Kimi sat down lifelessly after hearing all of this.

“Were stuck here…forever.)

The room filled with silence.

Etora and Lamia both gave Glacious a knowing look and Glacious was quick to add.

“Well, it’s not too bad right. You may not be able to ever return home but if you have no other plans, why not stay here? I mean, this place is basically a paradise. Garn can never reach you here and you can live peacefully. Great food, the cleanest water, even the magic here is slightly more condensed and pure. This place is the ideal training environment because of those conditions. Why not stay and train and grow and get your mind off of such things?”

Tears began to gather at the corner of Kimi’s eyes and she started to cry painfully. Sam held her while she cried.

She wasn’t alone in this. Asuna became angry and shouted at Glacious.

“How can this be! There has to be something you can do. You’re supposed to be the strongest on the Feya continent. Is there nothing that can be done?”

Glacious shook his head.

“As I said, only a god can do something like moving you from here to there. I…I could maybe teleport you to another continent in this world but that would be the utmost limit. I haven’t the power beyond that.”

“No way.”

Shin snorted.

“Hmpf, so what. Who cares about going back to that shit hole. Here we have power, here we can actually do such incredible things and you two actually want to return. I can freaking fly in this world. Why would anyone ever want to give this all up?”

Asuna crushed the cup in her hand and threw it at the nearby wall before shouting.

“You idiot! My mom, my dad, little sister. I have to go back. They…I can’t stay in this world for the rest of my life. I have people who I need to return to. You wouldn’t understand. You have no one to go back to.”

As soon as she said those words she knew she went too far and tried to apologize.

“Shin, I didn’t mean…”

Shin quickly interrupted her and yelled.

“Shut up! You have to mention what I don’t have. I know my family’s dead, you don’t have to remind me. I get it, you have something to go back for but the way you say things sometimes…Fuck you Asuna!”

Shin got up and cupped his fist and bowed slightly to Glacious.

“I’ll gladly take you up on your offer and will stick around for a bit. Thank you.”

Shin then stormed out, slamming the large heavy doors behind him.

*Bang*

Asuna was just upset and didn’t mean to say what she did but the die had already been cast and Shin was gone. Asuna collapsed into her chair as realization sunk in.

(Mama, papa, sister.)

Nunully was no longer in a cheery mood and felt for Asuna. She grabbed her hand and squeezed it.

“Let’s go talk somewhere.”

Tears started to stream from Asuna as she found comfort. Nunully asked Kimi if she wanted to come and Kimi followed along with them. Sam tried to come along as well but Nunully stopped him.

“This is girl talk. You stay here or rather go find Shin, he might need some cheering up.”

Sam looked at Kimi and Kimi nodded.

The girls went one way and Sam went to go find Shin. Tilly as well put her drink down and got up.

“Well, that was a depressing breakfast. Oy Dragon, I’m going to go study your Golems again today. See ya when dinners ready.”

Glacious just kind of rolled his eyes but he didn’t take the old bat’s words to heart as she was harmless.

Tsura got up and tried to drag Mei away but after the atmosphere returned to normal, both her and Etora shoved their heads back into their plates and began eating like monsters. Tsura finally gave up and Lamia asked her if she wanted to come and relax with her on a simple walk around the valley. Lamia was excited to finally have another woman to converse with and Tsura having nothing to do decided there was no reason to refuse.

“Mei, you behave while I’m gone or no sweets, do you understand?”

Mei tore her face away from her food for only a second and nodded repeatedly before diving right back into her food. Kazuki was amazed by how much she could eat. He understood Etora’s appetite was due to his strange body but he couldn’t grasp how Mei could put so much away.

“Mei, are you still not full?”

Mei swallowed an entire leg of some kind of meat, almost scaring Kazuki half to death. She shook her head.

“How can I be full when the food is so delicious. No even if I was full I would still eat more and more. This stuff is way too good.”

Kazuki had to admit the food here was the best he’d ever had. Traveling around for months on end, most of the time, unless they found some, the food was seasonless and bland. Entering small towns or cities, the food was better and some places make really good dishes but none compared to the food here. Still, this didn’t answer Kazuki’s question.

“Mei, what I mean is how can your tiny stomach hold all of that. Shouldn’t you have popped by now?”

Mei downed a plate of eggs and licked her lips before thinking out loud.

“I don’t know either, I just know I need it.”

Etora picked up an entire pitcher of water and began to chug it down. Not even a second later, the entire container was drained.

*Urpp*

Wiping his face he chuckled.

“Hehehe, Kazuki, don’t you know she’s a big bird, of course, she needs to eat a lot.”

Kazuki was a little confused.

“What does her Mangshi form have to do with her hunger? Isn’t that form maintained by magic?”

Etora nodded.

“Yes, she only needs magic to maintain that form but that form uses energy. The energy required can come from another source, aka food. She doesn’t have to eat food to keep that bird-like state, after all, that’s her natural shape. Instead, food helps her keep her human shape. Have you really not noticed?”

“Noticed what?”

“Magic energy gathers around little Mei here dozens of times faster than anyone else in your little group. Her body is absorbing magical energy to keep this shape. Don’t tell me you thought she could stay like this for free. Energy, she needs energy. Since she is a Mangshi queen, she requires more energy than most, so her body absorbs a greater amount than others. She can replace that energy using food but the requirement is a shit ton of food, hehehe. Are you telling me you really haven’t noticed this kid’s appetite?”

Kazuki was taken aback. He knew Mei ate more than the average kid, scratch that, more than the average adult by a few times but he just didn’t connect the dots.

“Wait, you know she’s a Mangshi queen?”

“Of course, how would a beast king not recognize another beast king?”

Kazuki paused at the unfamiliar term.

“Beast king.”

“Do you really not know anything little bro? Look here, a long time ago in the ancient lands of Sepacia, and I’m just making things up, hahaha.”

“What!?”

Etora started eating some more when Glacious cleared his throat.

*Ahem*

“Little brother, you tease far too much, cut it out.”

Etora put his food back down and chuckled once more.

“Sorry big bro I just couldn’t help it. Something about Kazuki just makes me want to mess with him sometimes. Anyway, little bro, there’s no such thing as beast kings. Ancient Beast kings yes but beasts kings no. As for how I knew Mei was a Mangshi queen, well like I’ve said many a time, I’ve traveled all over this entire continent. It’s only natural that I’ve encountered many many creatures. Mangshi, I’ve run into them.”

Mei looked up at Etora curiously and asked.

“You met other Mangshi like me?”

Etora nodded.

“Met them, yes but those Mangshi were very very different from you.”

“Really, different how?”

Etora thought for a moment, recalling the past.

“Hmm, well for starters, they were really really dumb, nothing like the little smarty you are.”

“Dumb.”

“Yep, for some reason, although most of them were pretty strong, none of them could communicate. Not only that, none of them could transform into a human, like you or your mother can. That and they were really violent. As soon as they saw me, they dove down with mouths agape and they actually tried to eat me.”

Mei became more and more interested in Etora’s tale and leaned in.

“They wanted to eat you but your all bones. There’s not enough meat on you. Why would they want to eat you?”

Etora scrunched his face hearing those comments and jumped on top of the table, his shirt already torn away as he began to flex his arms.

“What are you talking about, look at all of these strapping and huge muscles.”

Mei put her food down and slowly climbed up on the table. She then pulled her sleeve up slightly and flexed her little arm. She then compared it with Etora’s arm. First, she jumped up and grabbed Etora’s muscle, and then she grabbed her own after. Shaking her head she said in confusion.

“Aren’t we the same mister wolf?”

Etora’s face dropped and he became quiet. Glacious who was sitting at the head of the table burst out into laughter and began slapping the table until it crumbled.

“Bwahahahahaha. She’s right, she’s so right. Etora you are so thin and you always spout bull about your muscles but even Mei has arms as big as yours. No, maybe hers are slightly bigger. Bwahahahaha!”

Etora pointed at Glacious and cursed him.

“You! Damn you, big bro. It’s not my fault I’m not blessed with your frame type. If I was my muscles would be just as big as your or even bigger, you ass!”

This only made Glacious laugh harder.

“Hahaha, our frames are the same, you simply have no muscle. Only at this time do I not envy your nearly invincible body. For it to even eat your muscles to maintain its toughness, your luck is poor little brother, hahaha.”

Etora ran out of the room almost crying.

“Big bro you dummy!”
