EX Volume 01 Galatube
Several days had passed since we’d been ordered by the Star System Defense Forces to stand by before the operation.
「So bored…」
I collapsed face-down on the mess hall table, drained by the sheer weight of boredom. This world doesn’t have much in the way of entertainment. Or maybe it does, but at the very least, I haven’t found anything here that suits me.
Ever since coming to this world, I’d been too caught up in the surrounding circumstances and scrambling for living expenses to even spare the time to look for such things.
「Mimi, I’m bored. Got any ideas to kill time?」
「U-um…」
Mimi, who was also hanging around the mess hall, tilted her head in confusion. When I glanced up at her, I noticed she was busily tapping away at her tablet. Didn’t look like she was bored at all.
「W-we could… do it…?」
Mimi murmured this with a blush.
「That’s a very tempting proposal, but if we start doing that just because we’re bored, we’ll end up unable to stop, and our lives will devolve into pure debauchery. I’ll restrain myself.」
I’m not one to turn down an offer when it’s laid before me, but that doesn’t mean I’m completely without reason. Even if said reason has been half-melted from being surrounded by beautiful girls, I still have my last line of defense.

Mimi tapped at her tablet and turned the screen toward me. What’s this? It looks like rows of thumbnail images—some kind of video site, maybe?
「This is GalaxyTube.」

「Yes. Or Galatube, for short. It’s the largest video posting site in the galaxy. You can watch all sorts of videos uploaded by users across the stars.」
I nodded. Okay, I got the gist of it.
「So basically a video sharing site… huh, sounds like it could kill some time. Let’s check something out.」
Sure enough, there seemed to be all kinds of content—home videos shot by individuals, promotional clips from companies, documentaries produced by film studios. Just watching could probably help pass the time.
「What should we watch first?」
「Hmm… well, you can’t go wrong with animal videos.」
「Animal videos… animal videos… ah, how about this one? It’s titled ‘Adorable Animals of the Galaxy’.」
Mimi pointed at a thumbnail showing a critter that looked like a cross between a cat and a rabbit. Cute enough. But… something deep inside me is whispering Don’t watch this one. I don’t know why, but the danger vibes are strong.
「Maybe we should pick another—」
「Here goes.」
Mimi tapped it before I could stop her. The video began with the title card, accompanied by soothing background music, and the cat-rabbit creature waddled slowly about on screen. Its movements were comical, almost charming. Maybe my worry was misplaced…?
But the very next moment, a rodent-like animal appeared. Looked like the videographer had put it into the cat-rabbit’s enclosure. Is this going to be some heartwarming footage of two animals bonding?
Then it happened.
「Hiiiehh…」
「Eek…!」
The cat-rabbit’s head split open into four sections with a grotesque kupaah motion, revealing rows of sharp fangs. It lunged and… well, goodbye rodent.
「That’s not adorable at all…」
「The poor mouse… it just… kupaah…」
Mimi stared in shock. I quickly closed the video and glanced at the description. Turns out it was actually a video showcasing deceptively cute but vicious creatures. The full title read: Adorable Animals of the Galaxy—Beware! Apparently, the Galatube homepage had cut off the last part. How misleading.
「This one doesn’t… kupaah, right?」
「Relax. It doesn’t.」
Thanks to this traumatic encounter, Mimi ended up unable to watch animal videos for quite some time afterward.
