Only one more youkai seems to be missing.
What’s so scary about this thing is that it can appear in almost every type of field, without exception. A shadow is slowly creeping its way towards you, and you feel it both inside of the game and outside of it. And the victim is then gently struck on the shoulder by a monster wearing a huge grin on its face, and the player can only succumb to despair from that point onward……! But even so, a seasoned hunter knows how to handle the opponent like that no problem. So the fact that it is here must be fate, without a shred of doubt!
「Urgent Recruitment: Youkai 1 Search and Destroy Battle, Looking For Firepower.」
「I don’t think that this will be enough to actually set our victory for good……」
God damn it, that is exactly why I can’t trust anything other than one hundred percent when it comes to odds! And god damn you to hell as well, Youkai One! For selling your soul to the Goddess of Random Numbers without even giving it that much of a thought!
「NEAR ONE! PLAYER: SANRAKU-SAMA OBTAINS THE ITEM “BLIND DRAGON” FOR POSSESSING THE EXISTING SAVE FILE!」

「…… Blindly chasing after best results can sometimes be really counterproductive, but there are things that can only be seen because of striving to obtain the better results.」
「Bling Dragon? Blind Dragon……Dragon, Drake, Eye…… Aaahh, finishing touches, huh?」
Isn’t Dragon usually associated with a Divine Beast? I mean, I can see where such an assumption could have come from, but still, isn’t that kind of overdoing it?
However, the quiet but fierce battle of the Log In Lottery was just the appetizer, so to speak. Obviously, the real bread and butter of Supernova’s booth awaited us after entering inside.
So we do just that, entering inside alongside people who looked like sweet lovebirds, older men and other kinds of people who tried their luck in the competition only to fail miserably. And just like we, they were all holding onto special tickets.
Even though the ShangriLa Frontier’s booth was filled to the brim, that does not mean that other booths were going to be empty and desolate. In fact, this booth was so packed with people that it was almost impossible to not bump into someone by accident, and I had to pay extra attention so that Rei and I would not get separated like we almost did back at the station.
「Uwoh, seriously? The map of the third galaxy is already completed? Who would have expected that kind of penance…… Oh yeah, allow me to explain, Rei-san. You see, in GalaTra, when you discover the map of the galaxy it won’t be automatically updated, like in the majority of games out there. For it to update you must first bring it back to Earth, which is your starting point. Only then the data will be processed.」
In other words, you can’t update your galaxy map unless you turn around and start heading back to Earth. And going on such a perilous journey without actually being afraid of losing progress and suffering the horrifying death penalty, that takes some serious penance. As well as tremendous mental fortitude. This also means that map-makers in this game need to be well-prepared for whatever perils await them in the void of space, and not everyone is ready to do just that.
In the past, there was even an incident where a group of three super whale-y players met in space in order to have a three-way battle where the stakes could not have been higher: a complete data map of a particular solar system. I like to think that I am serious about the hobbies that I engage in, but this here was the seriousness that was on a completely different level. It was something that the general playerbase would never be able to do. In GalaTra, whenever the resources from a particular solar system were running low, you could expect conflicts to erupt between players, and they would always be very bloody and very violent. But enough about that for now, let us change the subject onto something way more light-hearted……
「At the time when I was still playing that game, the third galaxy was pretty much still unexplored and the only thing that was known about it was that it possessed three black holes within its perimeter. Can you imagine? You are just trying to brave the great unknown and then you are sucked into one of those things, which results in an instant “Game Over” screen and you kissing your precious money and resources goodbye? That’s pretty brutal.」
「How should I put it…… Yes, I think that it really is pretty brutal. Or even more than that.」
「But that’s about it when it comes to my knowledge of this game. So as to what is currently going on in it…… I have next to no idea.」
The difficulty of this game can vary greatly as well. I mean, everything depends on the fact if you have enough firepower to bring dangerous space naval battles to a close with a one shot or not. Because the longer you fight against alien space crafts, the larger the possibility of you suffering a horrible loss. The strongest means of attack in the GalaTra fleet battle before the update were Anti-Craft Fire Blasters or ramming the enemy vessel, which was equal to a suicide attack. But that seemed to no longer be the case, and it was hardly a surprise here. I mean, civilization is constantly advancing forward, so new methods of space naval warfare were only a matter of time.
「Whoa, this is actually amazing…… two hundred fifty thousand, that’s actually……」
Once again, you have done it once again, Supernova! What are you even doing!? Why are you trying to attach a personalized planetarium as a bonus to the already pretty huge game!? What’s the story behind it!? What, could it be that someone from the development team is that much into planetariums? And what’s more, there are only a limited amount of those things? What’s this? Only one hundred of those things on sale? And thirty of those things have already been sold!? Give me a break here……!
Quick, I need to do something here to distract myself! Don’t look at the planetariums! You don’t need them! You don’t need them at all! But man, won’t you look at that! This old man looks so excited, buying one of those seventy planetariums that are left! And can you actually blame him!? Yes, this distraction thingy is hardly working here, it would seem. I then tried to look at Rei-san and what I saw…… She seemed to be looking at some particular object that was placed to the side of her.
「What? Is there anything that you like here? Like, at all?」
「Ah, no, not in particular……」
「Galaxy Lottery?」
