【Sam’s POV】

“I’m your real mother, Sarah Hayden.”

Ha, I knew her name sounded familiar.

Turns out, this little girl is actually my birth mother, aka the woman who died after giving birth to me.

And the one whose soul I devoured.

“I see.” I nodded and leaned back in my chair. “So you’re the mother I ate up.”

Well, if this girl is not my mom, then there’s no need to worry.

“Yeah…” Sarah sighed.

Huh, I guess that was a bit insensitive of me. Not that I know, but I don’t imagine the feeling of your soul being consumed to be pleasant.

“My apologies for that.” I bowed my head.

It’s only right to seek forgiveness for mistakes you have committed. Also, I don’t want to be on bad terms with my birth mother.

At least not until I find out how she wiped out my memory, because as far as I’m aware, touching the memories of an Administrator should be impossible.

Hmm, but Phiria did mention a certain Meteron, didn’t she?

⟦As far as I’m aware, he’s the King of Gods, isn’t he?⟧

⟦Uh-huh.⟧

Huh, the fact that he manipulated my memories means that he’s an enemy.

Nice.

“You don’t need to apologise. It was out of your hands.” Sarah shook her head.

“Perhaps, but it still calls for an apology.”

“Jezz, I forgive you, so please raise your head already.” A slight smile appeared on her face.

Good. Forming good relations is the basics of Manipulation 101.

“So, you wiped out my memories. How did you do that?”

For now, let’s avoid revealing to her that I have the knowledge and skills of an Administrator.

⟦Skills?!⟧

⟦I mean, duh. The knowledge of being an Administrator would of course come with a manual on how to use my skills.⟧

What use would that knowledge be, otherwise?

“I had the help of a certain someone.”

Huh.

“Is that someone goes by the name, ‘Meteron’?”

“Yes, but how did you know that?” Her eyes widened as her gaze sharpened a bit.

“Phiria mentioned him. Oh, did you know that she’s a Goddess or something?”

“Oh. Yes, yes I know.”

“Huh, I guess Meteron told you everything.”

“You could say that.” The smile that blossomed on her face had a certain warmth in it.

Again, interesting.

“Let’s keep that aside. How are you feeling?” She asked me.

“Well, I don’t feel any different than normal.” I shrugged.

“Right, you are always like that.” Her smile turned wry.

Always, eh?

⟦Has Ex-Sam been in contact with Sarah?⟧

⟦As far as I’m aware, no.⟧

⟦And how far are you aware, by the way?⟧

⟦I’ve witnessed every single moment of his life and have access to all his memories. So yes, this is the first time Sarah has made her appearance.⟧

Huh, so I have a pervert with the hobby of peeping at other’s lives living inside my head.

⟦I see.⟧

“Well, as they say, calmness is a man’s virtue.”

“Right, they do say that.” She giggled.

Wait, seriously? Huh, I guess the Universe really is vast.

“Anyway, what’s our plan of action?”

The fact that she approached me after deleting my memories must mean she had a goal.

“Well, after this, we’ll go back to where I live. We could live together and do, I don’t know, stuff? We missed out on so, so much, Samuel, so let’s take our time to build new memories, shall we?”

“Oh no, no, no. You’re not taking him anywhere.” Phiria interjected.

“That’s his choice to make, not yours.” Sarah replied with an exasperated sigh.

“Ha, he has no choice! It’s Samuel’s body, not his.”

“He is Samuel.”

“He is a downgraded, useless Samuel. He isn’t even a 0.0000000000001% of a man Samuel was.”

Wow, rude and sexist. Also, wasn’t that percentage a bit too specific?

“He is the real Samuel!” Sarah exclaimed. “Yours was the impostor!”

“You fucking bitch!”

“Whoa, hold on, hold on.” I stood up and intervened before they could get physical in the non-kinky way. “I asked you to calm your titties down, didn’t I?” I said to Phiria.

“How can you expect me to be calm?! Do you want me to just stand by and watch as some random woman takes you away!? Never!”

Huh, that makes sense, actually.

“I understand, but please, uh, hold your horses. You too, Sarah. Let’s talk things through like the civilised adults we are, shall we?”

“…” Phiria glared at me for some moments then, sat down on my chair with a huff.

First of all, does she know how rude that was?

“…Alright.” Sarah also re-seated herself with a huff.

Why am I playing matchmaker between these two women again? Wow.

“Now, both of you are right in your own ways.” They were not, obviously, but the diplomatic route requires me to agree with them. “So please, let me be the one to make the final decision.”

“…” Phiria once again glared at the standing me.

She looked like she’d send out a barrage of attacks any moment to kill Sarah and take me captive.

“Yes, it’s your choice.” Sarah’s response was favourable.

“Thank you.” I smiled and turned to Sarah. “Now, for starters, I’m not sure if going with you would be the right thing.”

“Wha?! Why!”

“I’ve been led to believe that my amnesia is temporary and that Ex-Sam- that’s what I call the former Samuel Hayden, by the way- would come back to reclaim his body. So even if I did leave with you to live a happy, normal life, it wouldn’t last for long.”

“Ah, that…” Sarah nodded with a sigh of relief. “If it’s just that, then you don’t need to worry.”

“What do you mean?”

“We have already found a solution to that.”

They’ve found to stop the natural recovery system of an Administrator, which, by the way, is governed by the fundamental laws of this Universe?

I guess there’s a reason Meteron is the King of Gods.

“I assume Meteron would be the one helping us.”

“Precisely.” She smiled. “So if you could-”

“You seem to trust Meteron a lot.”

“Of course. I mean, he saved my life.”

“And that makes him trustworthy?”

A farmer, when his farm and house are on fire, would do his best to save his cattle and poultry. But does that mean he won’t send them to the slaughterhouse to earn some cash? Absolutely not.

“Yes, yes it does.” A slight frown appeared on Sarah’s face.

“I see.” I nodded. “But I’m sure you can understand why I don’t trust this ‘Meteron’ guy.”

“W-what is there to not trust about him?”

“Well, the first question that arises in my mind is why exactly would he go to such lengths to help us reunite? Surely not because he’s a philanthropist.”

“He did it because I asked him to.”

“So you’re telling me that the King of Gods went out of his way to pick a fight with an Administrator just to help you?”

I call bullshit on that one, chief.

“He just wants you, the former you actually, to be out of the scene.”

“And after I go back with you, he’ll leave us alone, just like that?”

“No, not exactly. We will live with him in the God’s Realm, but we will have complete freedom.”

“So basically, he wants to keep me within his arm’s distance.”

As I thought.

“He just wants you to be the Ruler you were always meant to be. The former you had gone down the wrong path, but you can fix that. Under Meteron’s guidance, we can aim for a new, better future.”

Oh, wow.

“So he also plans to use me as a pawn. Nice.”

“It isn’t like that!”

“Yup, sure.”

“Listen here, young man-”

“Now, as for you.” I turned to Phiria who had the signature look of superiority. “Wipe that stupid grin off your face.”

“What?” She frowned.

“You keep screaming ‘My Sam, my Sam’, but the thing is, I’m the one inside this body right. And I would like to have some goddamn autonomy over my own body.”

It’s my body, so I chose whatever I want to do with it, yea?

And so, from today onwards, I’m going to sexually identify myself as the BFG-10000.

“What is that even supposed to mean?”

“It means that you cannot keep forcing me to do things against my will or make decisions on my behalf; I’m a grown man capable of doing those things myself.”

“You’re a high-schooler.”

“And you’re a Goddess, yet you don’t see me bitching about your childishness. I have to be the adult in your place.”

“Wha?!”

“Now, for the time being, I’ll stay in this world. And depending on you guys’ behaviour, I’ll decide who to trust. That’s the end of discussion.”

A nice, diplomatic discussion, if I do say so myself.

“Y-you can’t do this to me!” Sarah exclaimed.

“Why not?”

I see no problem in it.

“I’m your mother!”

“Yeah, and?”

As if that means a goddamn thing.
