【Sam’s POV】
“Severus, I’ll leave everyone here to you; take them to God’s Realm with you. We’ll be joining you shortly.”
Phiria said that and we vanished from that place, only to reappear inside her room.
“Thanks for you hard work. With that said, you can let me down now.”
“Ara~” She acted surprised. “I didn’t know you were still in my arms.”
After saying that, she reluctantly let me down.
“Your acting is as phenomenal as ever. But I don’t remember teaching any acting to Tzeeneth?”
When did it become so proficient?
“It’s acting skills were cultivated by yours truly.”
She replied proudly. She’s as handful as ever.
Well, given by how no one was surprised at Phiria’s capability to calm Tzeeneth, this too had happened before. In other words, Phiria and Tzeeneth had colluded behind the scenes to instil in everyone a sense that ‘Tzeeneth responding to Phiria’s pleas and calming down’ was not at all strange. This was probably one of her many preparations in order to ensure that I could safely get Tzeeneth back.
How fearsome, and how reliable. As I had expected, her genius rivals that of Jack’s.
Well, keeping that aside, my primary objective of reclaiming Tzeeneth has been achieved. Now-
“I assume you’ve already prepared the stage for the next step, right?”
The smile which arose on her face gave me the answer before her mouth could.
“Of course. Just stay inside this room for a while and leave the negotiations to me.”
“Aight.”
She teleported again after that, this leaving me alone.
And as I had thought, she didn’t really need to move the corridors when she could freely teleport herself.
Anyway.
⟦As we had agreed earlier, you’ll be Tzeeneth’s caretaker.⟧
⟦E-eh…..? M-me? I don’t remember saying anything like that………⟧
Simone’s voice trailed off in the end. After encountering Tzeeneth, she had perhaps realised how haughty she had been.
But of course, I wasn’t going to let her off the hook so easily.
⟦Well then Tzeeneth, this is your new caretaker. Be gentle with her, ’kay?⟧
Tzeeneth reassured me, saying that he’ll be extra gentle with her. Simone, on the other hand-
⟦Hiiii! Don’t leave me alone with this weapon! It’ll definitely eat me up!⟧
⟦What are you saying? You complained the same way when I left you under Maxwell’s care, but you two are as close as good friends now, aren’t you?⟧
⟦This is this and that is that!⟧
⟦I won’t tolerate any objections. If you have any questions, then consult Maxwell. Well, bye bye, and all the best!⟧
⟦Hey wait-⟧
But of course, I wasn’t going to wait for her.
Damn, bullying her is fun.
Anyway, we’ll think about Simone later. For now, I should revel in my touching reunion with Tzeeneth, though I guess since we are in God’s Realm, we can’t rampage to our heart’s content. Oh well, we’ll get plenty of chances for that in Meteron’s world.
“Well then, I’ll be going ahead to world 229B6 to aid the Heroes in order to bring peace back to that world. Lady Phiria will be going along with me to keep an eye on me and my new weapon, while Regina will also be accompanying me because she’s the only one beside me who is strong enough for that world.”
I made the final announcement to the group, but as expected-
“Eeeeeh, that’s not fair!”
“Yeah! We want to go, too!”
“And why is Regina the only one who can accompany you?!”
They were obviously dissatisfied.
“It cannot be helped, everyone.” Phiria came to my aid. “You have just acquired your new weapons, so it’ll take you time to get used to them. That’s why you will stay here for the time being. As for Regina, I’m taking her along as she’s already strong.”
“Then that goes for Sam, too, doesn’t it? Moreover, are you sure that he should be moving about in his state?”
Susan argued.
“Indeed. He’s perfectly healthy, as he assured you earlier. And although I would have liked him to stay here and train, the weapon that he’s acquired doesn’t allow that. Yes, as long as Sam remains in God’s Realm, that weapon will continue to try to eat him.”
Phiria informed them with sadness apparent on her face. Though in reality, she’s happy.
“Then just take away that cursed weapon from him! If you can give it to him, then you should be able to take it away as well!”
It was Chloe’s turn this time, but Phiria shook her head.
“It isn’t as easy as that. Tzeeneth is special; it wouldn’t leave Sam unless it wants to. We cannot do anything about it.”
“No…….”
They murmured ruefully.
“Then what about me?” Shiggurath chimed in. “I should be able to go with you, right?”
“Of course, that would have been the case normally, Shiggurath. But you still have to deal with the Council, don’t you?”
“T-that’s……”
She got silent after hearing that.
“Anyway!” I decided to lift their sunken spirits. “Don’t worry about me! I’ll be fine. Regina is going with me, after all.”
Regina’s expression stiffened.
“Hmph.”
While the others grunted and turned their gazes away in displeasure.
But it cannot be helped; the reasons we laid out were mostly true after all. In their current status, they would become weights shackling me. Shiggurath, on the other hand, still has that matter to sort out with the dragons. But since she has Phiria’s backing now, I don’t think they would dare to give her any harsh punishment. The most they can do is to bar her entry into their world, though I don’t think that would have any severe effect on her.
“Let’s go now, shall we?”
Ignoring them, Phiria asked.
“Of course.”
Phiria took the lead, followed by me and Regina, and then by the others. Regina came closer to me and whispered.
“Hey Samuel, you don’t have to answer if you don’t want to, but why are you taking me along with you? If it’s power that you want then that Goddess alone would be enough. The same goes for Susan and Shiggurath. So why was it that you brought me along, and forced me to enter the Hero programme even though I am the Demon King?”
A reasonable question, though it would be difficult to explain everything to her right now.
“All I can say is, just wait till we are teleported there. You’ll get all your answers then.”
“Haahh..” She unexpectedly sighed. “Understood.”
We walked towards the summoning chamber- using a different corridor, of course- and finally reached it.
But now that I think about it, couldn’t we have just teleported to here? There wasn’t any need to specifically walk to here, was there?
Rachel stepped forward the moment we entered the room.
“Shall I set the coordinates, your majesty?”
“No need for that. I’ll do that myself.”
Hmm, since she’s doing that herself, maybe she has a specific place in mind that would be good for me to start? I mean, even if this is not the first time I’m being isekai’d, it wouldn’t hurt to be careful, would it? We should probably start with a beginner’s town.
Phiria stepped into the summoning circle and imbued some mana into it. In return, the summoning circle started to glow.
“Let’s go now, Sam, Regina.”
She beckoned us to come stand with her, and we complied.
“Are you ready?”
She asked me for appearances’ sake.
“Yes. What about you, Regina?”
“I’m mostly ready too.”
Hey, what do you mean by mostly? That makes it sound as if you’re going to fuck up in the near future.
Phiria turned to Rachel.
“As usual, I’ll be leaving things in your care. If any troubles pop up, then you are free to use my authority in any way you seem fit. I’ll deal with the resulting troubles.”
Deal with the troubles? And like I’ve been saying (to myself), that’s called abuse of power!
“As you wish, your majesty.”
Rachel bowed.
“Well then everyone, until we see each other again.”
“Yeah. Take care!”
Chloe bade her farewell, and the others nodded asking. Though the fiery gazes burning in their eyes were proof that they were determined to not be separated from me for too long.
“Oh, and don’t worry.” Phiria approached them. “I’ll make sure that he doesn’t cheat behind your back.”
You are the last person I want to hear that from, Phiria.
“Yeah, please do that.”
But Susan unexpectedly agreed.
“Please keep an eye on him, Lady Phiria.”
And so did Chloe.
“It’s frustrating, but I’ll leave him in your care. Keep an eye on him, Phiria.”
And so did Shiggurath.
“Although I knew Sam isn’t that kind of person, it still wouldn’t hurt to be careful. Please keep him in your control.”
Wow. Even Cornellia nodded along.
“He’s a sinful man after all.”
Jack, you bastard…..!
Phiria took all of their gazes and nodded confidently. Everyone backed off then, leaving only us three in the magic circle.
“To the new world, then.”
She announced, and the summoning circle glowed even more furiously in response. Soon enough, we were surrounded by blinding light, thus forcing us to close our eyes shut. And the next moment, the air I was feeling on my skin changed. I opened my eyes, only to find myself in a dark place.
No, to be more exact, it was a dark throne room, evident by the throne situated in front of me.
And colour me surprised, for the throne was not empty. There was someone sitting on it. Garbed in regal robes, even the absence of a crown didn’t make me think that the one in front of me was not a king.
But the pair of black horns growing from his head upwards, along with his crimson blood eyes and the dark aura surrounding him pointed to one fact: the one in front of me was a demon.
No, he was a-
“A Demon King?!”
Regina exclaimed.
Hearing her shout, the Demon King in front of me stood up from his throne and walked down from the pedestal, towards us.
“Stay behind me, Samuel, I’ll handle him.”
Perhaps because she was also a Demon King, Regina thought it her duty to handle the one in front of her.
“’The Second Lord’.”
And so, she muttered the name of her ability and instantly appeared in front of that demon.
“’The First Lord’.”
In return, the demon spoke the name of his own ability, and instantly appeared behind Regina. Without even sparing her a glance, he advised.
“This is not the place for you to step forward.”
The petrified Regina was unable to move as that demon jumped from his place and headed towards us. He landed just in front of me, his figure resembling a retainer genuflecting in front of his lord.
“I, Solomon El Maxwell, the leader of the Ten Asuras, wholeheartedly welcome you back, my liege, and hereby return to my duties as the weapon that strikes down your enemies.”
