Return of the Fallen Volume 10 Chapter 149

Standing on top of the hotel’s roof, one could look out and see the entire city. During this time, traffic was still relatively light as most people were still at work. To the Ancient beasts, Mei and Kosaru, all of them were fascinated by all the movement down below. Asuna’s family and Sam’s dad however were still confused as to what exactly they were doing up there.

Kazuki would have just sent them away, after all, they didn’t have to be here but at the same time, since these people were related to Asuna and Sam, they were already involved whether they wished to be or not.

(Why did you bring these normal humans up here anyway?)

Arc had mainly been quiet up until now but it was curious as to what Kazuki was doing.

(You don’t know much about this world but people are the same no matter what Realm they are from. When it comes to power, they will not relinquish it in any way shape, or form. If there is something that threatens said power, they will stop at nothing to see to it they remain in power. Because of that, people that are related would naturally be the first to be taken and used as hostages. That means Asuna’s family and Sam’s as well. From what I know there is no one else related to Shin who’s still alive. As for Danny, he understands what it means to not bring his family here. I don’t know what went on between him and his family but by not bringing them here it means he has cut them out of his life. Whether they live or die, he is no longer concerned about them. For Kimi, her family holds an enormous amount of both political power as well as combat power. Even if she didn’t bring them here, they would most likely still be fine but since she did, I won’t abandon them. This will be the first introduction to those in power. I need to show them exactly what they are dealing with so as to prevent any misunderstandings.)

(Misunderstandings?)

(Yes. They need to understand that they can not win no matter what and if they even try…There is simply no place for them on Earth if they do not understand.)

A buzz of electricity circulated around Kazuki’s finger as Arc chuckled inwardly. Kazuki couldn’t read Arc and therefore couldn’t tell if Arc was excited or pitied those that tried anything funny.

The wind picked up in the distance and a dark cloud seemed to be moving toward them from across the sky. After a few minutes, this dark cloud moved closer and it was obvious that it was not a cloud at all but rather a gathering of sorts.

*Fwhoosh*

A man and woman made their way through the streets at super human speed. They were so fast that none of the people on the ground could even see them. These two ran toward the hotel and the moment they got close, they leaped upward. Their feet planted squarely on the side of the hotel before they continued to run upward, scaling the building as they ran. In half a second, these two appeared on top of the roof of the hotel and stopped only a few feet in front of Kazuki and everyone else.

Everyone looked at the two’s strange outfits. The man wore a red one-piece suit with the image of a golden lightning bolt on his chest. The woman wore the same type of suit but hers was colored mainly in purple with black and the same golden lightning bolt image running down the chest.

“It looks like we beat everyone else here. Hehe, they’re so slow.”

The man was quite confident as he smiled and laughed. He didn’t even seem to care about Kazuki or anyone else. The woman standing next to him rolled her eyes.

“Of course, we’re the first ones here, who’s faster in this world? Is that even something to brag about anymore?”

As soon as she finished her sentence the door to the roof opened and Grandmaster Chul, along with Black Dawn stepped out to join them.

The woman chuckled lightly before pointing them out.

“It looks like we weren’t first, the grandmaster and even Black Dawn were here first.”

The woman was happy to cut the speedster down a little but the fast crimson runner wasn’t having it.

“That doesn’t count. The roof, Iw as first before them. Even if they were in the building that doesn’t mean bull all if they didn’t step out on the roof first. I won not them!”

The do were almost comical with this petty back and forth but it was entertaining so no one was mad watching it play out.

A few moments later, the people flying in the distance arrived above the roof. They all stood on platforms made of some type of dark energy. A woman wearing a purple and black cloak was the one controlling it and carrying them all over. At the head of them, all was a Japanese woman with a sword at her side.

She saw Black Dawn and grandmaster Chul and was shocked. Last she heard Master Chul was still in Korea and she wasn’t aware that he was even coming. Not only that but for some reason, she saw him standing next to the intruders as if he were a part of them. Not just him but Black Dawn she thought had gone to sight see but here he was ahead of them.

Seeing how no fighting had broken out between Black Dawn and Kazuki’s group, she figured the two had just now met and nothing had happened. Seeing them all standing on the roof she became curious as to why.

(Did they know we were coming, did Black Dawn tell them? No, it doesn’t matter. I am the representative of Japan, I need to be clear and do this right. They haven’t done anything yet but who knows what they are capable of. It’s best to handle this peacefully first by talking.)

Landing on the roof, the black platform vanished beneath these people.

The roof of the hotel was quite large but after these people landed it became crowded. Kazuki did a head count and there were just over a hundred people in total. He could easily tell from which countries they hailed from. There wasn’t a person from every country and some had one or two from their own country but in the end, this did not matter.

The two speedsters went to greet the woman but she ignored them and took a step forward.

The woman cupped her fist but did not bow as she spoke in a loud clear voice.

“I am called the Phantom Sword. Since some of you are previous Japanese citizens you should be able to understand me right? Which one of you is the leader?”

All eyes fell on Kazuki.

“The Phantom Sword. Isn’t that a bit cartoonish?”

The woman and everyone else on her side were surprised. Kazuki’s voice contained a power they could not perceive clearly. All they knew was that when he spoke, their bodies trembled. The only one who seemed unaffected was Black Dawn. Black Dawn though held a strange expression. He held his hand to his chest, he could feel his heartbeat speeding up. He looked at Kazuki with growing interest.

(His voice alone contains a domineering power. No one has ever affected my body. Could this Kazuki be a worthy opponent finally?)

The Phantom Sword could feel her sword vibrating at her side. She kept her calm and continued.

“I don’t know who you are but is insulting me necessary? I represent the interest of Japan. I have come to inquire what you are doing in these lands. Are you here peacefully or are you here to bring harm to my country, to our world?”

Kazuki liked that this woman didn’t back down.

“I haven’t come to bring any harm. I’ve come to sightsee more or less. So long as no one starts shit with me or those with me, I will have no problem with you. If however, something were to happen, that would be quite disastrous.”

The woman could feel the threat in Kazuki’s words. This was obviously a warning to not only her but to everyone else as well.

(He seems peaceful but is willing to fight. As long as this remains as just talks it should be fine. No toe stepping, and no posturing. At the same time I must investigate this properly and make sure nothing happens.)

“Sir do you have a name to go by?”

“Kazuki.”

“Mr. Kazuki.”

“Just Kazuki, don’t add anything.”

“Kazuki. You speak Japanese quite well.”

“I’ve been here before It’s only natural to pick up a few words here and there.”

He said this but the Phantom Sword knew he was being modest. He spoke like a man who had lived in Japan all of his life.

“Kazuki, since you’ve been here before, then you are aware that these lands have rules, and laws and that anyone who breaks these laws is to be processed under said laws to the fullest authority of the ruling government. Do you understand what I mean?”

Kazuki nodded.

“As I said I’ve been here before.”

The woman sighed inwardly in relief.

(So far so good.)
