Chapter 158 — Part 1
The artificial superhumans, released from their cultivation tanks, armed themselves according to the fighting abilities and combat programs each of them were given, and in order to quickly eliminate Dran and the others, they began to take action with the guidance of the artificial intelligence controlling the facility.
Although they were created during the twilight era of the Celestial Beings’ civilization, the Celestials were particularly passionate about bioengineering even in the midst of their race’s collapse, and were only slightly inferior to their golden age.
They were created with this technology, and since most of the manufacturing process was done by the facility’s AI, their abilities were not too much lower in quality than it would have been had they been created by Celestial Beings instead.
Armed with high quality armored suits that amplified their physical abilities and provided high defense against both magic and physics, they were also armed with molecular swords, and a combination of guns like grenade launchers, flamethrowers, and railguns which gave them inexhaustible physical strength and regeneration.
They met Dran and the others at a giant corridor that led to the lowest level of the facility.
They were already deeper underground than the layer of lava, and heading closer and closer to the earth’s core, but despite that, there were no abnormalities in the temperature and the atmospheric pressure, which showcases how high the level of technology that the Celestial Beings had, even in their declining stages.
If only the Three Celestial Dragon Emperors, the Three Dragon God Emperors, and the King of the Spirit Beasts hadn’t interfered, then maybe the Celestial Beings might have still been alive today.
It was easy to think so, because their technology is so far removed from present day technology.
Edward breathed heavily and looked around the inside of the facility with sparkling eyes and a curious gaze.
Dran and the others were concerned about the dangers of the acts being committed in this lowest level of the facility, as well as the people who might be carrying out those acts, so if not for their concern, Edward would have kept walking without looking at anything else, and would likely spend many hours or days trying to investigate this place.
Seeing Edward looking dejected and inwardly resigned as he walked, Dran, Eliza, and Yao couldn’t help but laugh, while only Diadora was taken aback.
If the people in control of this facility were not tainted by dangerous ideology, if they hadn’t so mercilessly used defensive weapons against intruders, if they had just started with peaceful negotiations, even if to advise the intruders to leave, then they probably wouldn’t have had to come this far.
When she thought of that, Diadora couldn’t help but think that it didn’t have to come to this, and she only got even more irritated.
On their right side was a wall, and on their left side was a glass wall, which showed the faint red light of the thinly flowing Leyline on the other side. Walking in between those two sides, Dran and the others were caught by the artificial superhumans, who were released from their cages like hunting dogs.
Among the four artificial superhumans, the one who looked the oldest was a tall and lean man with fair skin and white unkempt hair, and he appeared to be in his early thirties. He was the one who made the first move.
For the sake of convenience, the four of them were each granted a name by the man who created them; their names were: Zephyranthus, Physalis, Dendrobium, and Gerbera.
The tall and lean man was Zephyranthus. Zephyranthus and the others were equipped with extraordinary superpowers that were created by the Celestials when they were researching ways to develop the brains and souls of their subjects using all kinds of magic and psychic powers.
Zephyranthus could create a world of his own, where only he and the creatures he allowed to enter or exit, could observe the outside world and move around freely inside that world.
It wasn’t just invisible, it could also completely block out heat, sound, smell, presence, magic, and even chi, making it a world with extremely high stealth abilities that allow it to hide from the enemy’s search.
Zephyranthus’s superpower was given a name by the Celestial Beings: Perfect World.
It is a world that no one can notice, no one can see, no one can touch, and no one can know; an ideal world that is perfect for him to live alone in.
It was certainly a powerful superpower depending on how it was being used, but at the time, the plan to use clone soldiers was already scrapped, and the more pressing matter was how to put a stop to the declining birth rate and vitality of the Celestials as a race.
Since the Celestial Beings did not have enough vitality and willpower to challenge the Three Celestial Dragon Emperors and the Three Dragon God Emperors, and their numbers had been completely reduced by invaders from other worlds in space, in a way, it was natural that they hadn’t paid much attention to any superpowers specializing in combat.
This Perfect World, which was not valued by the Celestials, was created on a different plane that overlaps with the original world, covered about the same area as a small hut, and in its center was Zephyranthus himself. It moved freely through earth, air, and water according to his will.
The other three were brought into Zephyranthus’s Perfect World, and now they had arrived above Dran and the others’ heads.
Zephyranthus and the others, produced to be biological weapons, have no personalities of their own.
They only had the decision-making ability required of a weapon, and the response function in order to communicate smoothly with their creators, so in that way, they had the ability to behave similarly to humans, to a certain extent.
Zephyranthus had connected a part of the Perfect World to the original world, creating a passage about the size of a clenched fist, and from there, he threw a vibrating bomb which had the power to destroy anything around it down to its molecules with its vibrations.
Although they knew that those five lives would be lost as a result, not a single emotion rose to the faces of Zephyranthus and the others.
They would perform to the best of their abilities to accomplish what they were ordered to do. That is how they are, these weapons in human form.
However, if they had any human-like emotion at all, they might have shown a little bit of surprise when they saw wild roses suddenly rise out of Diadora’s black hair, and entangle around the vibrating bomb which should have appeared out of nowhere for them, and then absorb all the vibrations of the bomb, rendering it powerless.
And then even more roses were wielded like a whip, and it cut through to the Perfect World, even though it existed on another plane, and it forcibly dragged the four of them out into the real world.
It was an unexpected situation for Zephyranthus and the others, but it was not one that they could not handle.
As soon as they regained their positioning midair and landed on the floor lightly, they immediately moved into action in order to eliminate Dran and the others.
They did not show a single sign of pause or hesitation in their actions, even when the situation changed. It is precisely because they are weapons without emotions, that they can act without any delay.
