Kazuki ignored Oren’s obvious disinterest in the Aziran army and the bad shit happening on the surface since Oren didn’t seem to care in the least. Kazuki understood this. To Oren who lived underground in a city unaffected by the outside world, the threats Kazuki spoke of were little more than smoke without a fire.
Kazuki gathered some ki and surrounded it with aura before transferring it to Oren across the way. Just like before, when Kazuki’s ki entered Oren, his expression changed. He could feel the warm energy working its wonders all throughout his body. Tissue regenerated, blood flowed with vigor and even old scars shrunk at a noticeable degree. Most importantly, something inside his brain was being restored to its original state.
(“Yes, I can feel it. Ya power is healing me and returning me to my peak state. This power of yours is like a miracle drug, the likes of which I’ve never seen before. It almost seems like I’m cheating ya out of something.”)
Kazuki didn’t agree.
“For me, the deal between us is definitely advantageous. I’m simply transferring a bit of excess energy, while you on the other hand will be giving me something that’s vital for my survival. As far as I’m concerned I’m coming out in black on this one.”
Kazuki continued to send his ki to Oren. Dozens of times he did this and each time he did, to Oren it was like a wave of a miracle cure. He could feel all of his strength returning.
His old greyish white fur picked up a few specks of black here in there and his flesh became a little more youthful. The many wrinkles upon his old face were now not as many and had been reduced by almost a third. When all was said and done, his strength had even improved slightly than when he was at his very best.
Sensing the overwhelming change in his body, Oren took in a deep breath, and with a long exhale he said.
(“To think even a few of my wrinkles would fade away. Truly an exceptional power ya have there. I’d say this is more than enough now. I remember everything, more than that, its as if I was under a thick fog but now it’s like looking into a pristine lake. My mind is completely clear.”)
Kazuki as well took notice of the change. Oren was already bigger than the other gorillas and was comparable to the current king Groud but after receiving the full effects from Kazuki’s ki, Oren’s stature had changed. His body had been not only healed but also enhanced and he grew almost a full foot taller. His muscles bulged and although orichalcum chains bound both his wrist, he at least looked like he could rip the shackles off the wall.
“So you can teach me the technique now?”
Oren nodded.
(“More than that, let me give ya a demonstration.”)
Oren closed his eyes for barely a second, the very next moment his eyes snapped open, and his aura came flying out. Kazuki couldn’t see it in this darkness but he could sense it with his own aura. Oren’s aura turned into a long spear and accelerated forward at a terrifying speed that was difficult for Kazuki to follow.
*Bang*
The platter that was still inside Oren’s cell was shattered and exploded into dozens of pieces in that brief moment.
This wasn’t simply heavy pressure due to the aura, it was an actual attack. Kazuki’s eyes went wide. He had felt Oren’s aura and had even sensed exactly what it did but he couldn’t fathom how it was done. What he knew about aura was limited. He knew it could create physical pressure making things heavier and he also understood you could sense your environment with it and a few other little things here and there but an actual attack. Kazuki had never seen Glacious, nor Etora use aura in such a way before.
(“Did ya catch that?”)
Kazuki snapped back to reality.
“Senior…I mean Oren, I witnessed it but I…I don’t understand it at all. I know of two seniors who have mastered aura but I have never witnessed either of them use aura like that nor mention this way at all.”
Oren shook his head.
(“They probably don’t use aura the way I do then. It’s understandable, not everyone can be a great master like I can. The two ya speak of are probably not really masters but amateurs compared to this great King.”)
Kazuki didn’t know what to say to that.
(If Glacious and Etora are amateurs then I am an ant, no even less than that, a speck of dust beneath their feet.)
“Oren, I don’t think that’s necessarily true. The two I’m talking about are incredibly powerful. Both of them have strength equal to the 6th stage and above.”
Really Etora and Glacious were equal to the 7th stage but technically not. Glacious had been weakened greatly due to the soul mark left inside of him and Etora was more than capable physically but he had no magic at all.
(“Kazuki, the stage your at doesn’t matter when one speaks of aura. You could be a 7th stage Mage but if you can’t use aura as I do, I will surely look down on ya. The reason being is aura, if mastered and used like me can penetrate the body and directly destroy the enemy’s soul. Once their soul is destroyed, the body is useless and is nothing more than a lump of meat. A puppet without its strings is nothing more than a wooden doll. Any being without aura is like a bug in front of someone that can use aura like me.”)
When Kazuki heard that, a question popped into his head.
“If what your saying is true, then why didn’t you use it on Groud. He doesn’t have any aura at all. You could have easily taken his life and then you would have never been thrown in this prison.”
When Kazuki said that, Oren went quiet before sighing.
*Haa*
(“Kazuki I may loathe my son now but that wasn’t always the case. At that time, I could have but let me put ya in my place. You wake up suddenly in the night and the one ya love has not only poisoned ya but is also trying to kill ya at that moment. The loved one ya watched grow, the one ya taught and showed them the way to live and the way to be. The act of betrayal from the one ya love at that moment is truly something that will shock ya to the core. When all these factors came crashing down upon my mind, I admit I hesitated but who wouldn’t. Tell me Kazuki, in the midst of being hazy from being poisoned along with the heavy emotions from being betrayed by the person ya love and raised…could ya kill your loved one like that. At that time, even if I was a god, I still would have hesitated. Even now, I hate my boy but my hate isn’t absolute. Even after what he’s done to me, I know it’s stupid and it doesn’t make much sense but I still…I still have love for him. As a father, I always will. Hate and love, it is this conflict within me that drives me insane. This is another reason why ya have to kill that bastard because even if I was out of these chains, I know I couldn’t do it.”)
That was a lot to take in and Kazuki himself didn’t know how to answer that.
(To kill the one I love. In that scenario, I can’t 100% say what I would do. I would hope there would be some way to talk to them, breakthrough to them but what if there is no getting through to them. This…I can’t answer it.)
(“BWAHAHAHAHAHA! Kazuki, that expression is far too serious. Forget what I said just now. It’s not important and to dwell on it is a waste of time for someone who has to risk their life in less than three days. Put it out of ya mind and instead answer me this. Why is it that aura can affect the outside world, after all, it is a power from within ones soul world, why can it affect things outside of the body?”)
Kazuki knew Oren was right. To think about what-ifs when you have to literally face death in only a few days. It was pointless to even consider and would only place unnecessary burdens on the one who contemplates it.
Switching gears, Kazuki thought about Oren’s question and something did come to mind.
“Aura is a form of energy and energy itself has rules in the world. Where it comes from doesn’t matter, what does matter is that it’s in this world and therefore it is affected by the laws of nature or something like that.”
Oren was a little taken aback by that and just stared at Kazuki dumbfoundedly for a moment.
“Is that not right?”
Oren snapped back to reality.
(“It’s not that it’s not right, in fact, it’s more like your dead on.”)
