ShangriLa Frontier Chapter 332 Part 2

ShangriLa Frontier Chapter 332: Crawling Communication Part 2

In the end, I decided it would be best to ask the People of the Forest for help in building a makeshift elevator here using tree branches and ivy vines. That way, the king and the princess would be able to seek shelter as well without having to worry about climbing the trees too much.

And those long-eared guys…… The moment they have learned that both the king and the princess are incapable of fighting on their own, they have instantly become even nicer to them. What an unpleasant kind of sympathy it was, that display…… Oh well, they are of noble birth after all. Their social status was far greater than any of those Elves would ever be, most probably. That makes it understandable that they would not be perfect at every single little thing.

When I logged out for a moment, I have grabbed my mobile terminal and started doing some research in a hurry with one hand, while using my other hand to take care of a bunch of smaller businesses at the same time. Once every single one of my preparations were finally over, I was able to log in once more.

「Yofuin Ryoji…… Aizawa Youko…… Shijima Genkuro…… No, those people are all bottom liners, as rude as that might sound. That being said……」

Amachi Ritsu, that should be the name I am looking for, right? She seems to hold a position that gurantees a whole lot of authority. And when I looked her up, it turned out that she was also involved with making the Online version of Shit Chronicles. Hmm? What’s this? Special creator? What was ShanFro thinking, hiring someone like that? No matter how you look at it, she’s a total shitty game master!

「…… No, but maybe having that person on board made it so that ShanFro managed to become so successful.」

As for the special creator, she might know what’s she’s doing alright, so is it actually for the best from the player perspective? …… It should be, right? I well, I guess there is little to no use deliberating over it like that……

While munching on the crab stick that I have taken out of the fridge, this time I go the ShangriLa Frontier’s official webpage.

I used to see it all the time: people saying that there is no better feeling in the entire world than reporting a bug in the game to the support team and seeing it get fixed. I used to wonder if it is really all that good of a feeling, but now I think that I get at least part of its allure.

「That being said, INVENTORY is just too convenient of an item……」

There are a whole lot of benefits to gain from it, but having unlimited air jumps around would be really bad thing. Thinking about it now, didn’t I already sent them about five emails regarding that particular subject? …… Do I really want to annoy them further? Yes, yes I do. Message sent.

「Now I really get it. How does it feel when one of your actions ends up affecting the entire player base.」

The crab stick does not taste like real crab, even though they may have been sitting next to one another in the fridge…… but it is not the taste that I particularly dislike. Heck, crab sticks are more convenient to eat, because you don’t have to break any shells in order to get to the meat.

「Alright then. Now, let’s see here really quick……」

Tottori-kun…… He is yet to log in back into the game, right? While I don’t think that I can honestly expect something out of the People of the Forest, it will certainly do me no harm to go and ask around the place.

Five minutes later.

「Huh? That’s strange. Where did everyone……?」

「–––– DON’T MOVE!」

「Hyeh!?」

I am really starting to feel well fed up with all this. The moment anyone in here sees my face, they turn around and try to run away. So if that’s how you want to play…… You leave me no other choice but to sneak around and approach you from behind, so that you would not be able to sense me. That way a salmon-wearing monster managed to successfully sneak up on an unsuspecting Elf who was just walking around, while jumping down the top of the nearby tree.

「…… Don’t look behind you. Just answer the questions.」

「Y-Yesh, alright……」

「What’s your name?」

「A-Aliure…… sir.」

「I see…… That’s a lovely name you’ve got there.」

Strange, isn’t it? We are technically allies here, looking forward to the same goals. But here I am, sneaking up on my allies and interrogating them as if they were the enemy agents. Could it be that I logged into a wrong game, by any chance?

「P-Pleash… don’t hurt me……」

「I still have more questions I need to ask. Would that be alright with you?」

「HYIIIIH!?」

Oh well, let us continue just like this. Too late to back out now.

What I want to know here for the time being is this……

「This bow you’ve got there…… It’s homemade, right?」

「Y-Yesh…… Yesh, shir!」

「Is it only a short bow? Because that Tottori fellow seemed to be equipped with something that was quite different from a short bow……」

「T-This is, umm……」

「Three, two……」

「It’s the secret composite bow that only the People of the Forest can produce!」

I was actually wondering if it was not a slingshot or something else like that. But now I see that it was not the case here.

I see…… But if it’s a secret, than maybe it might be something I’m not all that proficient with…… I would not want that to happen here.

「Back to the main subject, then. What about the stats…… What are the requirements to use that special weapon?」

「Eh? Stats? Ehh, umm……」

I felt like toying with the poor Elf right about now, so I poked his neck with the tip of my fingernail.

「Pleash don’t hurt meeh! Pleash don’t kill meeeh!」

Ahh…… This is bad. I had no idea that bullying the Elves would be so fun! If that picture was to be leaked to the general public, this could get pretty bad for all the wrong reasons here. There will certainly be someone who is going to see this as racism or discrimination……

「Once you answer all of my questions, I will let you go unharmed. So here’s to a fruitful cooperation, my friend.」

「…… Say, Sanraku?」

「What is it, Tottori-kun?」

「I was talking to the People of the Forest not so long ago, and an awful lot of them were crying to me that there was this one strange creature with the head unlike they have never seen before that walked up to them and threatened them to do something in particular.」

「You don’t say? What horror! It must have been one of those knights that are after us! Those bastards. That being said, those Elves who encountered that monster should be glad that they managed to emerge alive from a meeting like that, wouldn’t you say?」

「…… And wouldn’t you know it, that peculiar monster seemed to have asked them about the bows that the Elves are using. Very particular indeed, don’t you think?」

「If you have a firm grasp on the weapon’s strength and weaknesses, such knowledge can be as powerful as raw DPS. If the attack power, range and the rate of fire are also broken beyond measure, you can have a big advantage against all of your enemies. …… But who would do something as cowardly as bullying Elves for information while both of us were logged out?」

「Say, Sanraku? How proficient are you with handling a bow, really? Just asking out of curiosity.」

「I must say that the People of the Forest are pretty amazing here. Or maybe that Elven bows are amazing instead? Being able to create something like a composite bow with nothing more but organic matter such as wood and tree branches.」

「…… Isn’t there something that you would like to say while we are still discussing this topic? Like, anything at all?」

「…………」

「…………」

「…… I mean, I had to! Otherwise they would not listen to me! Whenever I tried to approach one of them head on, they would just run away in fear without saying anything!」

It is very likely that I am never even going to use such a weapon in real fight. However, just in case, I still want to have a low cost, super-efficient method of attacking my targets from a long, safe distance. Yay! Bows rock! Say it with me!
