*Bang!*
Kazuki dropped the dark green rock to the ground and heaved out heavy breaths.
“Hmm, this is going a bit slower then I anticipated. You collapsed after 12 round trips up and down the field when you should have dropped after 8. It’s good that you’re exhausted now but from this moment on Kazuki, do not use your ki while training.”
*Huff puff*
Kazuki tried to speak but found his mouth was as dry as a desert. His arms were numb and everything was aching. He had only moved a rock back and forth 12 times and it took an hour but this hour was one of the hardest he’d ever endured physically.
Sweat that used to pour had now dried up entirely and Kazuki could barely stand.
“Hmm, you must be thirsty, hold back for just a moment.”
Kazuki couldn’t even nod in response. Glacious grabbed Kazuki by the back of his shirt and lifted him upward.
“Let’s see, the water should be 4 miles that way.”
Glacious then aimed in a certain direction and before Kazuki could voice a complaint, Glacious just threw Kazuki into the distance. Kazuki saw the landscape around him blur by as his body moved at a dangerous speed. Not only that, he felt the g force pull on him as he accelerated more and more.
Just when he thought he might pass out from the blood rushing to the opposite side of his body from the flying…
*SMACK!*
Kazuki hit an unknown body of water like a rag doll. The impact caused him to inhale as he tried to take in a breath of air but because he was submerged he only swallowed mouth fulls of water. The cold water, the stinging in every limb from the impact and the swallowing, caused panic to rush into him and he desperately clawed his way up to the surface.
*Hack cough cough Hack HUff Puff*
Flailing uncontrollably, Kazuki managed to make it to shore where he fell face first in the dirt from exhaustion. He couldn’t even turn his head off to the side and vomited in his own face.
“Nasty, at least clean yourself up.”
Glacious had already arrived who knows when and committed on Kazuki’s appearance. He couldn’t stand the gross sight before him and tossed Kazuki back in the water.
Kazuki no longer had the strength nor energy to swim and he felt a cold numbing sensation as his vision quickly went black.
—————————————————————————-
“WAKE UP!”
Kazuki’s eyes snapped open and he jumped from the shout.
“What! Where!”
Looking around, Kazuki’s vision was filled with darkness and an echo rang in his ear. A terrible smell infiltrated his nose and he could feel a slimly wet sensation all around him.
(This, isn’t death…?)
If it were death, there would be no reason to be able to still feel nor smell.
Suddenly the sound of metal scraping metal came from above and Kazuki’s vision was drawn upwards. Sunlight peered in and Kazuki realized he was inside of some type of large metal container. Glacious took a peek in.
“Can’t have you falling asleep again. You almost drowned in my river earlier. It would be kind of hard to explain to little sis that I accidentally killed you. Plus I need you and your brother’s techniques before you pass so I can’t have you dying before that.”
Kazuki dropped the politeness and felt his anger unsheath as he roared.
“WHERE THE FUCK AM I!? WHAT IS THIS!?”
Glacious paid it no mind and replied calmly.
“This is a special cauldron of mine, It’s right next to the river you almost died in. I wish you would have told me sooner you don’t know how to swim. What kind of man can’t even doggy paddle? Are you not embarrassed?”
Kazuki’s made a blue flame and threw it up at Glacious as fast as an arrow but Glacious in response simply caught it in his hand and crushed it into nothingness.
“Hmm, what’s the matter, why are you attacking me? Ah, right, maybe I shouldn’t have insulted you just now. I get it, some people are just not meant for the waters but don’t worry I won’t fail you. Even if you have no talent for swimming I’ll do my best and teach you. How’s that sound?”
Three more blue flames appeared one by one and Kazuki tossed them at weird angles to try and smite Glacious.
“You asshole, you think I’m mad about that. I can swim just fine! It’s the fact you threw an exhausted person into a river. What person can come out of that alive!?”
Again Glacious simply grabbed the flames and crushed him but now he realized he may have done something wrong. Rubbing his chin he thought out loud.
“Hmm, that’s how I was trained though. I knew humans were weaker than us dragons but to think they were only at that level. It seems I’ll have to adjust the regiment I had planned to one more suitable to you.”
“Is that all you have to say to me!?”
“What more do you want me to say?”
“How about an apology you sick lizard.”
“Apologize, what for, you mean for almost killing you. Did you think it would be easy to become the strongest human being in the world? Did you think you would not encounter death at some point? I’ll tell you this right now, brushing against death every once and a while, it will happen and there’s nothing to be done about it. That is the road the strong walk. I won’t apologize for showing you a glimpse of what happens to those who stop moving forward. Those that do will be swept under the current and die. Those that push forward, struggle with all their might, and then some, maybe they will have what it takes to come up for air.”
Kazuki grumbled under his breath but he had no comeback for such words. Kazuki was only now realizing that Glacious was not the suttle type. At the same time, he knew Glacious was not wrong and that pissed him off a bit. Being treated like a rag doll and having your life mean only so much, definitely stung.
Kazuki knew there was nothing to be done about it though. The only thing to do was like Glacious said, push forward, struggle with everything he has, and then some. So although he was still angry, Kazuki swallowed the bitterness in his chest ad thought about why he was doing all of this.
“Senior, what comes next?”
“Oh, now that is a much kinder way of speaking. Though the first one doesn’t bother me all that much but hearing a respectful tone isn’t bad either.”
Glacious pointed at the contents of the cauldron.
“You see all of that green gunk around you? That stuff is quite disgusting but at the same time, it can heal all of your ailments, which includes repairing damaged muscle as well as other things. For you, all you need to do is fill it with magic and it will respond in kind.”
Kazuki sniffed the contents around him and the stank gave him a familiar sensation.
“Fill it with magic. Can I ask why this needs magic? From the smell of it, it resembles the healing potions back in Treia.”
“Oh, they have those in Treia. It seems they’ve come a long way. I suppose that means there’s no more illness or disease there now. As to why it requires magic well how else would the ingredients work?”
Kazuki got hung up on Glacious’s first comment and shook his head.
“No, healing potions and mana potions, they are considered extremely rare and each one, only a small vial worth is already considered to be worth a small fortune and even then it’s no guarantee you can purchase one.”
Glacious didn’t understand this and squinted.
“That’s odd, healing potions, the ingredients are not rare in the least and are more than abundant. Did the ingredients all die off or something?”
“Ingredients?”
Glacious then listed all of the ingredients of a healing potion one by one but Kazuki could hardly believe his ears. Everything Glacious said was common and could be found nearly everywhere.
“Senior! are you sure those are the correct ingredients? I mean everything you just named off is so common that even some old grannies that garden for a hobby would have them.”
“Of course they’re correct. You’re supposed to have a good nose right. If you concentrate I’m sure you can even identify some of those plants I just listed off.”
Kazuki cupped some of the gooey slimy liquid in a hand and inhaled deeply. The putrid stench was overwhelming and it made one want to vomit but there really were two or three things he could pick out from the smell.
Kazuki yelled up in astonishment.
“It’s true!”
Glacious nodded.
“Of course it’s true. Like I said the other day, one thing I am not is a liar. Still for healing potions not to be made on masse. I wonder if it’s a problem with the alchemist of Treia. For them to have healing potions means someone knows how to make it but then just what in the 7 realms of hell are they doing.”
Kazuki caught that word repeatedly and became curious. He had read a similar term when he was younger but there was very little about such topics. He definitely remembered the term though.
“Senior, an alchemist is?”
