Return of the Fallen Volume 10 Chapter 102
After the piece of god metal was gone, everyone looked shocked. Tozu as well was both surprised and apologetic.
“I…I.”
He didn’t know what to say. After everything Danny said and showed, he and the rest expected another crazy thing to happen and for the god metal to come out completely unharmed. Shaila started slapping Tozu on his arm and Sasai was just laughing at his older brother’s misfortune.
“Big brother that was brilliant. Come, do it again. This time show a little tact and hold back a little at least.”
While everyone was confused by the destruction of the piece of metal, only Kazuki and Danny were as calm as an undisturbed tranquil lake.
Once again the sound of something grinding away echoed out around everyone. A tiny insignificant fragment began to grow before everyone’s eyes until it was the same size as the piece Tozu had just destroyed.
“Hmm, did you remove another piece from the Titan Golem Danny?”
Danny denied Tozu’s conclusion and pointed at the piece in his hand.
“That’s the exact same piece or at least a part of it.”
Tozu examined the piece. Flipping it over in his hands he looked at every inch from top to bottom.
It looked identical to the piece he had just destroyed but since he didn’t look on at the first piece in much detail, he couldn’t be 100% sure it was exactly the same.
Kazuki opened his hand and the piece Tozu held shot forward and landed in his grip.
“You all may not be able to tell but if you had helped in making the Titan Golem there are a few giveaways to tell. For example, this one-piece has a mark inside from where Old Sid made a small mistake. ”
Everyone spread out their aura and Kazuki guided their collective auras to a certain spot within the inside of the piece. A tiny seemingly insignificant mark lay within. If they weren’t shown this specific spot, they would have easily missed it.
“This spot was left by Old Sid but since it caused no real damage to the piece, it was left in before we inscribed upon it. Now that small mark is permanently part of the metal. If the mark would have happened after the inscriptions, the magic would have repaired it and the mark would no longer exist.”
Kazuki’s hand holding the piece of metal began to glow with a red light as a tremendous amount of heat gathered in his grasp. The piece of god metal rapidly heated up before melting away as if it were made of butter.
Shaila, Sasai, and Tozu watched this in awe and admiration. Tozu understood his own power very well and so to did his wife and his younger brother. Tozu needed a boulder-sized flame and it needed to be superheated to such a degree that the color changed from red to bluish white but Kazuki was beyond different.
Not only did Kazuki not need as much fire, but he also needed far less power to achieve the same temperature or greater to melt the piece of god metal. The fact that he could achieve a greater temperature without the color of his flame changing already defied what they knew about the element of fire. Not only that, Kazuki had overturned a fact so easily with barely any effort. This simple act left them stunned.
While everyone wondered why Kazuki had melted the piece of god metal, Tozu, Shaila, and Sasai were more curious about how Kazuki’s magic could change the very nature of magic itself. Before any of them could ask about it though, that same grinding noise came about and the destroyed piece once more appeared from seemingly out of nowhere and grew in front of them to its original size.
“Use your auras and have a look inside. You won’t be disappointed I swear.”
Just like he said, everyone took a look inside and checking the place where Sid had left a mark, it was right where it had been.
Kazuki tossed the piece back to Danny and Danny continued the explanation.
“A regular offensive can destroy this but not completely. You have to use a far greater amount of energy than this can handle and you must destroy it in its entirety. If even a fraction of it remains the inscriptions inside will activate and it will repair itself fully. Also, this should go without saying but it isn’t just this piece that has this function but the entire Titan Golem itself. If one does not destroy the entire Golem in one attack, the entire Golem will repair itself, well that is unless it runs completely dry of energy but that in itself is doubtful.”
No one really knew what to say but eventually, Shin couldn’t help but shout.
“Holy shit that’s cool!”
He wasn’t alone in that sentiment. This new Golem was revolutionary. If even a tiny amount of it survives, as long as there is energy, it will completely repair itself. Different from other Golems. Once their power source was damaged or compromised the entire Golem could easily fall apart but for this new Golem Danny had said something crucial earlier and a few people had noticed.
“You said something about it not being able to repair itself if it runs out of energy right?”
Danny gave a nod to Shin’s question.
“Ok so if it runs out of energy does that just mean your shit out of luck or what? The way you said it, it’s almost like it can’t run out of energy but that’s heh, impossible right?”
Danny was silent for a moment letting Shin’s comment linger in the air. Everyone picked up on it.
“The power source of the Titan Golems is Kazuki’s cosmic crystals. If you look up at the eyes of the Golem you can see them shining. Those eyes are the size of many mountain ranges combined. They are entirely made of Cosmic crystals.”
Danny held out his hand and a Cosmic crystal appeared floating above it. The crystal was only the size of a small hair. As soon as they saw the actual size of one of these crystals and then saw the large eyes up in the sky that were as big as mountains, they realized that a frightening number of Cosmic crystals made up the eyes alone.
“Danny, just how many Cosmic crystals make up a single eye?”
Danny quietly held up three fingers. Kimi was taken aback and shouted.
“THREE MILLION!”
Asuna started to chuckle but she could see Kimi felt embarrassed right away and stopped.
The fact that only Asuna laughed kind of made the atmosphere awkward and Kimi’s comment stand out that much more.
Kimi’s embarrassment switched to anger rather quickly as she spoke through her teeth.
“Danny just spit it out already how far was I off?”
“Three hundred billion. It takes right around that number to make up a single eye.”
This number was not only shocking but was also hard to comprehend for them. After all, what could they compare such a number to to get a grasp of what it actually represented? Hearing how far off she was, Kimi wanted to shrink into her skin.
“After Sid helped to create his Magic infuzer device, it became very easy to make Cosmic crystals. Now that the machine had been built, for Kazuki who can easily mimic many different elements, he began mass-producing these Infuzers. Once production got going, the amount that was created was extreme even by my standards. Making them though was not a problem, what was however was powering or rather loading them up with enough energy. These crystals can naturally absorb power from their surroundings so Kazuki basically sprinkled them about here and there while he traveled around space devouring things.”
This time eyes fell back on Kazuki. It was a strange thing to hear about. Someone just devouring entire planets yet that was Kazuki. People were becoming exhausted hearing all of these crazy details. All they could do at this point was just accept this weird reality where people made and did the seemingly impossible day in and day out.
Kazuki scratched his cheek before smiling.
“As you all know I’ve been trying to grow my strength, well while doing so, it wasn’t hard to toss out a few million of these here and there along the way. Making my way around, after going back after a couple of weeks most of them had been filled with energy.”
Danny gave a nod.
“Yes because of all of these Cosmic crystals it would be very difficult for these Titan Golems to just run out of energy. Going at full capacity combat mode, they can be powered for around 10 minutes before they need to absorb more energy. Kazuki and I both have a large cache of Cosmic crystals though so even if they run low, it would take no effort to replace them if such a situation arose. So long as there is energy and they haven’t been 100% destroyed, any tiny fragment can fully regenerate these new weapons. As time goes by, we will have more and more of these Titan Golems and a point will come when they are more automated than now. Any possible threat that arrives will be met with a unit of these Golems and a day will come when we won’t even be needed to fight. With this…Our Realm will no longer be threatened.”
Looking up in the sky and seeing a Titan Golem the size of a planet, and after witnessing and learning about their capabilities, everyone felt Danny’s words were the truth.
A world, no, a Realm where they no longer had to risk their lives, a place of peace and prosperity. They wondered if it was really possible.
