Kazuki laid motionless on the platform. He had fallen unconscious before actually falling down the monster’s throat and back onto the platform. Was this a miracle or plain cruelty. With no strength, no energy, Kazuki couldn’t even lift a finger. His breath was labored and his lips cracked and dry. His stomach twisted in knots from hunger and his body racked with pain yet currently Kazuki was completely unaware.

His thoughts had faded and his mind slipped into the world of dreams.

Even in his soul world, Kai and Danny could not awaken him.

Standing over him, the two repeatedly tried to rouse him awake but to no avail.

“Damn, brothers lost too much energy. His all is completely exhausted to the point that his mind won’t awaken in his own soul world.”

“Kai what now? With Kazuki starving, there’s no way he can climb out of this beast’s gut. We have to do something.”

Kai gnashed his teeth.

“I know!”

“Then what are we gonna do?”

“I…I don’t think…I don’t know what can be done. Brother used up everything. We can’t even tap into his senses anymore to see the current situation. He’s on the verge of dying and I…I can’t do a damn thing. Again, I failed my little brother.”

“We can’t just give up! There has to be something we can try, there has to be!”

Kai closed his eyes and couldn’t help but lower his head in sad defeat. Danny couldn’t accept that and snatched Kai up by his collar. Since Kai’s body had shrunk to that of a child, the task was easy.

“WE CAN’T GIVE UP YET! DON’T JUST STAND THERE! HELP ME THINK OF SOMETHING DAMMIT!”

Kai’s eyes snapped open in fury and he slapped Danny hard across the face sending him flying into the soul tree.

“Wake up! It’s already far too late! If I could do something, don’t you think it would already have been done! I’m powerless and so are you. Brother…Kazuki will soon…Why do I have to lose him again.”

Danny slowly stood up. He wasn’t angry at the slap, he understood Kai’s anger and fear. To lose someone right in front of your eyes and you could do nothing to change it. Danny understood perfectly well, this type of devastation but still, he couldn’t accept it.

“I understand how you feel, I do, but I can’t just do nothing. There has to be a way.”

It was Kai this time who grabbed Danny’s collar, though the stature between the two was like night and day so it looked a bit silly. Similar to a child grabbing an adult by the collar. Still, no one was laughing. The two stared at one another. Kai was on the verge of exploding but just before he unleashed his rebuke on Danny, the clouds in the sky began to slowly move and shape themselves.

The sky in the soul word began to change and the two noticed it right away. Looking up at the clouds, a memory began to play and the two were both left confused.

Kai released Danny and wore a puzzled expression.

“Whose memory is this?”

As the memory started playing, neither one understood who it belonged to nor how it appeared in here but as the memory went on, it all became clear. Danny suddenly understood.

“This, this memory was here. How could we forget about this? If it’s this, Kazuki might make it. This might become troublesome though. Kazuki’s gonna need our help.”

—————————————————————————-

Kazuki slowly opened his eyes. The light was painful and everything was oddly blurred. Kazuki felt his entire body was incredibly heavy and he couldn’t move the way he wanted to. Right at this time, a soft voice spoke.

“Is, is it alright?”

Right after that voice, another much deeper one followed.

“Dammit, all. This thing is not mine! Woman I took you in and brought you up and fed your stupid mouth every single day and you’ve been whoring behind my back!”

“No that’s a lie. I’ve been loyal to you and you only. No other man has opened my legs I swear it!”

*SMACK*

“Hmph, you actually still dare lie right to my face. Oy, someone take this whore and her little bastard out from here. These two are not welcome in my home. Not now nor ever and anyone who associates with this bitch will catch a flogging from me personally.”

“No please I swear I swear on everything I didn’t sleep with another. If the baby disappoints you, I’ll be rid of it, we can start again. Please just don’t toss me aside!”

Kazuki was left beyond confused. What was happening. Who did these voices belong to?

(Wasn’t I inside the monster? Did I die and reincarnate or something?)

The more Kazuki listened to the world around him, the more he began to believe that to be the case. After a while, his mind became clouded again and his thoughts faded once more. The next time he opened his eyes, his vision was clear. A young woman with brown hair and eyes carried him through the mountains. When the two made eye contact, the woman cursed at the baby within her arms.

“You little shit! Because you don’t look like the chief I’m accused of cheating and get kicked out. Don’t you worry, as soon as we’re far out of sight from the village, I’ll dispose of you properly and return. He’ll definitely take me back in if you’re gone.”

(This bitch is really going to kill me.)

Suddenly things became much clearer. This woman was supposed to be his mother but she was going to take him deep into the mountains to kill him. All of this was over a man who was supposedly his father.

(What the fuck kind of restart is this? I just died in the stomach of a beast and now as soon as I’m reincarnated, I’ll be murdered by my own mother. Is this a joke from the heavens or a prank from the devils!?)

Staring at the baby’s face, the woman contemplated whether to just kill him here and now and be done with the deed. Her hand slowly slipped over the infant’s throat and she began to squeeze.

Kazuki felt the air in his lungs disappear and he cursed the woman in his mind. As the color drained from the baby’s face, out in the distance.

*Shhhshsh*

The sound of the leaves rustling in the trees scared the woman and she released the baby and shouted.

“Who is! Who’s there!?”

The leaves settled as the wind died down and the woman looked around in paranoia.

“I can’t do it here, not yet. Nosy bitches may be watching me.”

The eyes of the woman holding him were clouded in madness. The woman mumbled continuously under her breath.

“Soon…Soon I’ll be rid of this thing. Yes, it’s not mine it’s all a lie. Once I dump him off a cliff, I’ll get everything back. Yes yes, it’s your fault, not mine.”

The woman then increased her pace and headed deeper into the mountains, clear of peeping eyes.

As the sun shifted several times in the sky, many hours had gone by and the woman finally reached her destination. She saw the edge of the cliff not more than 50 feet away.

Hiking up the path, she stood at the edge of the cliff. Holding the baby over the cliff, she stared hatefully at her child.

“You little bastard, I wish you’d never had been born. Now die already.”

The woman then took the baby and prepared to throw it over the edge when once more the sound of rustling echoed out.

*Shhhshsh*

The woman panicked and stumbled a few feet backward. Stepping wrongly on a stone, her ankle broke and she fell, dropping the baby on the ground beside her.

*Waaaa Waaaaa*

Kazuki felt the pain all over and cried uncontrollably. Blood leaked from his head and he felt something was wrong with his brain. The woman had no care in the world for her crying child and concentrated solely on her own pain as well as scanning the nearby trees and the bushes. Seeing nothing, she didn’t dare wait longer. She reached for her bleeding child when something roared behind her.

*Rarrrrrrr*

Turning to look, she saw several boar-like monsters standing behind her.

The woman freaked out and screamed.

“MAGICAL BEAST’S!”

She then crawled backward in a panic. Not noticing how close she was to the edge, in her frightened state, she backed away too far and plunged downwards to her death.

*Splat*

Kazuki continued to cry uncontrollably. He laid face down in a pool of his own blood and couldn’t move properly with his infant strength.

At this moment, a large snout turned him over. Looking up at the large boar monster, Kazuki’s crying faded.

(Why did I stop crying, why do I feel no control whatsoever?)

A deep voice then rang out.

“That human just fell off the cliff but why did she do that?”

Another voice came after.

“Hmph, humans are always so strange and dumb. We’ll never be able to understand the reason why they do such things. That’s not important though. This child was about to be killed by that woman.”

“What should we do with it, take it to the human territory down below or just eat it.”

At this moment, Kazuki’s small hand raised up and pat the boar’s large snout.

The boar was slightly taken aback by this but then a strange thought occured.

“I’ve got a different idea. I’ve always been curious about these human creatures. I’ll raise this one up as my own.”

“What! Why would you want to do a strange thing like that?”

The boar monster did something similar to a shrug and said.

“As I said, I’m curious.”
