【Sam’s POV】

The central market of this duchy that we were in was, well, just like a market.

There’s not much to say about it other than that there were several shops selling several things to people of several stature.

I probably could have used ‘several’ a few more times there, but that’s enough for today.

Anyway, there were small stalls that were selling street food and trinkets.

Then there were the actual shops inside buildings selling things like confectionery, clothes, weapons et cetera.

Then there were the large shops selling the same things, except that a lot of people were lining up to buy things; they were probably famous shops.

Finally, there were the elite shops (I’m not sure if the usage of the word ‘elite’ is correct but let’s roll with it) which sold high end valuable items only to select customers (probably nobles).

And right now, we were in one such elite shop to buy clothes for the 10000 IQ geniuses who thought it was a good idea to come to a new world without bringing anything with them.

Seriously though, just what was going through their heads that they descended upon this world without bringing any luggage? It’s the basics of Travelling 101. Like, they don’t even have a toothbrush.

Disgusting.

⟦Why don’t you just… ask them?⟧ Simone suggested.

…That’s actually a good point. Huh.

Instead of just silently judging them by making assumptions which may or may not be correct, I should just ask them.

“They… they won’t ask for our kidneys, right?” Chloe nervously joked.

…I can’t even tell her not to worry, because this is a different world, likely with different customs, so it’s entirely possible that they also accept human organs as payment.

Maybe it’s time to harvest some organs.

“Hehe, don’t worry,” Sherry replied with a giggle. “I have a VIP membership, so stop worrying and just buy anything you want.”

A VIP membership? Damn, Sherry’s a bigshot.

Which makes sense, considering she’s a fucking Hero.

Upon hearing Sherry’s words, everyone wandered off to check out the clothes on display, accompanied by the clerks of this shop.

“Um, I have been meaning to ask,” I whispered to Cornellia who’s apparently the sanest out of them. “Why didn’t you bring any luggage with you?”

“Oh, well, actually,” Cornellia smiled sheepishly, “we did bring our stuff with us. It’s just that we forgot it with Liera. By the time we realised, we had almost reached your location, so we decided it was better to just buy it here.”

“Ah, I see, I see.”

That actually makes sense.

I’m sorry for sarcastically calling you geniuses.

“Oh my, what’s that?” Cornellia’s gaze landed on some top displayed on our left and she trotted towards it.

Since everyone else was already busy trying out the things that had piqued their interest, I quietly followed Cornellia.

The article that had stolen our elf’s gaze away was some kind of pink layered top with a pattern cut on the back.

The cloth the top was cut out from was very soft and comfortable, and the colour was the natural vibrant pink of a rose.

The top looked so comfy to be in that it almost made me want to buy it for myself.

Unfortunately, I’m not into the habit of cross dressing.

“How is it?” Cornellia asked.

I imagined Cornellia wearing this top, and… yupp, she would look gorgeous in it.

“I think it will suit you well,” I replied truthfully.

“Ehe, I’ll get this one then.”

“Nice.”

A clerk, as if she had been waiting for this exact moment, appeared at our side from God knows where and led Cornellia to the fitting room.

“I’ll be back soon,” Cornellia said.

“Sure.”

With that, I was left alone.

Now then, what shall I do?

“Would you like to try something, sire?” Suddenly, a male clerk approached and asked.

I guess he too was bored with nothing to do as all the customers inside the shop were women, so he decided to approach me, a dodgy looking masked man.

Which in itself would mean nothing, but it seemed that in this shop, it was customary for the clerks to handle customers of the same gender.

“Well, what do you have?”

I don’t really have anything to do right now, so I might as well try out some fantasy-like clothes.

⟦Can I expect help from you, Ms. Simone?⟧

⟦Eh, I guess I’ll tell you if I see something good.⟧

Looks like I cannot expect much from the freeloading dead elf.

⟦Oi.⟧

I mean I’ll be in your care, Lady Simone.

“Please follow me.”

As instructed, I followed the clerk to the first floor of this shop, which was the men’s section. Many different types of clothes were lined up on mannequins.

Hmm, what should I get? A pair of comfy pyjamas?

He’ll probably kick me out.

“Sir, it is to my understanding that one of you has a VIP membership,” the clerk asked as I was going through the clothes on the mannequins.

“Yes… yes, we do have VIP membership.”

“Then I have something special, just for you,” the clerk smiled.

Just for me?

Hot damn, just how long has this store been stalking me to actually prepare something just for me?

I should probably call 911.

“Go ahead.”

But let’s first see what he has in store for me. I may end up forgiving them for their unhinged behaviour if their clothes end up suiting my tastes.

“Please follow me, sir.”

Once again, as instructed, I followed the clerk to the second floor of this establishment.

Different from the floors below, this floor was more… flamboyant. Beautiful pictures were hung on the walls, while the pillars were engraved with exquisite golden carvings.

The huge, mesmerising chandeliers hanging above us seemed to cost more than what an Average American would earn in his lifetime.

“This is an area reserved solely for our VIP guests.”

“Why is that?”

I call discrimination.

“Because this floor contains the best of what we have created. This is also where we display our latest fashion trends before releasing them to the general public much later on.”

Holy shit, I thought this was just some run of the mill elite shop, but these people are going hard in the textile business.

“You really value your VIP members, huh?”

“Of course,” the clerk smiled. “Not just anyone can get our VIP membership, after all. You may already know, but one needs to at least have the Royal Family vouch for them to even be considered for a VIP membership.”

“I see.”

To be able to reject a person who has the Royal family’s recommendation… It seems like Sherry brought us to a shop with some serious backing. I wouldn’t be surprised if this shop was under the direct control of the ArchDuchess Elizabeth.

“Well,” I continued. “What’s the latest fashion trend that you have recently created?”

“We have a lot of things, but… what I think will suit you best is the…. Shirt!” He exclaimed excitedly.

A man in the service industry being so passionate about his job is quite rare, I must say.

“Shirt?”

But did this man really just say shirt? The same shirt that I used to wear back on Earth?

“Yes, sir. It is something that is worn by the people from the world Heroes came from. So, in a way, you’ll be wearing fashion from the other world.”

Hmmm, I guess it is the latest fashion trend. Noice.

I just want to know which of the Heroic motherfuckers is earning royalties from this shop.

“Interesting. What else do you have? Both from the other world and this world.”

“Oh, we have a lot, sir,” he smiled. “Just-”

However, before we could continue, a person suddenly appeared behind the clerk out of thin air and whispered, “Sir, there’s trouble downstairs.”

Now what did those women do?
