“KAZUKI!! DO YOU REALLY WANT ME TO DROP THESE MOUNTAINS ON TOP OF YOU! SHOW YOURSELF OR I’LL BURY YOU AND ALL OF YOUR FRIENDS HERE AND NOW!”
Garn shouted at the top of his lungs, parting the sky with each bellow. Every time he spoke, the raging storm would break momentarily and the world would grow eerily quiet for a few seconds after until the winds picked back up and the storm reformed, raging in the mountains.
Garn waited for only a few minutes before he grew impatient.
“FINE! YOU WANT THEM ALL TO DIE, SO BE IT!”
With no response, Garn waved behind him. A soldier nodded and barked at the others around him.
“Prepare the weapon!”
Several Mages and soldiers scrambled about, preparing Garn’s ultimate weapon.
High above the clouds, the floating island Iselda aimed its lightning rods down toward the entire mountain range.
Garn stood atop the deck of this flying weapon and peered down through the clouds and the raging storm on the mountains, scanning them with his eyes in search of one person and one person only.
At this time there were still no signs of Kazuki making an appearance.
“Your majesty, the weapon, Iselda, it’s ready.”
The soldier gave a quick report before Garn nodded and the soldier ran, fleeing back inside. His inscription tattoo glowed the entire time but even with its power, he could only withstand the cold for a few moments before he was forced to get out of it. His teeth chattering the entire time, he wondered.
(How can anyone actually be alive down there. Nothing can live within these mountains for long, yet king Garn thinks Kazuki is down there.)
Garn raised his scepter up slightly and he could feel his control over Iselda. Deep within the heart of Iselda, thousands of Magical beast cores were drained of energy all at once before cracking and turning into nothing more than dust. Thousands upon thousands of ancient inscriptions began to glow all over the floating island and sparks of lightning began to crack all around.
“KAZUKI I GAVE YOU A CHANCE TO SAVE YOUR FRIENDS BUT IT SEEMS YOU TRULY ARE A COWARD WHO ONLY KNOWS HOW TO RUN AND HIDE! THE DEATH OF ALL OF YOUR FRIENDS…IT WILL BE ON YOUR BACK! GOODBYE KAZUKI!”
Garn felt the power of the island all around him and just as he was about to fire it…
“GARNNN!!! I’M HERE!!!”
As soon as Garn heard that voice, he recognized it immediately and a faint devilish grin flitted across his face.
“So he’s finally decided to reveal himself.”
Garn lowered his scepter and looked down below and sure enough there he was. With a slight movement, Garn could kill Kazuki here and now. A tiny flick of the wrist and Kazuki would be no more than ash, but for Garn that would not satisfy.
Garn took a step off the edge of Iselda and flew down calmly and casually. As he descended, he waved at the turbulent and rough winds and they settled all around him for about a hundred feet in diameter. His speed wasn’t rushed yet it wasn’t to slow either. He wouldn’t Kazuki to see him coming. He wanted to know if Kazuki would be so terrified that he’d change his mind and run or maybe even collapse due to shock and piss himself.
The storm around Kazuki calmed due to Garn and he spotted this terrifying King. Kazuki swallowed hard and had to grip his fist tighter and tighter until his nails cut into his hand and he bled, all just so he could try and calm his unsteady heart.
(He’s here.)
Garn lightly touched down and stood a mere 10 feet away from Kazuki. Standing in front of one another, the two sized the other up. Garn was disappointed that Kazuki appeared so calm but only if he knew Kazuki’s inner thoughts would he think differently.
Kazuki stared at the old man. Kazuki was taller than him and looked down on him but there was no intimidation he could push. Garn may be old and small but he was in no way a weak man. His power could dominate the land and they both knew it. When Kazuki had first met Garn, he was cold and angered easily but he was also caring towards them. After King David betrayed Garn though, everything was overturned. Garn had snapped and killed David, becoming king.
What started Garn on his path to torture and kill Kazuki was the death of his most loyal subordinate information officer Itsu. Kazuki killed the man in order to escape as well as save Nunully from execution but these were the dominoes that led everything up until now.
The two stood silently for almost a solid minute just staring at one another. Garn held a confident smile the entire time. Finally, Garn broke the silence.
“So you came out of your little hidey-hole. You really do care for them?”
“They’ve done nothing wrong. Your grudge is between you and me, no one else need be involved.”
Garn waved his scepter in anger and a force of wind slammed into Kazuki’s stomach like a half-ton punch, knocking the air out of his lungs.
“IS THIS HOW YOU ADRESS YOUR KING!”
Kazuki fell to his knees in one move but he didn’t emit a single noise of complaint nor did he groan in pain.
“King Garn, I understand your power, I know your strength and I accept my own faults and responsibility for what I’ve done. Please…Please don’t harm them.”
Kazuki didn’t want to die, not here, and not now but something changed within him recently. He still wanted revenge, with every fiber of his being but at the same time, his revenge nearly got the people around him killed time and time again. Eventually, it all caught up to him and Danny did die. He didn’t wish for any of them to come to harm, even Kimi’s annoying ass.
Garn saw Kazuki’s calm demeanor and felt enraged. He sent another force of wind and it landed upon Kazuki’s face like a hammer.
*Thwack*
Kazuki’s head whipped back and he was tossed several feet from this strike. He slowly raised his face up and blood gushed from his now broken nose.
Kazuki still issued no cries of pain and only asked.
“Please don’t hurt them.”
Garn was already boiling from rage but seeing Kazuki not even attempt to beg for his life or cry out and scream in agony only infuriated him more.
Garn waved his hand and a torrent of wind picked Kazuki up and held him suspended in mid-air.
“Scream for me.”
Garn twirled his finger in a circle and his power changed slightly. A force of gravity took hold of Kazuki’s right arm and began to twist until a clear pop rang out.
*Snap*
His arm was broken just like that but Kazuki still didn’t cry out.
“Please let them go free.”
“YOU!”
Garn saw only red at this moment and his fingers danced in the air as though he were playing an instrument. However, there were no pleasant melodies on the wind. Instead, a continuous sound of popping and cracking rang out as he forcefully twisted and broke every single one of Kazuki’s limbs. His arms were completely bent at odd angles and his legs were shattered in several places. Still, there was no cry.
“Let them go.”
Garn felt madness take over him and he opened his storage ring. Several small vials fell out. With a snap of his fingers, the corks popped off all at once and a dark green liquid swished about inside of them. Kazuki already knew what they were before he saw them because the foul smell wafted under his nose and he knew. These were all healing potions. The vials floated in front of Kazuki and Kazuki’s head was forced back and his mouth open. Four bottles were overturned and the dark green liquid was forced down.
A hot burning feeling scratched at his throat before he felt warm energy spread throughout him. Kazuki felt his arms twisting back into place and his shattered bones fusing back together in seconds. Healing potions were already rare and super expensive and even took several minutes to work but these took mere seconds to heal him. These healing potions would be rare even among healing potions. Treasures for smaller kingdoms, only to be used on an ailing king or queen yet Garn dumped them down Kazuki’s throat, just so he could continue to torture him.
(How vile.)
This was Kazuki’s split moment thought. Right after, he could no longer think properly as Garn immediately began twisting his limbs and breaking him once more. Twisting of limbs, crunching of bones, and tearing of muscle and flesh. Garn did this again and again until Kazuki resembled a marionette with its strings cut.
Kazuki spoke again, repeating himself like a broken record.
“Please, let them go.”
Garn grabbed Kazuki by the throat and forced him to drink the healing potions again. As it was halfway down his throat, Garn squeezed hard, causing Kazuki to choke partway through. Kazuki still issued no cries, however.
Garn was losing it and tossed Kazuki aside.
*Hack cough cough*
Kazuki coughed up a bit of blood but a moment later his body had healed and he asked once more.
“Please let them go.”
