*BANG BOOM CRACK-KA-BOOM TZZZT TSZZT*
Over 10 thousand bolts of lightning landed upon Glacious all at once in a deafening explosion.
The entirety of Iselda shook terribly and with its power used up, those on board could feel it beginning to fall out of the sky. Just when they were about to panic, Garn waved his scepter and the heart of Iselda devoured thousands of magical beast cores within it all at once. Draining them of their energy, the cores filled with cracks until they fell to dust. Iselda ceased its downward descent and maintained it’s flight, much to the relief of everyone on board.
Garn heaved and breathed heavily. He had used his ultimate weapon due to a sense of dread. He couldn’t control himself and he felt if he didn’t make the first move, Glacious would have destroyed him then and there.
“I guess the legends of Glacious’s might were just tall tales or maybe my weapon is just that powerful, heh.”
Garn turned around to leave when a few cold words entered his ear.
“So this is your ultimate weapon. I thought it would be stronger than this but it seems there are many flaws within it.”
Garn froze on the spot and his face turned pale white. Smoke filled the air and so no one could be seen but there was absolutely no way Garn would not know who just spoke.
“I suppose you thought you could kill me with such a weak device, how repulsive.”
As Glacious continued to speak, more and more began to rush around and a swirl of energy pushed all of the smoke away revealing Glacious.
Garn, as well as everyone looking out at this scene, felt their blood run cold. Glacious who had just received the full force of Iselda stood perfectly calm and completely unharmed with a somewhat disinterested expression.
Garn lifted a trembling finger and pointed at Glacious with suspicion and fear.
“You…You are no longer at the 6th stage?”
“Hmm, Garn, you can’t be that naive, can you? I was at the 6th stage 20 years ago, what kind of fool would I be if I couldn’t increase my strength even a little bit within all this time?”
Garn felt a sting of bitterness hearing that. He had been stuck at the 5th stage for well over 30 years and he had given up long ago on increasing his personal strength. Even if he had 100 more years of life, he still wasn’t sure about whether or not he could reach the 6th stage and yet Glacious had reached the 7th stage within 20 years. Glacious had reached a place that only legends have achieved and he acted as though it were no big deal, something to be done casually.
Garn felt pressure from all around him and he knew things would take a turn for the worse if things didn’t change quickly. Garn knelt on the ground and spoke calmly yet quickly. Trying to convince Glacious before Glacious just up and killed him.
“Glacious! great dragon slayer of the Feya continent! I have sinned against you, forgive me. I just became overwhelmed and curious when in the presence of such a legend and wanted to know if it were true that you were indeed invincible. I would never attack you with the intent to kill.”
Glacious remained silent which in turn made Garn sweat like mad. Garn switched it up and tried to appease to Glacious’s sense of morality.
“Glacious, I…I am the king of Treia now. Please do not kill me, I have a responsibility to protect my people. You may not be aware of this but a great danger is on the horizon. A dark Miasma and monsters called Azirians threaten to devour the Feya continent. Only ones such as me or you could possibly deal with them and save the world. If you kill me not just Treia but all of Feya will fall.”
Glacious stood there in the air. He tilted his head a bit curious but besides that, there was still no movement from him. He just stared at Garn, watching the fear within him grow.
“Senior please, It is my duty to protect the people. If you kill me you will be dooming millions. Please, senior dragon slayer, allow me to compensate you and return to my land. I promise to never bother you nor step foot in your territory ever again.”
Glacious rubbed his chin and Garn felt a sense of relief because this meant Glacious was at least thinking about letting him go.
Glacious pointed at Iselda and Garn quickly cut him off before he even spoke.
“Please, anything but Iselda. I need this weapon to defeat the dark Miasma and the Azirians. If you rake it away, my people will be defenseless.”
Glacious’s brows scrunched.
“I said before I was only interested in this floating island, I never once said I wanted it, especially now that I’ve personally experienced it. I can see the design flaws within, this contraption is nothing more than a faulty toy.”
Once more Garn’s pride had taken a hit hearing his masterpiece had flaws but for now, he could only grit his teeth and bear it. At the same time though he felt a wave of relief that Glacious was only interested in his weapon and nothing more.
Garn cupped his fists once more.
“Forgive that outburst. I was too impatient and jumped to the wrong conclusion. You said you were interested in my creation, what can I do to curve your curiosity?”
Glacious found it funny how Garn tried to smile and act submissive but he could feel the anger leaking out of him like a stench of dead fish. No matter how he tried to look meek and tiny, Glacious knew Garn was cold. In the past, Garn seemed dutiful and had a sense of honor of some kind but Glacious could see some change had taken place and Garn had now become detached and callous.
“Your floating island, in order for such a large structure to maintain flight, teleport to my territory, I’m assuming from the capital Tresta, as well as release that amount of magic, the energy required must be grand. I know of no mana crystals with such purity in this lowly realm. So how then what is powering this device of yours?”
(That’s all he wished to know?)
Garn waved his scepter and a floating crystal orb flew out and emitted a few images. It showed the heart of the island and within it was a vault that stored millions upon millions of Magical beast cores. These cores, big and small, all came from the millions of Magical beasts that Garn had hunted for the past several months. The efficiency of Iselda was amazing. Although it required a fantastical amount of energy to deploy it, the number of Magical beast cores Garn recovered using Iselda was nearly 4 times its consumption. This was another reason why Garn was so proud of what he built.
With Iselda alone though he couldn’t have gathered so many Magical beast cores. Garn had been ramping things up as of late and had sent word to all kingdoms and all adventurer guilds. A fat reward for any mercenary or adventurer to acquire Magical beast cores. In this way, he set in motion things he could not have anticipated but he didn’t care about Jin and the invasion of the magical beast that fled his territory and invaded theirs. No, as long as he continued to receive Magical beats cores to power Iselda, that was basically all he cared for. Well, that and capturing Kazuki.
Glacious took one look at the heart of Iselda and his expression changed.
He pointed at the vault within the heart of Iselda and commanded.
“I was wrong, there are materials in this lowly realm I wish to have. Your Beast cores, give them to me!”
Garn froze.
“What!?”
“Has age gotten the better of you already and you can no longer hear what people say? Those cores, give them to me, all of them.”
“Senior, that, I can’t. If I give you all of them, Iselda will fall out of the sky.”
“Hmm, you’re worried about it falling out of the sky?”
Garn nodded.
Glacious then smirked before opening up his arms as though he were going to hug the world. Then with a speed, no one here could see, he swung his arms and clapped his hands.
*KA-BOOM!*
It was as though thunder exploded out when his hands clapped together. However, the noise was not the true threat. Following his clap, a powerful rush of air slammed into Garn. Garn threw up his barrier but it was crushed and Garn was sent flying away. At the same time, The wind continued forward and slammed into Iselda. The entire floating island shook uncontrollably and was forced to fall. Everyone on board panicked and screamed, as they desperately tried to fly or teleport away but Glacious’s power encompassed the whole island and suppressed it, not allowing it to recover or teleport.
Garn rushed over and waved his scepter and forced Iselda to drain away a hundred thousand cores all at once but Glacious’s power would not allow Iselda to remain in the sky.
The island’s speed towards the ground only increased and was about to crash into the ground before Glacious put out a hand and grabbed at the empty air in front of him. Iselda suddenly was suspended in the air and froze. Lifting his hand up, Iselda flew up even faster than it fell, causing everyone within to crash into the floor from the g force. Once again Iselda was just under his feet. Garn flew over not knowing what to say or do but Glacious didn’t care.
“Maybe I was a bit greedy. I’ll tell you what old Garn. Give me 95% of those cores. You do that and I’ll allow you and your floating toy to fuck off. Do not continue to test my good grace or it will be your doom.”
