki felt like he needed a bit of air. Nunully’s overwhelmed expression was nice as well, and Kazuki wasn’t lying about being backed up. Thinking about Tsura and Mei being just a few feet away in the bathroom was a little awkward though so Kazuki wanted to open a window and just take a breath. As soon as he got up though, this time it was Nunully who grabbed his arm and wouldn’t let him go. No, she feared if she let him go at this moment he would change his mind so she gripped him with all of her strength.
“Don…Don’t leave. A date, that’s what you said right?”
Kazuki rubbed his chin playfully and said.
“Hmm, did I say that?”
Nunully’s eyes went wide and she almost screamed.
“You said it! You definitely did so no take-backs.”
“Hmm, I wonder? So what are you trying to say? You said it yourself, be clear, otherwise, I won’t understand.”
Nunully felt like she was about to go insane hearing Kazuki spout all of this. She jumped to her feet and declared loudly.
“A DATE! YOU’RE GOING ON ONE WITH ME GOT IT!?”
Kazuki smiled at her.
“Understood but can you please not hold on to my arm so hard. I feel like you’ll push me down any second and then you’ll…”
Nunully grew embarrassed and waved her hands back and forth wildly while trying to drown out his words.
“Don’t say it don’t say it don’t say it!”
Kazuki began laughing at this sight while Nunully was doing her best to try and prevent him from saying anything.
While this was happening, Tsura and Mei were inside the bathroom at this time listening in. Tsura shook her head.
“Young ones are way too dramatic for their own good.”
A small smile spread across her face as she was reminded of her late husband. After he died though she hadn’t really felt things like she used to, that is until Danny came along. Tsura as well felt a mix of emotions as she thought of Danny.
