ShangriLa Frontier Chapter 265: Loss and Defeat Sometimes Are Not Synonymous Part 1

It seems that even though the “curse” was supposed to be permanent, it would not stay in your system forever. Because after some time, I could feel that little bits of control were going back into my “useless” left arm. So it would be just a matter of time before the rest of it would peel off as well. Who would have thought that there would come a day when I would be grateful for those damn wounds? Aside from being able to wear armor temporarily, that is.

Losing battle is a type of scripted event that you cannot win, no matter what you do. And even if you would somehow manage to win, the end result would still be the same. Most of the times, the conditions for such scripted event to resolve is that the whole party gets wiped out. But sometimes the trigger is the HP of all party members dropping to a certain point. Either way, you will always lose such battles.

 

「Luukan did not have his Unique Scenario EX unlocked at the time, and we still managed to repel him. Maybe we can do the same here this time around as well?」

 

Even though I would like to believe in that, I know deep down inside that this is nothing but a wishful thinking. Also, it was painfully obvious that both Rei and Akitsu Akane were exhausted and at the brink of collapse from the ongoing battles. Also, what is Rei doing here? Is this the reenactment of the Lulilas story? Could it be that going through all of those battles she managed to gain the Vorpal Soul that was deemed to be worthy? Kuu……! I should have expected something like that from Saiga Rei, a girl that keeps on surprising me time after time without much effort!

 

Somehow, it feel to me as though Akitsu Akane might have leaked some information. Although I can’t see any reason why the strongest person in ShanFro would like to come here and do quests like that. I mean, sure, this place offers some good weapons, accessories and skills, but it should not be something that the strongest people would need to concern themselves with…… Or maybe it is completely the opposite and my reasoning here is wrong to begin with?

Akitsu Akane looks like he can keep on going for some more time, but Rei did not look good at all…… I mean she is sturdy, but her agility is not all that great. I’m not saying that she is going to be a liability here, but with all that armor it is going to be increasingly hard for her to dodge the poison attacks here, especially if they come unexpectedly.

 

Also, if we take the self-proclaimed Goldunine as a model here, it is entirely possible that aside from the curse of poison, the attacks of the real Goldunine are going to possess some additional effects to them.
