Although this was a dining hall, there were currently not enough tables to use. The fact of the matter is, the kids had actually used many of the tables to help fortify the building, in fear of the monster returning. The green-haired Hina ordered the other kids to gather enough tables for everyone and off they went.

Tsura and Danny, on the other hand, were only now finishing up. With one last taste test, Tsura sipped a bit from a spoon before nodding, confirming something.

“Hmm, Your flavors are coming together quite well, just a pinch more salt and it would be perfect. Good job Danny.”

Tsurra smiled at Danny, who in turn blushed a bit. He wasn’t used to praise, especially from someone of the opposite sex. Danny turned around without another word and helped set the tables that had just come in.

Tsura wondered if she had said something wrong before adding a bit more salt to the meal.

“Perfect.”

All of the children sat patiently waiting as heaps of drool fell from their open mouths. With a hot bowl of stew placed in front of them, the aromatic smell alone was enough to drive them insane. They understood a very important rule, however. No one eats without Hina’s word. She didn’t do this to be mean and unkind, rather if she didn’t then people would eat at all times and sneak food. In this way, they would deplete everyone else’s rations which in turn caused way too many fights. In the end, everyone found it much easier and things went a lot smoother when someone was in charge of what time everybody ate.

Shin though didn’t care and picked up a spoon and drove the stew directly in his mouth, releasing a slight moan.

*Mhmm*

The other children looked at this young adult as if he were a criminal or a fiend before their eyes shifted to Hina in desperation. Hina could do nothing since someone else already started and heaved a small sigh.

*Haa*

After she woke up, Kazuki informed her that he and his friends would help her. Not only that, they even decided to feed her and all the other children. So even though she felt Shin’s behavior was bothersome, Hina couldn’t complain.

“Dig in.”

With Hina’s words, the children nearly dove into their bowls all at once. As soon as the soup hit their taste buds, several eyes nearly rolled back in euphoria. The vegetables were tender and melted in your mouth, while small bite-sized pieces of meat fell apart as their teeth glided through it without even so much as a chew. The children all lit up as they realized there was meat in the dish.

Some even wanted to scream and leap for joy seeing that there was not only meat but plenty of it, an abundance. More so then they had ever gotten in their entire lives, even before when their home life was prospering and good, before when a monster came. Also, the bowls they ate from were unnaturally large. These bowls were almost three times the size of a regular bowl, giving them that much more food.

This size was actually because of Sam. Not only he but everyone else’s appetite had grown immensely after absorbing the magic blood orb. Sam had gotten tired of making such small bowls which led to small portions and a repeatedness, which also led to him having to get up multiple times to refill his bowl. So, in the end, he made huge bowls like this. Everyone loved the size of the bowls, well, that is except for Nunully. Nunully was the only one in the group, that had a normal body and normal physicality. Add to the fact she was very slim beside her assets, this made her appetite leaner.

Asuna was delighted from the taste and felt a little surprised by how familiar it was.

“Tsura this is delicious but for some reason, it reminds me of home.”

Tsura nodded.

“That’s because of Danny. While trying to figure out what to make all of the children, he looked at the ingredients and told me about a dish from his country. So we made it. Although some of the ingredients had to be substituted seeing as how we were limited in what we had. This dish, Danny what did you call it, Ton-gee?”

Danny sipped his soup in delight.

“No the soup is based on the miso soup Tonjiru. It is a savory pork and vegetable miso soup. We didn’t have all of the ingredients but this is pretty close, not only is it close but with Tsura’s excellent cooking, it’s even better than a regular Tonjiru soup.”

All of the kids smiled and a few began to sing Tonjiru soup Tonjiru soup Tonjiru soup.

Tsura tucked Mei in and was ready to put her to sleep when a few more of the girls asked to be tucked in as well. The boys grew jealous and a few demanded to be tucked in while a few more begged. Tsura flipped her nose up at the ones who demanded anything from her, while cozily tucking in the ones who asked nicely. Eventually, the ones who demanded, saw that they weren’t going to get their way and relented. First, they apologized then they asked nicely enough and Tsura happily tucked them in.

Next, she told them stories until finally, they all fell asleep. The only child still awake was Hina. Sitting at a table pushed away to a corner, Kazuki went over a few more things.

“I’m leaving behind enough food to feed you all for a week but if that monster is really still nearby, It might be best if one or two people remain behind to protect the kids. At least get them to safety until we all arrive. You never know, we could enter the cave and somehow missed the monster, meanwhile, it’s on its way here. It’s best not to risk any of the children’s safety, especially since we have little to go on with regards to this creature’s capabilities. From what you all said, this so-called monster mainly has strength. If what you and the other kids say is true, then I and my friends should be able to deal with it properly.”

Everyone looked around at one another, wondering who would stay.

Danny raised his hand.

“If it’s about who’s going to stay, I would very much like to volunteer for that role if you don’t mind.”

Shin began to laugh but almost woke a kid up and was then silenced by everyone else’s stares.

“Hehe, sorry sorry, I just thought it was funny. Danny come on are you still a chicken shit?”

Danny’s brows furrowed.

“I’m not a chicken shit you asshole but I do see the reality laid before me. I’m just going on a measure of who is most capable. I don’t like to admit it but my current abilities rank the lowest. I use water, which later on will allow me to create ice spears or ice shields etc but right now, I can do no more than splash an enemy. Even my sword skills. I’ve inherited memories of incredible sword techniques but I have yet to practice them and gain experience with it. To put me in combat against an unknown threat would be very unwise. Out of everyone, I am the most logical choice to stay behind.”

Everything Danny said was true but Shin pointed a few things out.

“That’s bullshit. Are you really trying to tell me you forgot both your strength and speed? It is above Kimi’s and Nunully’s. Admit it, your just trying to back out because you’re afraid.”

Danny’s face went stone cold.

“Fine, I am afraid and why shouldn’t I be. The facts are still the facts though you dumbass. I may be faster and stronger than both Kimi and Nunully but their magic is what gives them the absolute edge. Nunully can create an ice spear almost as hard as a sword and she can make multiple of them, plus if she’s in a pinch she can make a wall of ice and protect herself temporarily. She can make a fog and hide and if the surface of something isn’t too thick she can freeze it. Kimi is even more. She now has that staff, which already comes with a single spell [ Barrier ]. With that alone, she can block a deadly strike. She can also blind enemies if she has too and shine a light for those around her. Her abilities make her a good tool to use and her strength and speed compared to mine, there’s barely a noticeable difference. So yeah, I am afraid, but also if you ask me or anyone else whos currently better suited for the job, the choice is obvious.”

Shin didn’t appreciate being called an asshole and dumbass but he got the point. He was going to call Danny out on it but he knew if he said anything right now he would do so by yelling it in anger and he didn’t want to wake up the kids. Still, e stared daggers at Danny’s forehead.

Kimi as well didn’t let Danny’s tool comment go unnoticed, however, she wouldn’t let it go so easily and stomped on his foot before retreating behind Sam.

Danny face twisted up a bit in pain but seeing Kimi behind Sam there was nothing he could do.

(Fucking Bitch.)

Kazuki went along with this.

“What you say makes sense. Ok, Danny, you will stay behind and look after the children and Tsura, you will stay behind as well and help.”

Tsura was a little bewildered.

“Wait, What!”
