ShangriLa Frontier Chapter 409: Frantic Quest in Search For a Reason Part 1

Let us talk about something purely hypothetical here for a second: for example, yes, that’s right. How sharpening one’s concentration during battle can affect one’s performance and boost it quite significantly. But on the contrary, such a thing is a double edged sword. Because you see, concentrating your thoughts on one single thing means cutting off from everything else around you. It’s something akin to a tunnel vision.

While I keep on hanging from the outer edge of the Crystal Crown cliff with a “KEEP OUT” wire wrapped around my waist, I can finally allow myself to exhale and catch a break, even if it’s for a single short moment. I knew it, I was so tense for a while now that it was actually a miracle that I did not end up hurting myself because of it. Sometimes, my own strength scares me.

「Marvel: This unit is impressed. The magical Internal Combustion Phenomenon that Master has just exercised has temporarily managed to rewrite Master’s physical specification and genetic information to a level that should not be possible, but still……」

「Ah, you know. Ad Libbing…… Guts…… Improvisation…… Experience…… With all of the above combined, stuff just keeps on happening from time to time like that……」

Ahh, that was dangerous. Like, REALLY dangerous there for a second…… For a moment out there it really felt as if I was running full speed ahead on a very slim tightrope and actually managed to fall off of it. I don’t want to feel like that ever again, believe me. It’s bad for my heart.

The body of the Emperor Scorpion, which has exhausted all of its HP, scatters as if it exploded into a million pieces, and a large number of drop items begins to rain down onto the ground here. The sound is heavy and puts a smile on my face just thinking about what I am going to do with all of that loot and how much money I will be able grab for all of that.

While the enormous amounts of EXP points started to add themselves to my overall EXP pool, I started to get back right up onto the Crystal Cliff Crown whilst listening to the SE sounds that started to play in the background. Hey, it’s been a while since I las heard something like that.

「I wonder if…… I will be able to reproduce this strategy over and over again? Sure, it will take a whole lot of practice, but……」

This here victory was the result of me going with a full tension, giving it absolutely all that I had. However, I am more than sure that if I were to try to copy that strategy over and over again, I would die from severe mental exhaustion sooner rather than later.

However, there is also good news other than the first subjugation of the Emperor Scorpion…… Fufufu, yes, that’s right! it’s finally a Level Up time!

For a moment out there I thought that maybe the story will repeat itself, and that defeating the Crystal Scorpion here will give me enough EXP points to actually hit the level cap, but I see that this is not the case. I see that I still must be able to level up, although the amount of EXP point required for that is growing more and more ridiculous with every consecutive level up.

As for what I was able to get with this particular level up…… Ohhh! Nice! I can see that all of my mobility and air-mobility skills managed to level up as well at the same time! And not only that, but it seems that I have unlocked some new skills as well while being at it!

First of all, we have the skill “Whirlwind –Tsumujikaze –. It managed to get to the next stage and grow stronger. At first it was simply a skill called “Gale – Hayakaze –”. Then it got changed to “Whirlwind Tsumujikaze”, to now get transformed into its latest iteration “Todoroki – Todorokaze –”.

Unlike its very basic form, the Gale, the Whirlwind was a sword-drawing skill that increased in power as the sword was being swung out of its sheathe. So one has to wonder, just what kind of sword-drawing technique is going to be next?

And then there is even more important matter at hand: just how many more steps are left until the final form, “Tachikaze”……?

Now, here is a problem that one need to consider for a moment: how does the sword fighting technique “Thundercloud – Raimei – is going to be obtained by the players? I mean, its basic form is only just something that slightly paralyzes the ones who go into contact with it, so I kind of fail to see the connection here. Or rather, how does a skill like that change and evolves into an AoE Lighting strike that covers the ground? I feel like there is something way more complex to it here than initially meets the eye, but I have no real way of actually confirming that. Maybe it will be some sort of a Sage Art?

Now how about the Wind Style skill “Aranami”? Its basic form also has nothing to do with how its ultimate form acts in a battle…… And honestly its application on the player side of things leaves much to be considered. This is really starting to become something that you would really ponder your head over if you wanted to achieve the desired results.

One of the new things that I have managed to obtain here was another Wind Attribute skill called “Wind Scream – Bokyou –“. For a moment out there I was trying my best to remember if there was an attack like that in the repertoire of the Graveekeeper Wezaemon’s attacks, but then it dawned on me: there was indeed something like that. It was some kind of a range attack that we never really got to witness with our own eyes, all thanks to the use of the Holy Water that cancelled that attack animation before it was able to get resolved. I must say here, it was a truly convenient of a thing to have on you if you are in a pinch.

「Oh no, that’s not good! That’s not good at all! It’s actually way harder to collect what we need fast enough!」

「Explanation: Please, Master, no need to worry about that. You see, every last resource collected by this unit is going to be automatically registered and then imported straight into Master’s inventory.」

「I’m more worried about the inventory space being exhausted at this rate than anything else, you know……!!」

Retreat! Retreat! Let us retreat at once, god damn it! Or no, wait a second…… Maybe this situation here is just what we need after all…….

「Alright, Sigma! You don’t worry about anything and go right ahead first! Leave this all to me!」

「Question: are we going to stay here for much longer? …… Correction: I guess that we are going to, huh?」

Is it not clear? I mean, if we are already here and we have the means to fight back, let us aim for maximum efficiency with this strategy!
