Arjuna’s anger was growing more and more vehement with every word he spat from his mouth, but Tokuteru could only knit his brows in puzzlement.
…no. It was not like he didn’t know why his son would do such a thing. There was one thing that was on Tokuteru’s… Indra’s mind. Just one thing, and one thing only. It’s just that he never would have guessed, or even dared to consider that Arjuna would cooperate with criminals like the Demon Lords, throwing all of hos life’s glory behind for such a reason.
「That’s ridiculous. I don’t know what manner of nonsense they managed to fill that thick skull of yours with, but whatever it is, you should have no reason to be helping the scum from 『Avatara』!」
「Hmpf, what a strange thing for you to say. By its very nature, 『Avatara』 is a group of kings who banded together in order to save humanity from its imminent extinction. My dear friend is involved in it for the exact same reason, and if that is the case, then as the one who’s called the Hero of Benefaction, it would only be natural for me to land him a hand in his endeavors, don’t you think?」
「That is how it was supposed to be, but the current 『Avatara』 couldn’t be fartherfrom that noble goal even if they tried, and you know that! Or do you want to tell me that you’re going to fall down the path of evil along with them?」
Tokuteru screamed at Arjuna, but the youth had no plans to reveal his true intentions to him. And then, he narrowed his own brows in surprise.
「You really have no idea what I am talking about, don’t you? It would seem that even with your position as one of Buddhism’s most important Gods, you have not been informed about the relationship between The Sun Authorities and the Third Perpetual Motion. Then allow me to enlighten you, it is exactly because of that relationship that 『Avatara』 has to sieze control over them.」
Third Perpetual Motion. Those three words left Tokuteru Speechless.
Since Arjuna was a hero originating from the mythology of ancient India, he wasn’t supposed to be too knowledgeable about the matters of the modern world such as the existence of the Third Perpetual Motion, in which case the ones who possessed that knowledge and shared it with him must have been 『Avatara’s』 other members, and that in turn would mean that either some of it members or the entire organization began to interfere with the modern era!
(Could it be… Could it be that 『Avatara』 went to the Outer World without any of the 『Twelve Devas』 catching wind of their actions?!)
Normally, if the circumstances were normal, the way they should be, such a thing would have been impossible. They, the members of the 『Twelve Devas』 Community, were called Little Garden’s Heavenly Army, and every information concerning anyone from Little Garden interfering with the Outer World, no matter how small or insignificant of an interference that was, it had to be reported to them with no exceptions. Does that mean that there actually is someone capable of travelling to the Outer World without them knowing about it?
Tokuteru thought that maybe he managed to reach his son, but he merely closed his eyes with a disappointed expression and didn’t answer any of the questions he was throwing his way. When he realized that he has also failed to reach his father with his line of reasoning, the anger on Arjuna’s face changed into an expression of deep sadness as he placed another of his lightning arrows into his bow.
「The time for asking questions is over. From this point onward, I won’t think of you as my father anymore. If you want to hear anything else from me: about my true feelings, the source of my sadness or the truth about 『Avatara』… you’ll have to get those answers out of me by force, so come at me with everything you’ve got, War God Indra!!!」
The lightning withing his Divine Bow responded to his feelings and roared ferouciously. This weapon was a genuine Divine Weapon that could mow down entire armies if only its wielder desired it to do so. Accumulating all of that destructive power into a single arrow, he faced his father with it, prepared to fire it at any moment.
Up until this point, Tokuteru Mikado was trying his best to remain calm and composed, but now that his own son dared to challenge him to a battle, the lightning began to roar throughout the Labyrinth, but not the one belonging to Arjuna. Tokuteru brushed his hair back, and looked at his foolish son with veins popping up all across his temples.
「Come at you with everything I’ve got, you say?」
The blatant disrespect in his son’s words finally managed to make him angry.
Maybe it could be attributed to old fashioned anachronism, but in the age and civilization where these two were born and lived, speaking to one’s own father in such a disrespectful manner was absolutely out of the question. Even more so since both of them were Divine Spirits. His face got distorted with extreme fury, and Divine Lightning began to travel all over his body. If his opponent was any average warrior, they would have cower in fear and died on the spot form the sheer terror that sight invoked. While being in such a state, where his anger managed to physically manifest itself as heat that melted the ground around him, he roared towards his son:
「HA! THIS MATTER WAS NEVER ANYTHING SO COMPLICATED THAT IT NEEDED QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS! NO, THE ONLY CORRECT PATH HERE IS TO BEAT MY FOOLISH SON WHO HAS DARED TO STRAY AWAY FROM THE RIGHTEOUS PATH INTO A BLOODY PULP AND THEN GIVE HIM A LECTURE SO THOROUGH AND PAINFUL THAT HE WILL NEVER FORGET IT! SO PREPARE YOURSELF, OH FOOLISH SON OF MINE, BECAUSE I WON’T STOP EVEN IF YOU CRY AND BEG FOR FORGIVENESS!!!」
Lightning rained down from the sky like a cascading waterfall. It has become clear that just by getting angry the weather started to worsen considerably. Guessing that this fight was going to be a hard one, Arjuna immediately released the lightning arrow from his Divine Bow. Readying his lightning-infused Vajra, Tokuteru thrusted it forward, meeting the arrow head on. That is how a fight between a parent and child who were alive for thousands of years started with a violent explosion.
The fight between Indra and Arjuna was so fierce that the entire Labyrinth was being shaken with to the ground and clouds of dust were being raised all the way to the sky. But it was not just the part where the parent and child were squaring off against one another, because intense battles were being waged across the span of the entire Labyrinth. It’s wall which divided the paths in it into many corridors, and it was only a matter of time begore the entire structure would be turned into a perfectly flat plain.
The place where Homura and the others were right now was turned into exactly that, because it was the area where the Giant Spirit Train 『Sun Thousand』 well onto the Labyrinth from the sky, flattening all of its surrounding walls.
Even though Ayato fought against Shen Gongbao, Byakko and Asterios, she didn’t have any serious injuries on her, so she was certain that if they were forced to engage in more battles, she would be ready to take whoever they would have to face without any major issues. And not only that, but by stealing some of the Paopei that belonged to the enemy Suzuka also managed to raise her battle potential quite significantly, which helped to set Ayato’s worried heart at ease a little bit, since even if participating in open combat was out of the question for her, now she at least had the reliable means of defending herself, and if push came to shove, she could always teleport herself and the others with her 『Apport & Asport』, which seemed like it had quite a nice effect against Byakko in particular, or attempt to steal even more weapons from them, rendering them even more powerless than their enemies already were against them.
「………………….」
「Don’t move, Teleporting Girl.」
Yes, until their main enemy spoke those words, Suzuka was absolutely certain that everything was going to turn out just fine, but then the youth carrying a pair of double-edged battle axes in his hands appeared from the other side of the debris and ordered her like that. Ayato wanted to react to his sudden appearance, but she knew better than anyone else here that against this boy any kind of reckless movement would be a bad idea.
