Chapter 349: Help from the Deities

I didn’t join the guys for dinner in Canum and instead went 『Home』with Riche in my arms. Nothing seemed to be broken at first glance.

「We proceeded first with the repair of the building. 」
The manastone on his tie was brown, so he must be the Earth attribute Note.

「Thanks, what about the 『Pantry』? 」
「It’s safe. 」
Nice, if the building and the 『Pantry』is okay then I can deal with the rest.

「Sorry for leaving you to work like this, but I’m really exhausted so I’ll take a bath and sleep. 」
Earth Attribute Note did a slight bow and vanished when I said that.

Basically, the Note guys only appear when they’re managing the notebooks, otherwise they won’t come out. He must’ve shown himself because he’s working on organizing the spirits?

Oh well, whatever, let’s just sleep. Hmm, the bath can wait tomorrow.

I only washed my face and dived into my bed. Riche bid me goodnight by bumping his nose to my fingertips as he snuggled into his basket beside my bed.

The following day —

The branches of the orchard trees were broken. The vegetables in the garden were wilted, with the ones from the 『Pantry』getting the worst of it.

「I’m afraid the immediate restoration of the garden is proving to be quite difficult due to the natural process of plant growth. 」
The Earth Attribute Note — oh, it’s green so it must be the Flora Attribute Note, huh — was standing diagonally behind me without me noticing him.

「Yeah. It’s fine, we just have to be patient with this area then. 」
Lucky for us that it’s still the season for pruning trees, albeit we’re cutting close.

Khadar suddenly appeared just as I was cutting and clearing the broken and bent branches. The fruit trees such as oranges and peaches that I planted to experiment with crossbreeding started sprouting new branches.

「Thanks. 」
Khadar wordlessly averted his eyes when I thanked him. Hmm, maybe he was being shy, or maybe he’s fundamentally not supposed to meddle too much?

The plants I grew from the ones in the 『Pantry』 couldn’t generate new spirits. Although curious spirits come to check them out and play around them, none of them would ever stay. Oh well, I guess it’s because these plants were created in exchange for my lifespan, so they’re not really ‘natural’ in a sense, so it can’t be helped. It’d be a waste to use 『Growth Powder 』so we just have to patiently wait for them to grow on their own.

After dealing with the orchard branches, I went to the fields, only to find Pal there. She’s the Spirit of Earth and Harvest, so her influence is amazing. The vegetables here had become even more vibrantly verdure and fresh and beautiful compared to yesterday.

She’s also helping me a lot today. Maybe because she took pity because of the destruction that happened here? Oh, and she’s also averting her eyes.

I also met Ish, Halalfa and Mischt, but they all turned away for some reason when I greeted them, or else they would move elsewhere to help with the restoration.

What’s going on? Are they really not allowed to lend a hand, so they’re pretending that they’re not here, is that it?

I mulled over my doubts for a while as I diligently cut off the wilted parts and pulled the vegetables out. Riche started imitating me after a while; he stayed by my side and started pulling vegetables out too. Is he helping me? What a good boy you are, good job.

I’ll use the branches I cut off for kindling, so I just piled them together and dried them. I then carried the damaged vegetables to the barn and fed them to the livestock.

The animals gobbled the veggies more energetically compared to how they ate their usual feed. Maybe they’re taking the veggies for treats? The chickens are crowding around the broccoli stalks in particular. It’s kinda scary how they’re vigorously pecking at them.

Time for my break and lunch too. I sat down in a nicely-shaded spot and took my bento out and also some water for Riche. Actually, there are canals around here where Riche can drink, but I just felt like doing this for him.

Rice balls, wieners, fried eggs — it’s a cliche menu, but the food is delicious nonetheless. I played a bit with Riche while we rested. Hmm, let’s go smear some medicine on the broken branches later so that the trees won’t be infected, shall we? I don’t actually have to worry about viruses and diseases affecting the plants that grow within the barrier of the mountain, but there’s no harm in being careful, especially since I know now that the barrier can be broken.

「I guess we’re done here. 」
The deities helped me out, so the work ended earlier than I expected.

It’s already dusk, so let’s just go to the island and bring some provisions to the Earthkins. They have excellent night vision, but I’m sure they also take breaks and meals in between. Let’s see, I definitely have to bring meat and alcohol, huh.

I returned home first and found Ludere there. He was writing on the floor of the living room that continued to the terrace. He wasn’t squatting down; he was simply standing there and pointing his finger and using mana to draw it on the floor.

「What’s up? 」
「For Riche-sama. 」

Ehhh…. Uhm, I’d be troubled if you just vanished after saying that… And why are you addressing Riche with 「sama」now?

I checked the floor, and found a somewhat-familiar-yet-not-so-familiar magic circle on one of the tiles. It also has a manastone — no, it’s a drop infused with spirit energy — fitted on it.

The pattern glowed faintly and a cold wave of air rose when Riche stepped on the tile. Oh, is that the extra-improved, enhanced version of the chilly chilly plate!? So it’s geared for Riche because he’s sensitive to the heat and summer is coming?

But it’s way too cold for me!!!!
