Return of the Fallen Volume 7 Chapter 24
As he was making his way through the city, checking out the new sights here and there a cold domineering voice entered his mind.
(So you are a hypocrite.)
Kazuki’s steps paused for a split second as he froze at this unexpected yet familiar voice. Looking down at his compass, Kazuki could sense the dark energy within, pulsing with power. Kazuki once again moved down the road. Connecting his mind to his compass he spoke with his thoughts.
(I thought you said you could only observe my actions. How can you speak with me Zetrazz?)
The dark power in the compass pulsed once more in response.
(I never said my power was limited to only listening and watching. I simply said I would observe, I never said I wouldn’t contact you. As for how I can speak with you, I’m a Titan. My powers are beyond a mere mortal’s comprehension. Did you honestly forget though when I said this small piece within your compass is a part of me. You can think of it as a clone of the original if you wish. Maybe that will make sense to you. Besides these simple things, back to the main topic. I called you a hypocrite. You call me out for destroying the weak because you said that I was afraid of potential, afraid of their growth. Afraid that they could grow more powerful than me and become a threat. Did you not just do the exact same thing you claimed I was doing?)
Kazuki continued to walk around the city. Without looking at his compass he continued to conversate with Zetrazz but it was weird hearing a voice that no one else could.
(My situation and yours are quite different. Whether those people had the potential to grow or not didn’t matter as they were aiming for my possessions as well as my life. They declared themselves my enemy from the get-go. To let them live would only be foolish. You on the other hand would kill someone for simply accidentally entering your home. Besides even if you killed someone who could rival you one day, I would remain silent if they already had the intention to be your enemy from the beginning. So as you can see, you and I, our situations do not resemble one another. A hypocrite, I most certainly am not.)
Zetrazz went silent. At the same time, the golden compass grew incredibly cold in an instant and Kazuki could feel his chest becoming numb. His eyes widened before he promptly took his compass off and held it up to eye level.
“Can’t even take an ounce of criticism, some Titan you are!”
Kazuki’s abrupt shouting in the middle of the road caused some passersby’s to stop and point, a few whispering murmurs directed at him.
The compass returned to a normal temperature and Zetrazz spoke once more.
(Hahahaha, you are too fragile Kazuki. To snap over a mere prank, hehe.)
Kazuki quickly returned his compass to around his neck before running ahead away from the crowd.
(You! What are you trying to do? Why watch me, why try and make me look crazy?)
The energy within the compass settled down and Zetrazz no longer responded, causing some frustration on Kazuki’s part.
As Kazuki made his way through the streets, he eventually found his way in front of a large building. The building itself was painted sky blue and stood 8 stories tall. The signboard hanging from the front read [Guild Hall]
Kazuki became curious about the happenings in the country, as well as the fighting. The fact that he couldn’t get a response from Glacious while inside the Rin mountain range told Kazuki that Glacious was no longer there. The only reason he could think of for this was his sister Fera.
(Fera has become enemies with Glacious. The fact that Glacious sent her ass packing back to the dark continent, there’s noway she would simply remain silent from this humiliation. She would go to the ends of the world to hunt me and were supposed to be family. What would she do against an enemy that is as strong as her if not stronger. Would she simply lay low in her kingdom or would she do everything in her power to remove a future threat.)
Kazuki began to think about the conversation he just had with Zetrazz about future threats. Kazuki felt the longer his bitch of a sister waited, the worse she would be off. Glacious was a dragon, a being that continued to grow in strength the longer he lived. She on the other hand was a human. If she waited too long, Glacious could eclipse her in strength by merely living longer, that is unless she grew even stronger than now or stopped him from living longer.
(The guildhall should have news from all over the continent. Maybe there will be news about Glacious.)
Kazuki casually walked into the guild hall and was immediately greeted with hundreds of stares. Some eyes held curiosity while others held anxiety or even hatred. Kazuki had no clue why some people looked as if they wanted to rip his head off and just ignored them.
Making his way to the counter, a large man walked in front of him. The man was actually bigger than Kazuki and stood several inches above him. With a sword that was as long as him, dressed all in red. The man smiled with a genuinely friendly attitude.
“Hey, you look like you can handle yourself pretty well. I’ve never seen you in this guild before. What rank are you? If your strong your welcome to join my group.”
The large man pointed off to the side of the room with his chin where a few men and women were chatting and drinking. One of the men raised his drink in response to the large man indicating he was a part of the man’s team. A few of the women at the table also gave side eyes to Kazuki, one or two licking their lips seeing him.
Kazuki had to think about how to respond for a moment. It had been a long time since he’d even been in this building, recalling the word rank, the man in red was referring to the ranks of adventurers. Kazuki had gotten an Adventurers Card when he received forged documents long ago. He even still had the Adventurers Card on him. Remembering it right he answered the man.
“I’m silver rank but I have no…
Just before Kazuki was going to say he had no intention of joining the group the man’s expression warped.
“Hmph, to think you were actually this weak. You’ve wasted my time and now I look like the fool for having approached you. Listen here kid, you need to be at least gold rank before me and my group even start to consider you. Go back home and drink your mother’s titty milk before you enter this place again, otherwise, you’ll likely get yourself killed.”
Kazuki was completely taken aback by this flip in attitude and was a little stunned. The man then turned around and walked away, joining his group at their table.
He then overheard them all talking.
“Hey hey what happened, weren’t we going to let him join?”
The large man shook his head.
“He’s far too weak, only silver rank.”
“Eh, but he looks so strong. Only silver, it’s good you turned him away then. He’d only drag us to our deaths.”
“Good call, hahaha. Look at him, he looks like a lost puppy that’s just been abandoned. The least you can do is buy him a drink.”
“What the fuck! Waist good coin on a nobody. I’d rather slap my own mama than spend money on a loser like him.”
Kazuki actually couldn’t believe what he was witnessing for a moment. He could feel the dark energy inside his compass start to stir at this moment. Ignoring it, Kazuki walked over and stood right in front of the group’s table.
One of the ladies at the table acted as if she were scared and joked.
“Oh my god he’s here, that does it we’re all gonna get bitten by the puppy.”
The leader looked at Kazuki with disgust.
“Oy, didn’t you hear me a second ago? I said your weak little man, now fuck off!”
The leader and everyone at the table burst out in laughter but Kazuki just stood there. A second later the leader picked up his drink and was about to take a drink when his cup vanished from his hand.
His cup, before he even noticed, was already in Kazuki’s grip. Everyone’s laughter came to an abrupt halt as they had not been able to see Kazuki’s movements whatsoever. Kazuki took the drink and knocked it back in one go before slamming it down on the table. The table then proceeded to shatter but it wasn’t finished with just that. The ground beneath the table was made of marble-like stone. Kazuki’s blow sent a tremendous force downward and the floor cracked and the crack stretched outward for nearly 20 feet.
The entire building shook and seemed as if it would come tumbling down at any moment. After a few seconds, the trembling building finally came to a rest.
Everyone in the building had panicked while this happened but the moment it stopped a deathly silence filled the entire guild. Everyone that was on the first floor, without exception their gaze fell on Kazuki.
Kazuki took a small step forward and as soon as he did the entire group flinched and jumped backward slightly. Kazuki smiled mischievously.
“Thanks for the drink.”
He then turned and headed to the counter, leaving everyone dumbfounded and shaking from head to toe. One of the girls who was making fun of Kazuki a moment ago now glared at her leader with snake-like eyes and growled at him.
“Silver rank my ass!”
