Author: Arya
The sins gazed at the immensity of the structures, its massive defensive parameter and were surprised. Although the island was more advanced than the one in front of their eyes, still it lacked a crucial factor: liveliness. Apart from the sins there was only Aria who managed everything in the base, thus it lacked in grandeur.
Palm island was shaped just like a palm tree suspended on the ocean. The trunk part of the tree was where the League carried its basic operations and meetings. It was also the place where the majority of the staff and their families lived. The inner part of the base was accessible only to the select few, was divided according to the divisions and housed the core operations and important personnel of the League. It was the location where the Board was situated.
One thing notable was, even though the technological aspect of the league was too high, they had invested everything into only offensive and defensive capability meanwhile the rest remained the same based on the pre-world level technology.
The fleet of vehicles soon reached a standalone building. After departing the vehicle the butler gestured the sins to move inside.
“This is the location where Master Kevin and his friends would be staying. Even though you are family, Master Kevin, rules must be followed. That is the reason you and your friends can only be allowed to the open areas of League. Lady Nicole has been informed of your arrival. Please rest, Lady Nicole will soon meet you. All the amenities are on the Luther family, please enjoy your stay here.”
The butler bowed after speaking and left along with the fleet of JLTV’s.
Uncle James watched the butler’s action and nodded, as if praising a fellow colleague.
Soon, the team was greeted by the staff of the location and were guided to their respective rooms.
The location the sins were staying was a mansion-type building restructured to be used for guests. It had every facility for enjoyment.
The sins settled down quickly.
Inside the living room, Jason was going through the agenda of the meeting with the Directors.
Meanwhile James was taking a nap and Kevin was busy eating.
The agenda of the meeting was simple. Formation of an alliance. Due to evolution procedure the sins had lost a major amount of time so they lacked the proper foundation for creation of an alliance. After discussing with Lucifer and James, Percy had decided to let the League of Traders handle the part of alliance. As it could be seen from their current status and power the League was producing great results. Right now the sins were in desperate need of allies.
-Knock-
-Knock-
After a few hours a knock sounded on the door, the butler entered, holding the door he waited for someone to enter.
Behind him was a woman dressed in formal wear, short black hair with light makeup portraying a proper business woman personality with a cold look plastered on her face.
This person was Lady Nicole, the one who led the Luther family after the death of the family head.
As she entered her first reaction was searching for Kevin, his son.
Fixing her gaze on him, she sighed and moved towards her son.
“Thank god! Thank God!”
Moving her hands on Kevin’s face, her eyes turned moist. Her action seemed to have destroyed her image of a cold lady immediately, but everyone understood as it was an open secret that Kevin was the son of the Luther family.
-Ahem-
The butler coughed lightly.
Noticing many people here, she once again turned into her cold face.
“We shall talk afterwards.”
Apparently Kevin was unaware of what had actually happened with his family after the Reboot. He knew there were many things his mother wanted to talk about, but sensing the atmosphere he kept quiet. After all, the mission took first priority.
Taking a seat on the sofa, she spoke.
“Shall we begin our main event?”
Jason who was seated beside her spoke.
“Yes please.”
“According to your request I have exercised my right to convene a Directors meet. Now, I would like to know the reason behind that, but before that let me thank you on behalf of the Luther Family for letting us know about the calamity prior. Although I was skeptical about the source of information, that doesn’t matter now.”
“There isn’t a need to thank us, not yet. Let me ask you a question. Did you think the Reboot was a threat ?” Asked Jason with a serious tone.
A tension could be felt in the air.
Being asked such a question, a perplexed look could be seen on Lady Nicole’s face. Suddenly a creepy chill started to spread from her back, concluding the meaning behind the sentence. Taking a sharp breath she spoke.
“Although, there have been mutations and birth of monsters, wasn’t the Reboot a threat? Are you implying that there is another threat on the same level as the Reboot? Hmmm…….if you look at it from another perspective, yes the Reboot has also brought us back to being uncivilized and a period of war. Also the mortality rate has been increased due to constant fights between the supers. So yes that might be another threat on the same level as the Reboot.”
Watching Lady Nicole analyzing all the possible scenarios, Jason took a deep breath and spoke in a serious tone.
“Let me stop your imagination here. Although your assumptions are right, the threat I am speaking about is not something which can be imagined. If compared to the actual threat, Reboot might be seen as a boon. And yes, I cannot disclose it yet. All you need to do is just like the pre-world scenario where you trusted the Jackson’s, I would like you to trust us once again.”
Even though she knew there was a hidden mystery to all this, she refrained from asking.
“All I can say is, the Reboot was not a natural calamity.”
Hearing this sounded like an explosion to Lady Nicole. But her business mind quickly kicked in and she calmed down.
“Alright, but you must inform me of your agenda with the League. As the family responsible for guarding the League, I must know your intentions.”
“Do not worry, we come in peace. In fact we might need the League’s help, specifically the Luther family’s help. The agenda for the meet is simple. A world wide alliance and the formation of a new world government.”
Saying this Jason took a sip of water from the glass and then there was total silence.
******************
Inside the building at the top, Percy was having a conversation with the Temple master of this seemingly grand fortress city.
By talking he discovered the existence of the mysterious organization. There did not exist a mysterious organization as such, but there existed an old monastery on the mountains ahead. The monastery was considered the refuge of sages from old age. They lived their life there cut off from the outside world, only focusing on the internal and spiritual aspects. As for the other details he was unaware.
The Temple master was once saved by such a sage who found him lost in the forest. The Temple master claimed that the sage had great spiritual power and knowledge. He didn’t know the exact direction towards the monastery but he knew the general one. The Temple master pointed at the mountains far away in the direction of the stream current and mentioned the monastery being in that region somewhere.
-Zoom-
Bidding farewell to the Temple master Percy boarded the now arrived Osprey, heading towards the location pointed by him.
Surprisingly enough the Temple master did not ask anything about him or his intention. Since he was busy and time was running out of his hand, as the Holy Church’s men were about to attack that location soon enough, Percy did not bother to ask the reason.
“Scan for any abnormal cosmic energy radiation.”
[Scanning.]
[Negative. No abnormality found.]
Hmmm, what should i do now! The area is too vast.
Circling for an unknown amount of time in the area, yet there were no results.
********************
Meanwhile the troops of Holy Church were moving along the same direction from another side, thus they did not notice Percy and his Osprey or else it would have been noticed easily.
Along the way the captain had lost many of his men. His men and he himself were tired as they were being used as cannon fodder for the beasts in their way.
Light and Dark remained unbothered about it, though Light had helped them on many occasions, it didn’t help much.
Tch, these bastards. If only they would have helped from the start. It would have been much easier for us to reach the destinations and the casualties could be reduced.
The bald captain thought.
But despite this no one was aware that they were being followed by many creatures, which they had neglected along the way.
****************************
At a location a little far from the Holy Church’s current troops was a mountain, on the other side of the mountain was another scenic view.
At a height of 1,236 metres above the valley floor were a series of buildings constructed in a rectangular manner along with an active funicular transportation system connecting various other facilities which included a shrine and a chapel lower down the mountain along with the upper slopes of the mountain.
A miniature city, carved into the mountains. It was the home of the mysterious organization the Holy Church and Percy were searching for.
Hidden by the mountains and the trees, the miniature city was a wonder in itself. On its back were the tall mountains, in front were the trees, which hid the constructs perfectly. Seemingly carved into the mountains here lay the mysterious organization of the sages. The Keepers of Ancient Knowledge and the Masters of their Realm.
