Return of the Fallen Volume 10 Chapter 68
Kazuki gave the signal and it was like something within was unleashed. Hands and aura reached forward and snatched up slices of pizza left and right. Everyone went for whatever caught their eye and even the tiny furball started to gnaw on the edge of a slice.
As they pulled at the pizza, their eyes widened as the cheese stretched delightfully. Mei was faster then everyone and she quickly took a bite. The moment her teeth passed through the soft crust, she felt as if her mouth were melting as a chill ran down her spine.
“SO GOOD!”
Not just her. One after another, soft moans echoed out as everyone took their first bite. Kazuki nodded in satisfaction before he saw Detra out of the corner of his eye. She had picked a slice up but was hesitating. She had never seen such strange food before and was almost struggling on how to properly eat it.
Kazuki grabbed a slice and showed her.
“There’s this one place on Earth where the people love to fold their pizza like this.”
Kazuki folded his slice in half before taking a large bite.
“Try it, you won’t regret it.”
Detra for some reason was feeling a little nervous but she did it anyway. Folding it in half, she took a small bite and her eyes immediately lit up before she took a bigger bite. This was quickly followed by another and another until before she knew it the entire slice had been eaten.
“How, how can it be so good?”
Kazuki smiled.
“I just copied this from others. Those on Earth really know how to do food. I just made what I had seen many times before on shows and things alike but it really came out well. Thin but still has a nice chew and the sauce has a tiny sweetness to it.”
Kazuki knew that most Italians would find it sacrilege to have a sauce that was sweet but Kazuki didn’t care. He made it to his specific taste along with what he thought the others would enjoy and by their crazed looks, it seemed to be a hit.
The tiyn red and black furball had just eaten its way through the crust when it finally got to the cheese and sauce, it released tiny squeaks of pure joy, causing some of the ladies nearby to faun over it.
Alutra was stuffing her face as she had never tasted something so different yet so good. She had tried billions of different cuisines but nothing like this. The combination of meat, cheese, onion, mushroom, and peppers, was undeniably great.
“Kazuki this is the tastiest food I’ve ever eaten. Being sent to this Lower Realm, having my powers reduced, this…this has made it all worth it, hehehe.”
Once again Alutra’s oddness surprised Kazuki. She had been trapped and under her father’s thumb her entire life and was now free yet her freedom wasn’t even mentioned and instead pizza was placed on a pedestal. Kazuki shook his head before eating more. He couldn’t help but feel some pride over how well the pizza had turned out.
Kimi, Sam, Shin, and Asuna hadn’t had pizza like this. This pizza was something that resembled both Newyork style as well as Italian. Still, it was the best pizza they had ever tasted. They had all missed home at one point or another and this reminded them of Earth. A few tears rolled down Kimi’s face as she thought about her family. Each bite had a little bit of extra saltiness because of this but she didn’t care. She just kept stuffing her face while Sam comforted her.
Lamia and Tsura laughed happily while trying different toppings here and there. Tsura much preferred the pizza that only had vegetables while Lamia was more interested in the one that had meat go figure. Triska and Shin had similar tastes as they ate pizza that had a mix of both vegetables and meat. She liked onion and thin slices of meat that were similar to pork while Shin liked mushrooms and something that was similar to beef.
The Ancient beasts simply liked everything while Asuna was into a pizza that had chicken and Nunully leaned more towards cheese.
Kazuki didn’t know why but he found everyone’s taste interesting. Even Danny was eating only peppers and cheese on his pizza. Kazuki was silent for a moment before he went back to his own pizza. He liked onions and sausage and ate like a free-flowing river. Not just him but the Ancient beasts and Mei were trying to give him a run for his money.
Now that they were all at the 7th stage, this made it more interesting. Kazuki knew he wouldn’t lose but he didn’t know who would win between Mei and the other Ancient beasts.
(Both take a long time to reach their full state and this much food won’t be enough to fill them so it won’t be a competition of who eats more.)
Mei, Shaila, Tozu, and Sasai all exchanged a knowing look. In an instant, they assessed how much pizza there was and they all knew how fast the other could eat. They all wanted to eat as much pizza as possible but there was a limited supply. Realizing this, they all increased their eating pace.
“So good so good so good!”
Mei praised the food while eating more and more. The little glutton would not give in and neither would the others.
“Big bro, you have to make more of this for me. I won’t forgive you if you make this a one-time thing!”
Kazuki chuckled inwardly.
(Mei Mei’s a food monster, too cute.)
“Of course, I’ll make you more.”
Shaila, Tozu and Sasai all heard this promise and right away they all jumped in.
“Us too Kazuki. You can’t go around leaving trusted allies and friends out of such delicious things.”
“Big brother Tozu is right. As long as I get more of this pezza, I won’t hesitate to throw my life down for you!”
The three started to over-exaggerate which made everyone laugh.
Kazuki though realized how annoying it would be if he constantly had to make pizza all the time so he quickly set limits.
“I’ll make everyone pizza but I don’t want to do it all the time. How about we make this day pizza day. Once a month on friday, i’ll cook everyone pizza, hows that sound?”
“NOOOOO!”
“DENIED!”
“YOU CAN’T DO THIS TO US!”
Resounding cries echoed out as everyone found this to be too far and too long of a wait. Even Nunully and Sam who were usually more composed than the others gave their disapproval. Kazuki was being bombarded on every side now and even the little furball seemed to be protesting.
“You don’t get a vote.”
Alutra acted as if Kauzki’s words were sharp knifes cutting at her and her new little baby and she quickly covered the furballs ears.
“Kazuki how could you say that to your cousin. He’s only a child.”
Kazuki had to almost do a double-take as he pointed at the tiny red and black round creature.
“Now you’re saying that monkey is my cousin.”
Alutra nodded matter of factly.
“If I’m its mother and I’m your aunt that would make this little one your cousin. Now, how can you be so cruel to your baby cousin and deny him such a wonderful treat? ”
Alutra gently stroked the furball with tenderness as she continued.
“Just look at him. He can’t survive a month without the pizza. He’ll become sad and depressed and his cute fur will fall out. Just look at him and tell him he can’t have more. Tell him he has to wait so long and you’ll be breaking his heart and mine.”
Alutra held the little hamster monkey in front of Kazuki’s face and the little baby’s large eyes seemed even larger and glossy as if it were on the verge of crying.
(Is she really trying to guilt-trip me with this little thing?)
Kazuki found the whole situation laughable but at the same time, he got a reading of the room so to speak. All of the women were staring at Kazuki with looks that said if you break the child’s heart they would never forgive him. On the other side of that equation were the men. They seemed to not care an ounce about the little guy but with pizza on the line, they all had dangerous looks about them.
Again Kazuki found this all laughable and decided to mess with them.
“Your right, this little one is now my cousin so we have to take proper care of him right?”
Alutra smiled widely while agreeing.
“That’s right that’s right. My little baby, your cousin, we are a family so we must all take care of him. Right everyone?”
Everyone spoke up in agreement and then Kazuki added.
“Since we have to take proper care of him, that means we’ll have to make pizza even less. After all, as a growing boy, he’ll need proper nutrition. Not noyl that but we’ll all have to set a good example for him so we can’t go around eating delicious pizza in front of him. So we as well should only have pizza rarely. I’d say once every few months…No wait that might be too much as well. Ok, we’ll have pizza only once a year from now on. This way, we can raise him together to be a healthy and strapping young lad, hehe.”
Everyone felt their hearts drop as their plan had backfired.
Kazuki let them sit in this awkward silence for about a minute before he started laughing his ass off.
“I’m kidding. How about this. We’ll have it once a week, that way I won’t get too annoyed with having to make it all the time and you all can have it in a decent amount.”
Kazuki then looked over at Tsura and Danny and wondered if he should just teach the two of them. Tsura was an excellent cook and Danny wasn’t too far behind her since she taught him a thing or two. With three people doing it, it would mean he would only need to make it once or twice a month and the other two could do it the other times. As soon as he had this thought he then had another and wondered if he should just create a Golem with the sole purpose of making pizza.
Once more everyone began to cheer when Kazuki mentioned weekly pizza. It was almost as if everyone there was a child. Detra watched this with a light heart.
(These people, they tease one another, and laugh and have fun. They really care about each other like a real family.)
Detra felt envious of them but then Alutra grabbed her and dragged her closer to her while pulling the pizza to her.
“Let’s eat some more before all of the beasts empty our plates.”
Detra couldn’t help but smile and feel a warmth in her heart.
“Come on Detra, hurry up!”
Just as things seemed the sweetest, all of the sudden the tiny furball started squeaking almost in a panic. Alutra jumped up and Kazuki and Detra were not far behind.
“Nephew!”
Kazuki nodded.
“I know, I can sense them too.”
