When I look back and think back to that one particular moment during that faithful day, it was certainly a miracle that I did not die to the Poison’s damage over time effect. Call it simply luck or maybe even a divine providence, but the fact remains that I managed to survive and grow from that experience.

And on that very first day, there was a player named Reiji and the girl that was accompanying him, Mia. They were the ones who showed me the direction to the Secandil’s inn, and it is thanks to them that I was able to make a save there.

This place right here was the place I would have the least expect to have a reunion in with players like that. That is why I wanted to make sure that I got the right person here, but much to my surprise the moment I opened my mouth and asked her that, she grabbed her brown-haired dog and started running away from here as it was the Devil itself that was chasing her. And I must admit, that speed of hers was something else alright.

「But really now, it’s as if she saw a ghost right now or something……」

No, now that I think about it, her behavior was not that strange at all. I mean, if you were to see a black mourning dress-wearing person falling from the sky while wearing a cloak of black thunder all over its body, you would probably want to run away as well. Because that is some pretty horror-movie stuff right there.

Wow, now I actually feel sorry for scaring the poor girl away like that. There were some questions I wanted to ask her, and I wanted to ask just how Reiji was doing these days. However, that can wait for now. Right now I had more pressing matters to attend to, so I mobilize my Vorpal Soul and try to listen to my surroundings for any scraping sounds that may have seemed suspicious.

「We need to revise our strategy here. And if by doing so we happen to meet all the conditions that are necessary, then all the better here.」

Doing this search, I managed to slay a whole bunch of monsters, so now I was pretty strengthened and healed basically all of my HP. When going solo to areas like that, this weapon was no so bad after all, but only if you go solo. However, there is going to be one final test here, and that is fighting the monster that was not just some weak-ass small fry. Only then I am going to see if this weapon is truly worth the effort and sacrifices that it demands of the player.

Now then, I think that my search has been going for long enough here. It would be about time for the Dullahan to come out, but…… Contrary to that opinion of mine, it seems that even the small fries stopped spawning for the time being. Personally, I stopped updating my hit count here once it passed the magical number of two hundred, and considering that there are probably other players in the area killing all the monsters as well it would have been about time for the Dullahan to show up…… No, wait a moment. If there are other players in here with me, doesn’t that mean that someone might actually kill the Dullahan before I manage to get to it? That they are going to swipe it right from under my nose?

Found it! I have finally found the guy! The thing is, it was already engaging some other player, so I had to smack that player to the side so that he would not steal my pray away from me. Please forgive me, my dude, but sometimes life really be that way! That’s RNG for you!

I used the disposable magic scroll in order to apply the magic light above my head, thanks to that you can see the shadows dancing all around me. Also, it just so happens that both our shadows were about to overlaps in this particular position.

However, that property can also be used the other way around. The light source generated above my head is linked directly to the movements of my head, you see! This means that depending on the way in which you move your head around, you can also move your shadow around!
