Beast Tamer Who Got Kicked Out From the Hero’s Party Chapter 55 Part 2

CHAPTER 55 PART 2

In fact, when the knights were leaving the branch office, Stella’s group had that peculiar look on their faces, as if they were wondering what was going on. And surely they must have felt that something was clearly amiss here.

However, they did not have the authority to go against the orders of their captain and direct superior, Gilet.

And even if they were to ignore the chain of command and just try to do their own thing, Stella and her companions were but a small, inexperienced group, accounting for less than ten people total.

If push would come to shove, they could just brute-force their way through, without having to worry about anything at all.

「Oh well, they were rather meek this time and retreated really straightforwardly when confronted, but does that mean that they are finally starting to understand their position and standing in the world?」

「Captain!」

One of Gilet’s men came towards him to make a report.

「We have managed to successfully surround the entire warehouse, sir! We have also got a rough idea of what’s going on inside of it! There’s no one there at the current moment!」

「Good. All right then, we are going to storm inside in a moment. And I will be joining you lot, just in case. As for what our primary goal here is…… I do believe that I don’t need to remind you, right?」

「Sir! Yes, sir!」

His men turned to salute him in response.

If only Stella and the others had been this receptive, things would have been so much easier around the Knights Order.

Gilet sighed heavily.

「Alright! Let’s do this!」

At Gilet’s signal, the knights rushed into the warehouse, leaving a few knights outside on guard duty, just to be on the safe side.

The inside of the warehouse was a large and mainly empty and unused space.

Even if a few dozen knights rushed inside of it all at once, there was enough space in there for each of them to move around freely and unobstructed.

In some spots, the floor was illuminated by the moonlight coming in through the windows and holes in the roof.

However, since the number of windows was overwhelmingly small, the moonlight that was seeping through was not nearly enough to illuminate the entirety of the warehouse.

In the dim light and the dense darkness, if the knights were even the slightest distance apart from one another, they would lose track of each other’s position and would become lost.

「Give us some light.」

「Yes, sir! ‘Light’!」

At Gilet’s command, one of the knights cast a spell
.
Soon after that, a ball of light emerged from the palm of his hand, dispelling the darkness around them all at once.

「Guh!?」

In the next moment, the knight who had cast the spell stumbled backwards, holding his wrist in his other hand.

When he looked to see what was that all about, he saw a long and thin needle sticking out in between the gaps in his armor.

As if utterly intoxicated, the knight faltered on his feet and fell down shortly after that.

The magic orb of light disappeared and the darkness enveloped the knights inside of the warehouse once again.

「What!? What was that!?」

「Hey, what’s going on!? Are you okay!?」

The knights quickly became confused by the sudden turn of events.

In the midst of it all, Gilet was the only one who calmly analyzed the situation and came up with an answer right away.

「It’s an ambush! All of you, get ready! Battle positions! The enemies are coming!」

***

The way to lure this corrupt group of knights into this abandoned warehouse was very simple.

All that we really had to do was to spread a rumor that there is evidence pointing towards the corruption of the Knights Order and their cooperation with the Lord’s criminal activities.

Once they would hear about that, they would surely go and try to either destroy or obtain the incriminating evidence, as they have done in the past as well.

And they would surely not dismiss those rumors as only mere rumors, on the very slim off-chance that they were actually real. Otherwise there was way too much for them to lose here.

People who are doing something wrong or against the law and realize their own wrongdoings tend to be on edge and nervous about being found out sooner or later.

And wouldn’t you know it, they mobilized their forces as soon as they caught wind of the rumors.

Interestingly enough, they did exactly what we wanted them to do in the first place.

They got lured into an empty warehouse on the outskirts of the town, not even knowing it was a trap.

Like this, we had them all in one place, round up like rats inside of a maze.

「Sora, Luna. Can you quietly incapacitate the guards standing outside?」

「No problem!」

「Fufun, I will show you the power that this here Luna wields! The power that even makes the very Gods afraid and quaking in their boots!」

The twins then came together and pointed their palms at the soldiers on guard outside of the warehouse, as if they were taking aim.

Then they chanted simultaneously:

「「‘Sleep’!!」」

The knights standing around the warehouse collapsed to the spot, just like puppets that had their strings cut all at once.

But because Sora and Luna were forced to use magic, their wings sprouted from their backs at the same time.

「T-Those wings…… C-Could it be!? A-Are you two actually the members of the Spirit Tribe!? That’s impossible…… How!? What are the members of the Spirit Tribe doing in a place like this!?」

「Didn’t I tell you? Those two are my precious companions, too. But since they usually don’t want to make a scene, they usually hide their wings away.」

「What the…… companions? Spirit Tribe members being all buddy-buddy with a human……? How is that even possible? No, but actually, this is…… It might be hard to believe, but apparently it’s the truth. I can see that you are an even more extraordinary person than who I thought you are, Rein…… Yes, what a surprise this is. A surprise, indeed.」

「Can you guys keep this between us, please? Right now, I need both of you to help me out, but after that……」

「Mm-hmm. Of course. Rein and his companions are like benefactors to us right now. So it’s only natural that I won’t go around town spilling out your secrets. Of course, the same goes for my people, isn’t that right?」

After saying that, Stella gazed at her people and the knights all nodded their heads in affirmation.

I then looked into their eyes, one by one.

There, I could see a crystal-clear glow from them.

I don’t feel like they were trying to lie to us.

Stella and the others will keep their promise, I’m sure of that. And that honestly makes me feel really relieved.

「And by the way…… What was that thing that the two of you just did?」
