ShangriLa Frontier Chapter 594: The Underground God and the Unprecedented Pupa Part 1
When it comes to Kutanid of the Abyss, this monster is like, sorry for the lack of a better example, only the very first step on your journey to open up a drawer that was being sealed by multiple locks. Like the first lock that you were supposed to open. Now, if you look inside of that opened drawer, you can actually see what’s inside of it, but you will never actually be able to know the whole picture just from a single fragment alone. …… Now, my main fault here was taking on and defeating the Gravekeeper Wezaemon as my very first Unique Monster. That is why I would always assume that each and every single one of the Unique Monsters that would wait to be challenged down the road would be just like that very first one. All because thinking like that was actually easy and comforting, because it switched my thoughts into an already familiar pattern. But here it was not the case. Here, the truth is that the Orchestra was actually the same kind of a Unique Monster as Kutanid of the Abyss was.
If you do not open all of the locked drawers, the picture won’t be completed. If you don’t do that, you cannot complete the battle. You will be unable to win. Therefore what need to be done here is that I must find all of the key and open the second and all of the subsequent locks before I am going to have a real shot at victory.
「It was a very simple fact. So simple, in fact, that I was unable to see it. Or rather, the clues were all there, but I was unable to make that necessary connection. You get it, Emul?」
「U-Umm…… Y-Yes? I think?」
「No matter what the truth behind the Orchestra may be, it is first and foremost nothing but a music player. The fact that it contains songs and track lists means that there was a guy in the past who used it as such. Perhaps its inventor, or maybe the very first owner.」
The basis for every single Unique Scenario is to unveil the root of the main theme, a person, or an issue that the Unique Scenario is all about. For the Gravekeeper Wezaemon, it was all about listening to the request of Setsuna of the Distant Past and making sure that her prayers would be answered. In case of Kutanid of the Abyss that would be to read the memoirs left by the Queen of the Exiled Underwater Kingdom of Lulilas. And for Siegwrum, the Heavenly Emperor it would be showing him that humanity was more than capable of besting him in combat, granting his request to show him a true Hero.
But if that’s the case here, then what about the Orchestra itself? The conquest Dolls are nothing but a bluff here, that’s for sure. What about those who already managed to defeat it? At best here, they will only be able ot explain why it looks the way it does and what are the contents of the songs that are inside of it. Nothing more and nothing less.
「Well then, what do you think it is I should do here, Miss Intelligence?」
「Inference: …… Maybe it would be best to try and access a database of a machine that has more information about said subject than I do?」
「Nice display of Intelligence out there! I’ll give you ten points for that. If you manage to collect one hundred of those points, you get the right to call yourself Miss Perfect Intelligence!」
「Modesty: Thank you, I shall humbly take it.」
Oh, don’t you dare to give me that smug look, you piece of junk! I know that you are going to let me down the moment I am going to need you the most! So don’t you think, not even for a second, that this is okay! Besides, whatever the fuck was that INVENTORY bug supposed to be, huh!? Explain yourself!
But wait! Eureka! There was a sudden flash of lightning emitted from my brain, but it seems that it was able to affect my cyber avatar as well. After announcing the festival to “Library”, I felt sorry for stopping even for a second, so I swiftly shook off the storm of questions that were being thrown my way. I went out of the theatre and headed towards the makeshift hideout where a certain Unique Monster was supposed to be located.
「Yo, Wimp! Are you still alive? You didn’t hopefully starve to death, did you!?」
「Yooooooouuuuuu aaaaaarrrrrreeeeee fiiiiiinaaaaaalyyyyyy heeerrreeeeee!!!!!!」
「Uwah! What the hell!?」
Suddenyl, a huge lump of soil rushed my way!? No, it was something dirty like a lump of soil, but if you look closely at it, the lump of soil doesn’t normally have puppy-dog eyes that were welling up with tears. So it looks like this here was actually Wimp, although for some strange reason she was smeared with dirt all over.
「Hey, yo! What the hell!? What about Sammy-chan-san?」
「If you are looking for Sammy-chan, she’s right there! But more importantly, we have trouble! Big trouble!」
Even though she is still weak as shit, thanks to all of the power leveling that we have performed on her she should be sitting at a level where Wimp should be perfectly fine to take care of herself and manage to survive all on her own. …… So what could have happened here while I was gone? Could it be that the Crystals Scorpions got so fed up with me farming them that they decided to drill inside of the mountain in search for revenge? Was that it? Because if it is, then man, that’s incredibly petty of them to do……
However, when it comes to my expectations here, I was about to see that I was actually half right and half wrong. To put it simply, I was right in thinking that something started to dig underground in here, but the one who was actually doing the deed was Wimp herself. Hence, the state in which we were able to find here right about now.
「T-This is…… somehow, just seeing that makes me not want to get involved with it if I can help it.」
「Y-Yeah, you can say that again. I do not wish to get involved with whatever this thing is supposed be if I can help it, either.」
「S-S-S-Sanraku-san!? T-T-T-This thing right here…… I-I-I-Is that… what I t-t-t-think it is……!?」
「Anylizing the object: Analysis complete. This thing right here is the ultra-densely compressed primordial matter. However, the structure and the organic components differ greatly from that of any known species in my database. This thing is way more chaotic. Could it possibly be…… The Origin?」
Origin? You mean like this whole Erebus, the monster that Weissash told me about all that time ago? The Primordial beast from the outer space that once threatened to end all creation n existence? …… But no, even though I have heard stories from Weissash, being in the middle of this continent and underground like that is only a given that we would encounter something like that. So it was not all that strange to find it, especially if you dig deeper and deeper when you are widening your cave, but……
