After searching Kazuki’s soul, Zetrazz had seen every single one of his memories. All of the good and all of the bad. Every truth, and every lie he had ever spoken. All of it was on display.
As soon as he was done looking through Kazuki’s soul, he knew Kazuki had lied to him about Glacious.
“You actually dared make a fool of me.”
Zetrazz raised a single palm. All of the dark energy swept around the cavern like a storm of death and Kazuki thought this was the end. After lying to an ancient being, that’s what the consequences naturally should have been but once more Zetrazz proved to be an unusual titan.
Zetrazz slapped a palm on Kazuki’s shoulder, almost crushing it. At the same time, he released a laugh that was so loud it deafened Kazuki and broke off large chunks of rock from the cavern walls.
*BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!*
“A TINY MORTAL ACTUALLY TRIED TO TRICK ME! IN WHAT REALITY!?”
Kazuki tried to cover his ears as this sound shook his mind dizzy. Blood poured from his ears and he felt as though his entire head would split at any second from such loud insane laughter but at the same time, he felt relief.
(If he’s laughing, that should be a good thing right?)
After a while, Zetrazz looked at Kazuki’s pained expression and controlled his laughter. Once more the cave became quiet.
Kazuki’s eardrums quickly healed and Zetrazz took note of it.
“So that’s ur healing ability. Seeing your memories is one thing but having it happening before me is another. I don’t know of any mortals below the 6th stage that heal as fast as you do. If that’s true then the other things I peered at are true as well. I watched you consume many different things using the technique you call nameless or devour. In actuality, it is called Ourodyess. Named after an ancient god, he became obsessed with food and eating. Eventually, he developed this power and in doing so he went insane. He started eating worlds in the lower realm and then stars. With it both, his power and appetite grew and his mind only worsened until his instincts took over and he was nothing more than a beast who knew no limits. His sight turned on the higher realms. Only when that happened did other gods rise up and together and with their combined strength they were able to finally slay Ourodyess once and for all or so the myth says.”
Kazuki was lost for words. One moment he thought he was going to be killed and the very next he’s learning the origins of the devouring power.
Zetrazz as well looked at Kazuki differently.
“Yes, with such a power, you could grow but what you have within you is an inferior version of the Ourodyess technique. Even that Etora puppy doesn’t have the complete version otherwise he would not have nearly died when he ate that fused Azirian.”
Zetrazz’s mood did a complete 180 and he now seemed to be over the moon.
“I can see now, you do have potential. Not only do you have potential, given enough time I no longer doubt you could come and challenge me one day. Seeing your entire life, I now understand. You really know almost nothing about this god that watches you. You weren’t lying, whoever this god is, he or she doesn’t seem to care at all about you. At the same time, there is no doubt that whoever watches you is not someone looking out for your best interest.”
Zetrazz snapped a finger and with it, his dark energy drilled into the golden compass.
*Ssssss*
A tiny hiss rang out and Kazuki could no longer sense godly aura coming from his compass. His eyes widened, stunned and confused.
“What did you just do?”
Zetrazz shrugged.
“Whoever was watching, can no longer even if they are a god. As long as that compass remains in this lower realm, my power holds sway over theirs and they can no longer spy like a shady rat in the night.”
Kazuki looked at Zetrazz in an odd way.
(For you to call something shady, you’re completely made of shadow.)
Zetrazz tossed the compass back to Kazuki.
Kazuki inspected his compass with mild confusion. He honestly didn’t know how to feel at this moment. The compass was a keepsake from his uncle. Besides his brother and granny master, his uncle was the only one who really was like family and who he had loved. At some point, his uncle just disappeared one day without a trace and his mother and sister acted as if it was normal. For his compass to be messed with in such a way, was it actually helping or harming, Kazuki couldn’t tell.
The way Zetrazz looked at him though, it seemed as if he wanted a thankyou or something but Kazuki was in no mood. Still, the fact that Zetrazz had yet to kill him, even though he knew Kazuki had lied to him about Glacious and had also done something for him by removing the watchful gaze of a certain god, Kazuki wondered…
“You removing the aura from my compass, can I take this to mean you no longer intend to kill me?”
Zetrazz waved a hand and at the center of the cave, a small stone pillar began to rise up until it stood about 4 feet of the ground. At its center was a crystal. Kazuki recognized it immediately.
“Acadian crystal.”
“Oh, you know of it. Of course, you do, I just looked into your memories. You discovered this very same crystal at that weird village where you were attacked by Mangshi beasts.”
Kazuki felt weirded out as Zetrazz so easily recounted his memories as if they were his own.
Kazuki remembered how rare Acadian crystals were and how they could fetch 100’s of millions of gold Zeni. What he didn’t understand was why Zetrazz brought that out instead of answering his question.
“You know what this crystal is. With an Acadian crystal, one can convert natural energy into magic energy but what I know you don’t know is that Acadian crystal can also convert magical energy into other types of magical energy. For example from dark energy to space and time.”
“Why are you telling me this?”
Zetrazz waved his hand once more and the floor started to rotate. Once he did that, 10’s of thousands of inscriptions revealed themselves on the floor. Kazuki hadn’t seen them earlier but the natural movement from Zetrazz told him they were always there and he had just not noticed them until now.
“That other power of yours Ki was it. NOt only that but those strange sword forms, now that is interesting. From your memories, Glacious was clearly weakened yet with those techniques he was able to contend with a 7th stage false body. Not only that but you’ve also learned strange ways to manipulate aura from that ape Oren. All of these things, with them, my power will rise to unprecedented heights.”
Kazuki instinctually became defensive but Zetrazz simply smirked.
“I’m not going to physically take them you dumb worm. I’ve already seen all of your memories, they are a part of me now. In time, I will naturally be able to master them.”
Zetrazz stood next to the Acadian crystal and placed a palm on top of it.
His power began to fill the crystal. The crystal began to darken but as time passed, the color changed to grey and purple.
“You have given me a bundle of treasures and because of this, you deserve a proper reward.”
Kazuki understood. Seeing the inscription on the floor begin to glow, he could read the ancient language and knew that this magic circle was for teleportation.
“You’re sending me back to the surface!?”
Zetrazz smirked once more and shook his head.
“If I were sending you to the surface, I could simply throw you to the top of my trench or fly you out from here myself. Why would I waste resources for the likes of you.”
Kazuki didn’t understand.
“But…Isn’t that for teleporting?”
Zetrazz nodded.
Kazuki began to feel a chill crawl down his back.
“I thought you weren’t going to kill me. What is this? How is this considered a reward?”
“Reward, your reward is me not killing you. In the end, you entered my lair and you even tried to play me for a fool. For the memories I received, I will not be taking your life, be grateful. For the punishment though, you will be returned to the surface, just not the one you wish. From your memories, there are quite a number of Azirians approaching from the west along with a large Miasma of sorts. Were I to send you there, I wonder how long you could survive.”
“WAIT YOU CAN’T DO THIS!”
Kazuki was so shocked by the titan’s plans that he couldn’t help but shout at the top of his lungs.
The titan’s expression twisted and aura crashed down on top of Kazuki.
“YOU FORGET YOUR PLACE ANT! I CAN DO ANYTHING I SO WISH! NOW KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT, OTHERWISE I’LL SEND YOU TO THE OTHERSIDE WITH DUST FOR BONES! DO YOU UNDERSTAND!?”
Kazuki could say nothing. Any resistance whatsoever would mean being sent to an unknown with a crushed body. Even if he could heal quickly, if an attack from a powerful creature was imminent, he could very well die then and there. Kazuki had no choice but to nod his head in silence.
Zetrazz smiled watching this.
“Good, lay there quietly like the worm you are.”
Zetrazz twisted the crystal on top of the pillar and the inscriptions upon the floor became brighter and brighter. The light became so intense that it was burning Kazuki’s eyes but Kazuki was so enraged he didn’t care. Just before he left, he couldn’t suppress his anger any longer.
“I will not forget this humiliation. I will see you again…ZETRAZZ!”
Zetrazz shook his head.
“If we do meet again, the next time I will not be so charitable. Goodbye ant.”
*SHINE*
The light took over Kazuki’s vision and completely blinded him. Kazuki heard Zetrazz’s words fading and he roared in defiance.
“ZETRAZZZZZZZZZZZ!!”
