【Sam’s POV】

It was finally decided (without any discussion) that we’ll meet at the south gate at the 11th bell. In this world, a day is divided in 20 ‘bells’. The bell refers to the bell rung by the church near the centre of the city. Since everyone can hear that bell even though this city is so large, it would be safe to assume that the church uses magic to propagate the bell’s sound.

Anyway, since the day is divided into 20 parts, it can be said that I have to meet those adventurers at around 1 pm. Hmm, isn’t that kinda late? According to Selica, the quest she was talking about involves monster subjugation. She said that it was the perfect quest for us to understand adventuring. So, we were registered to complete that quest.

But now that I think about it, even though we have become adventurers, we don’t really look like ones. We don’t have any weapons or armour, so we look just like travellers. Well, that’s what we were originally supposed to be. Not to mention that we don’t really need weapons. Phiria can just summon any weapon she wants from her ‘inventory’ while I already have the Tzeeneth. My right hand grew warm, Tzeeneth’s way of saying that I don’t need anything else as long as it’s with me.

But I don’t think I can actually casually take out Tzeeneth for small skirmishes. It’s sheer pressure alone is enough to kill, so taking it out would mean breaking my MQSA image. So, for now, we’ll go and buy weapons and some provisions.

Just then, I got a slight electric shock on my right hand; Tzeeneth was pouting. Really, since when did it get so cute?

⟦It’s not your doing, is it, Simone?⟧

⟦O-of course not!⟧

She stuttered and replied timidly.

⟦My eyes are on you, so don’t go teaching useless things to Tzeeneth.⟧

⟦Like I said, I’m not teaching anything weird to it!⟧

Hmm, weird. How did a lone savage like Tzeeneth turn into a shy lover? Something might be wrong.

However, while I was thinking that, I somehow started to lose feeling in my right hand. I looked at it, and the black mark symbolising the Extinctions had spread to my entire hand; Tzeeneth was actually trying to eat it.

Ah, now I see. It was just trying to make me let my guard down so that it could briefly take control of my body and rampage to its heart’s content. I guess being confined for such a long amount of time has its demerits; Tzeeneth has built up a lot of stress.

「Don’t worry, you’ll also get your chance. So just return to the way you’re supposed to be.」

I passed it a message. The increase in the mark’s area stopped; it was contemplating my offer. After some time, the mark went back to its original size. Tzeeneth had agreed to my proposal.

Anyway, since Tzeeneth has calmed down, let’s go and buy some weapons.

Fortunately, I had already consulted Selica about this, and while keeping in mind our budget, she had suggested a weapon’s shop some distance away from the guild. After borrowing a map from her, we exited the guild and made our way towards the weapon shop called ‘Missien’.

However.

“Samael, what should we do with those bastards following us?”

Phiria came closer to me and asked.

“Just ignore them. No need to kick up any unnecessary fuss. We’ll deal with them if they show any hostility.”

“Roger.”

Phiria unexpectedly immediately agreed, but as I had thought, there was a compensation for it. She wrapped her arms around my arm while burying it between her breasts and started walking while clinging to me. The softness that invaded my arm was so out of this world that I almost lost myself to my carnal desires. But I managed to resist.

“What are ya doing, Ms. Mary?”

“Do you know.” She started with a smile. “What do they call it when a man and a woman go out together?”

Huh.

“Do you know, a date is defined as when a man and woman go out together when they’re romantically interested in someone? So, our situation is clearly a simple outing between two acquaintances.”

“But am I not romantically interested in you? So, this is a date.”

Goddamnit.

“In other words, I am officially allowed to hold your arm like this.”

The smug smile on her face almost made me attack her rabbit ears, but I resisted the urge, the piercing gaze from the guys around me helping me with that.

And so, while debating over whether this was a date or not, we arrived at the Missien, the symbol of two black swords crossed over each other painted on the board the proof that we had arrived at the right place.

“Welcome!”

A cheerful voice resounded along with the chime of the bell hung on the door as we entered. This time, it was a deep, thick, man’s voice.

“What can I help you with?”

Said the dwarf sitting behind the reception desk. With a height of around 120 cm, he had well built muscles and a thick long beard.

“We need weapons. Oh, and we were recommended to this shop by Selica.”

She had asked us to mention her name to the store owner.

“Oh? Adventurers sponsored by the guild manager herself?” The dwarf came closer. “Tell me lad, what did you do to curry her favour? Kill a dragon or something hahahaha!”

“Ah, no. We registered as adventurers just yesterday.”

“Eh? Seriously?”

“Yep.”

“What’s that lass thinking this time…….?”

He muttered to himself.

“You seem to know her?”

“’Course I do! We used to be on the same team back when we were adventurers!” He flashed a smile. “Anyway, what kind of weapons do ya want?”

“A simple longsword will do.”

“And what about you?”

He asked Phiria.

“I don’t need a weapon, thank you.”

“Hmph.” The dwarf’s eyes narrowed. “So it would seem.” He turned to me. “Wait a moment, I’ve just got the perfect weapon for you.”

Saying that, he walked inside. But why inside? If it’s a longsword, then there are many hung on that wall.

……..Let’s hope that he doesn’t bring anything outrageous.

Some time later, the dwarf walked out with a long case in his hand. He put the case on the desk and beckoned us to come to him. Then he flipped open the case and showed us what was inside.

Resting inside the case was a longsword which seemed to be made of silver itself. Its edge was sharpened to perfection, while beautiful carving decorated it hilt. And in the centre of its hilt was embedded a colourless ball.

“This, my lad, is a Spirit sword!”

The dwarf took out the sword and presented it to me excitedly. But a spirit sword?

“So, is that a Spirit Stone?”

“Hahaha! You sure know your stuff!” He laughed again. “Yes, as you said, this is the Spirit stone extracted from the dungeon ‘Gods and Demons’.”

I haven’t heard about that particular dungeon, but I do know about the Spirit stone. According to what I read last night, Spirit stones are found in dungeons of high difficulty. They are formed from extremely dense mana, but all attempts to create an artificial Spirit stone have till now failed. In other words, the presence of a dungeon is a necessary catalyst for the creation of a Spirit stone.

Spirit stones are used to create magical artefacts and weapons. Such weapons are extremely powerful.

However.

“Why is it colourless?”

All Spirit stones have a colour, which tells us about their attribute or element. So, a red stone is related to fire, a blue one is related to water et cetera. A sword with a red Spirit stone is literally a fire sword.

But I haven’t read about a colourless Spirit stone. Upon hearing my question, the dwarf grinned.

“This spirit stone is special. Unlike others, it can actually adopt the attribute of the user and amplify it.”

“That sounds like a dangerous sword. How much would it cost?”

But it’s useful nonetheless, especially for me since I can use all attributes. And since it can adapt to the user’s attribute, maybe……

“Hehe, since you were sent by Selica, I’ll give it to for 5 gold coins.”

What?! 5 gold coins for such a sword?!

I dunno whether that’s cheap or expensive.

“Done.”

I took out 5 gold coins from my pouch and handed it to the dwarf. He gave me the sword along with a scabbard for it. After securing it around my waist, I exited the shop along with Phiria.
