Infusing magical energy into the lower half of my body, I run while using light body enhancement. I arrived at the village before five o’clock. At the entrance, there is an unenthusiastic-looking gatekeeper.

「I was planning to visit a relative in the town of Magt, but I took a wrong turn, you see. Could you please allow me to stay here just for one night?」

「All right. Is there an inn?」
「Yeah, just go straight ahead from here, you’ll immediately find it. It has an inn signboard hung on it, so you should be able to tell which one it is immediately.」
I thank the gatekeeper and head for the inn. It is a relatively large village. The air around the villagers is bright, and although it cannot be said to be affluent, it doesn’t have the atmosphere of a poor village. I find the inn and go inside.

She is about 30 years old, I guess. She cannot be said to be a beauty, but she is a charming and healthy-looking Innkeeper. There are two children around 10 years old nearby. I can also hear the voices of children chatting from the room in the back. She must have a lot of children.
「Is there no supper? I’m tired, so I don’t want to go out too much. I’d like to eat here if possible, but….」
There might be a knight patrolling the streets who might know my face. I’d like to refrain from going to places like taverns if at all possible.

「Something like that. You can call me Mike. I’m the bastard son of a reasonably large merchant family, so I do have some money. No need to hold back.」
When I go to my room and sit down on my bed, I am assailed with a surge of fatigue. It has been a turbulent day. Me departing the mansion, the mortal combat between the Orban gang and the knights, and then me disguising a corpse and running all the way to this village using body enhancement. I cannot feel the faintest effect of the Automatic Recovery skill. Two children come in. I guess it was a good idea to give them a small silver coin. I mean, it is great that they seem to be in a good mood. According to what I learn as I chat with them, it seems that the siblings are six in total, and their father passed away two years ago. I strip my upper body naked and wipe the sweat off. So good. I want to take a bath, but I cannot afford the luxury. At that moment, there is a knock at the door and Innkeeper-san brings in my meals.
「Ah, I see you’re wiping yourself off. The children were so happy, you see, saying that they were able to see magic. So you turned out to be a magician, huh.」
