【Sam’s POV】
“So, I have a proposal.”
He looked at me with the ‘What the hell is this guy saying?’ look.
“You don’t have to be so cold towards me, you know. We might have to work together in the future, so let’s get to know each other well, yeah?”
“……………” He sighed. “What is it?”
“That wasn’t so hard, was it?”
We should get along with each other.
“Just get on with it.”
His tone was colder this time.
“All right, all right. What I’m saying is, let’s fire our strongest attacks at each other to determine the outcome, shall we? The last one standing wins.”
“Strongest attack?” He started closing the distance between us. “This area won’t survive-”
“That’s a lie, right?” His frown deepened. “The barrier didn’t even flinch against the explosion caused by Lantz’s and Balfazar’s fight. According to my estimations, it should be capable of handling a power 100 times more than that. So, unless your strongest attack is even stronger that that, which it definitely isn’t, I think we can go along with my suggestion.”
It goes without saying that I don’t know shit about this barrier. All I know is that, if the need arises, then Phiria will handle it. I’m sure she has already understood my intentions.
But hey, let’s add a bit of truth as well.
“Moreover, I can sense several manas working in conjunction to maintain that barrier, including Cecile’s.”
There’s a mana which is as strong as Michael’s as well.
“First of all.” He disappeared. “That’s ‘Third Princess’ for you. Don’t speak her name so casually!”
This is the part that he wants to comment on? Is this guy nuts?
I deflected the slash aimed at the back of my neck and jumped forward to create some distance.
“I see. I’ll keep that in mind. So, what do you think? Are you willing to believe in the Third Princess’s barrier?”
His face twitched as I used the title of the Third Princess.
“So be it!” His voice was harsh, his glare even harsher. “I’ll attack you with my strongest attack.” Then he pointed his finger at me. “I expect you’ll do the same.”
“Oh, of course I would.”
No, I won’t. Like, I’m not here for mass slaughter.
“Well then.” He jumped back to the edge of the stage. “You better prepare.”
He closed his eyes and crossed his arms in front of him, as if trying to concentrate. As the mana in the air started to tremble-
“UooooohhhhhhhhhhHHHHHHH!”
He started letting out weird noises which, aside from creeping me out, seemed to serve the purpose of letting him collect power. Mana swirled around and created a tornado, and small flashes of lightning crackled around his body.
“What is happening here?! Arthur is using a great move which is making the stage itself tremble, while Samael is just watching him in a daze!”
Daze? How rude.
As his body started to tremble, he started looking down, as if trying to make himself smaller. The next moment, he swung his arms wide with a jolt, and a shockwave of mana was spread along with it. The shockwave was so strong that I actually had to use decomposition multiple times to dissipate it.
Michael, on the other hand, now had angelic white wings sprouting from his back while his hair had turned golden.
“Heaven’s Wrath!”
He shouted the name of his magic spell (or skill), and then shot up in the sky with his tremendous leg power, destroying the very stage in the process.
Since the barrier around the stage was cylindrical in stage with an open top, he was unhindered in his ascent towards the clouds.
Wait, isn’t he going too high? Like, I have to augment my eyes to make out his figure, which just basically means that I create a telescope in front of my eyes by changing the properties and density of air.
Upon reaching a sufficient height, he raised his arms in front of him, and he started glowing brightly with a golden hue. A large golden magic areia appeared in front of him, horizontally, and from it started the descent of a big fucking sword.
Hmm, I see. Interesting.
I have determined that I should get the time bending ability to go back in time and punch the fucking idiot that is me of the 5 minutes ago for needlessly provoking him into using such a move.
Like, dude, that shithead actually took out a white sword 70 metres in length and 20 metres wide. Oh, and look, its edge is actually sharper than a real sword. Wow, impressive.
…………………
Good grief.
My right hand tingled. Why? Because Tzeeneth was getting excited.
‘Unleash me unleash me guahahahahahaha! We’ll fucking kill this bastard!’ It seemed to be saying.
First of all, calm down. He’s an integral part of my plans, you know? Keeping him alive is absolutely necessary.
What? You don’t care? Please care, all right? You’re breaking my heart here. We cannot erase his existence, at least, not now. If the need arises, then I’ll bring you out.
A sharp seething pain ran through my hand, and Tzeeneth stopped communicating.
Geez, it’s getting too impatient.
Anyway.
‘Do not provoke your opponent needlessly.’
After sending my future self that message, it was time to tackle the problem in front of me. That is, what the fuck do I do about that 70 metres long sword. Before that, why isn’t he wielding it at me? Waiting for me to bring out my move?
Hmm. Now then, what should I use? ‘Schlachten’, the mass-energy conversion magic cannot be used. High up in the skies, I don’t have anything to use it on, while I can’t really convert Michael himself into energy, can I?
What else then? ‘Decomposition’ won’t work since the spell is already complete, while my other spells are either too weak or don’t have enough range. Even Regina’s ‘Extinction Ray’ is slightly weaker.
……………
Haaah…………
Since he’s attacking with his own strongest magic spell, I guess I should reply in kind by using my strongest attack without using any of the Authorities and Tzeeneth.
And for that, I guess I have no choice but to go along with that; the world ending magic spell taught to me by her. The conditions are optimal. There’s no one to hinder me, and I can take my time casting it. Moreover, since I’m using it towards the sky, I don’t run the risk of accidentally destroying this city.
Yosh, let’s do this!
“I am the bone of my sword-”
Wait, wrong spell! I’m not trying to copy and create swords.
Let’s do this again.
“I stand above everything. There is nothing I cannot subdue. There is nothing I cannot destroy. Every existence dies before me. Every phenomenon ends before me. For I am the only Lord.”
The breeze turned into fierce gales as the space itself around me started to tremble due to the overwhelming amount of mana that this spell was using.
A rainbow coloured magic areia appeared above my head; circular and incredibly complex, it covered the entire stage. From it rose another, slightly smaller magic areia, and started floating above it. The process repeated till six areias appeared in succession.
Of course, my mana was not going to be enough for this grand spell, so I channelled the mana in the atmosphere and supplied it to the areias through my own body.
It hurt like hell to have my body handle an amount much larger that it was accustomed to, but I grit my teeth and continued the casting.
A level 0 magic spell, one created solely for destruction; no one has ever lived to tell the tale of it. This is the spell they use when they wish to obliterate a world down to its last atom.
Of course, I was not using it to produce that much power. The original spell’s areias were much larger, and numbered 216 in total.
But of course, what I had was going to be enough to win against the Hero’s spell.
Seeing that I was ready with my own spell, Michael brought down both of his hands in order to send the sword to me. The sword followed his motion and started to move towards me, though its speed wasn’t that fast.
My preparations were already complete. And as I prepared to use that spell, I heard someone’s voice.
“STOP HIM! DO NOT LET HIM COMPLETE THAT SPELL!”
Good grief, how long has it been since I heard this bell-like voice? Judging from her pitch, she seems to be doing well, aside from her desperation to stop me.
From the corner of my eyes, I could make out Cecile leaning over the edge of the balcony and preparing to cast a spell using her staff, while Lantz had already jumped and would touch the ground in 2 seconds.
Well, they are a bit late.
“Hargreave Style: Swath of the Death God.”
